I've not read the thread apart from the title. I've recently substantially cut back on beer input, mainly because it's fattening. I've noticed that I feel a lot better when I wake up in the morning if I don't drink the night before. I'm now quite regularly going 5-6-7 days without drinking anything.
    Happy chappy

I've gone 12 days now and in that time I have had 2 glasses of wine (on separate occasions whilst out) and one bottle of beer (with an indian takeway).
So 3 drinks in 12 days. Normally in 12 days I'd have had at least 20 glasses of wine - which equals 5 bottles - eeeek! So I'm doing pretty well!

Have to admit, I'm cheating a little thou as i've been ill for the whole of the 12 days and still have that lingering throat/cough. Thats really putting me off at the minute! I hope when I'm back to full health that I've lost the taste for it.

Thurs are my downfall night - I normally watch american idol/katie and peter (all high brow stuff!) with a couple of glasses. Will see what happens!

It's nice to know I'm not alone Nearly there with my wine guzzling. I went shopping last night and husband rang me and suggested I got a bottle of wine-however I said that I didn't want to drink and got him a mini bottle of wine instead. he fell asleep at 9 and didn't even open it so I was really glad I didn't get a big bottle to share cos i know I would have merrily finished it off whilst he was asleep! I saw X weighted the other day and they were trying to persuade this woman from drinking wine and basically filled a wine glass with sugar and said that you were drinking that much. It shocked me particularily as I'm on a beach hols in 2 months and feel very flabby round the tum-wine belly! Lurkio-don't stop posting-this is a support thread rather than a competition about who can stay dry the longest! It's all ups and downs and one day at a time so keep at it.

Is that what it is?? wine belly - I have one of those and always blamed it on my kids!!

Incidentally, my best mate was a big evening drinker until she got pregnant - she's now 4 months and has actually lost weight rather than put it on! Just shows the power of cutting out alcohol alone!

When I did a 2 week detox a few years ago, I had 2 weeks off work, went back to work after and they all said it was like a different person walking in...went from a size 14 to a 10 in 14 days! And no, I'm not joking!

Another dry one for me :T had two cans of kaliber though - need to make sure that doesn't become a habit!! mind you looked up the calories and its only 79 a can compared to over a hundred for my wine per glass:eek: I have actually lost 5 pounds last week  I have been eating more than normal too so just shows how much of my weight is from drinking! ( I am prob a stone overweight)

Lurkio - we are all here for you and relying on you to help us so don't you dare leave us!!

Hi all- can I please join you ??? Hi Lurkio and Jo- it's me, the one that failed at non smoking !!

My alcohol intake goes up and down - had a down (or should that be up!) last week when OH was away- drank every night- a bottle or more, and came to work feeling like !!!!! !!!! then went out on Friday night even though I felt terrible, and Saturday had the worst hangover. Haven't had a drink since then and OH is back so haven't really thought about it. (He doesn't drink at home- hardly ever anyway)
Anyway, have decided I have to lose weight (about a stone or so) and that removing alcohol for most of the week is sooo hard- just a habit I suppose ! Don't want to 'give up' but last week shocked me- the fact that I had no willpower just cos I was home alone.
Looking forward to 'doing a Jo'- 2 weeks off the booze- will be a size 10 !! Yeah right !!
