Big big hugs Jo and FunBrum - not good for you both at the moment. I came close to leaving my OH over alcohol, although there were a lot of other factors too.

Feeling soooo much better today - no hangover, feel like I can do everything again! :)

Big hugs to all, hope everyone is ok.

  • Morning all, it has just taken me 15 minutes to catch up on all the posts!!

Well, I am on day 10 now and feeling great! Had two cans of Kaliber again last night but not got anymore in now so am going to drink tea tonight! I too have noticed a mad craving for sweet things and normally I do not have a sweet tooth at all, I never even thought about the lack of sugar now I am not drinking!!

Funbrum, this is just what I am like with a 'skinful', totally irrational and ridiculous where normally I would never say half the things I do, alcohol (or vast amount of it) turns me into someone else and it sounds like this is the case with your oh - is there any way you can broach the subject when he is sober and explain how upset you are? Big Hugs to you hun

Jo1972, try not to panic too much, you know you have got the willpower and this is just another little setback, remember also that the way you are feeling is partly the alcohols fault, it always makes me paranoid and every little thing seems like the end of the world the morning after, good luck at your aa meeting and big hugs to you too

Hope everyone else is doing ok xx

Right well I'm off out tonight to the theatre, I've left it purposely late to leave the house so that I have to drive there and won't be able to drink. I've also text my mate and said I'm not drinking tonight so it's belt and braces routine! Wish me luck :D

    Hope everyone's well :)

hope you have a good time Jo !!

day 6 evening for me and OH is away with work- would ALWAYS have a bottle at least on the 1 or 2 nights he's away with work. I'm usually away 1 or 2 nights too (although not this week) so would drink then too as would claim it back from work .... then it would be the weekend- see the problem ?
had my weigh in tonight and it wasn't pretty- can't drink for 2 weeks on this diet so that'll probably be the longest I have ever gone. Lets see if I can do it. hummmmm

I'm going to do a facepack instead now instead of boozing. Hope everyones doing ok x

    hey folks,
hugs to everyone who needs them. Jo, I hope your evening at the theatre goes well and you find your inner resolve tomorrow to carry on the battle (and that's not too strong a word I think). I really hope you find the help and support you need right now. Don't you think it's highly significant that you OH's mother was an alcoholic? HAs he ever gone to al-Anon?

Fun Brum, I hope your OH has had a cracking hangover all day as some pay back for being so mean. Staying sober will keep you so strong in these situations AND you will be able to remember what was said and not wonder if you were the one that caused it all.

I think we've all seen ourselves transform into prize prats when we've got too much booze on board - not so nice seeing it in someone els form the other (sober) side.

No drinking here tonight. Saw my shrink and said I'd decided to stop drinking and she was very much in favour - 'it doesn't help with anything' .

    off for an early night,

    take care everyone,

Good morning all, quiet on here today!

Feeling a lot better than I did yesterday, well apart from sore throat, cough etc. etc.

Went out to the theatre last night and didn't drink :j went to Browns for dinner and had 2 cokes then during the interval at the theatre had a bottle of water. My friend had 3 glasses of wine which didn't bother me as I'm not a wine drinker anyway. I drove home from the station instead of waiting at the bus stop when I normally go out and drink, waiting for that bus which is only every 30 minutes is a horrible place to be at 11.30pm, dark and quiet streets and right next to a graveyard  Instead was home from the station safe and warm in about 5 minutes, pjs on, coffee and bed :D

Feeling much more optimistic today :D

    How's everyone else?

    xx
