    Hi Funbrum.
    Hugs to you.
Sorry about your domestics. My OH is the same when he has had a drink and argues over everything and nothing. I used to argue back but find it so much easier just to ignore him when I havn't had alcohol.
Well done for staying strong though.:T
    Keep your chin up.
    Love Mollypolly xxxx

Bloomin eck, only been gone since yesterday lunchtime and the world and his wife's been on here

    Here goes...

Ab, I did my detox at home, had to take 2 weeks off work. Started on the Monday and had to go to the drug and alcohol centre first thing for a blood test, get breathalysed then see my counsellor. I'd seen the doc at the centre for my medical on the Friday before so my prescription was already ready. Had to go straight to the chemist and get my librium (sp?), they only give you a prescription for one days dosage cos you have to go back into the centre early every day to be breathalysed and blood pressure checks. Didn't go anything else for the entire 2 weeks cos I was like a zombie on the drugs, certainly couldn't drive, couldn't even be bothered. It was a great feeling cos although I did want to drink, I couldn't be bothered to get up and get some and that was okay too. Really weird, no emotion, couldn't get upset, couldn't get excited, nothing! Just had to make sure I ate 3 meals a day (which I didn't :undecided) and took various other stuff they'd given me like B12 and summat else that helped the liver recover.

Bas, hiya  day 6 is fantastic! Lol @ 'doing a jo', do bear in mind that before my 2 weeks abstinence and losing all the weight I was drinking 8-10 500ml cans of Stella every day! That's a lot of sugar! Good luck hunny :)

    Lurky, I know you're reading this ;)

Sea, good luck hun, it happens to all of us (me mainly )

ISOM, thank you for giving so much support :A

Nearly-There, the sweettooth is definately cos your body has realised you're not drinking alcohol anymore. Alcohol is pure sugar and you feel as though you need to replace it somehow. When I wasn't drinking last week I ate a cream cake every day  The headache is for the same reason too. Keep strong :)

BHB, you made me laugh when you said you were 'avoiding that aisle' :rotfl: reminds me of when I was trying to quit drinking last year, I drove past the off licence actually screaming 'NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!' at the top of my voice as I did it, seems to work cos I didn't stop! If anyone could've seen or heard me I'd be carted off to the loony bin :rotfl: Glad to hear the acupunture is working well for you, I wish they offered that locally to me. Hope you feel better soon :)

Elantan, it's okay, we can actually see you hiding over there ;)

Tomstickland, thanks for your wise words :)

PK, 4 days is ages! Not to some but definately to others! Keep up the fantastic work and stay strong :)

MollyPolly, wooohoo, you are doing great, good luck for today :)

YM, you are going great, maybe you can get a good few days behind you before you aren't working and maybe you'll think twice? :)

Well things aren't going very well for me...ermm, at all :(

I got amazingly drunk last night, had a row with OH (as usual), he called me a drunk and various other things, some of which were true. Now, I know you will all say he shouldn't speak to me like that, but it takes two. Plus in his defence, it's very frustrating being married to an alcoholic (I'm personally not but I know many who are). My OH's mum was an alcoholic, as ABs said the other day, a beer for brekky kind of alcoholic. She ended up dying a couple of years ago after a massive 7 day binge on martini, guiness and special brew...her body just stopped working :( So I can understand his frustrations. He tried everything possible to get her to stop, even had her sectioned, but she never knew she had a problem, or if she did she certainly didn't want to get better. And after going through hell with me when I first realised my problem, had counselling then the detox then failing miserably after 30 days dry and going over it all again on numerous times, he is extremely frustrated.

I need help, very quickly cos I feel I'm at my rock bottom (again). Sorry to depress you all but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I do feel very positive today and hopefully will be able to get to the lunchtime AA meeting today if all works out, if not I'm seeing my counsellor next week.

It's so good to read this thread, I appreciate that most of you are cutting down drinking as opposed to giving it up and most of you don't actually have a problem with alcohol but it's good to know I'm not on my own :)

Hope you all have a nice day now I've depressed you all :rotfl:

Hi all....nice to see you are all doing well:T

I've been ill for the last two days, but last night I could have screamed!!

My BF who has a big drink problem decided to have more than the odd can! He was so abusive, verbally, and twisted what I was saying, turning anything I said into a row, even though I was calm and couldn't understand where all the venem was coming from!

I don't think I can take much more of this. He blames everyone for the things that go on in his life. Not taking responsability for his own actions. I have told him that there are consequences for his actions, and the way he was with me last night, are such that I don't think I want to be with him anymore.

He seems to push everyone away so that he can feel unloved and justify that no one cares about him. But he does it himself.

Sorry to have gone on, but I needed to get this off my chest as there is no one I can talk to about this.

I have stayed stong and didn't run to the bottle which is a first for me, so some good has come out of this!

This is exactly what I was talking about in my post. So sorry to hear what you're going through, I wished there was something I could do.

    :(

I dunno about you Andy, but every time I post a message or open a thread I get logged out and have to log in again, very irritating!

  • Its just very slow here. Waits a couple of minutes before posting or changing pages. Don' t think its me as other pages on other sites seem to load ok.
As you say - very irritating!
