I know it wouldn't work for me - I don't feel deprived by not drinking. Not at all. The last thing I want in my body is booze, so I feel no deprivation.
A friend of mine who doesn't drink advised not to drink zero-alcohol beer or wine (as if!) or cocktails as he said your world has changed, don't cling onto the old ideas and tastes. Experience new ones.
So what do you drink then - plain water?!!! I just meant that I am looking forward to some 'posh' and interesting drinks which will not contain alcohol I am not looking to 'deprive' myself of anything and everything tasty thats all!!
Sorry if that came across as a bit 'arsey' I just don't know how else to put it!!
PS I already have a dd who is 150 -

of COURSE you can MP
The more people can offer mutual support, advice and kicks up the backside, the better the chances, I think. Whole greater than the sum of its parts, or whatever.....Neigh, neigh, and thrice neigh

I don't want to be greater than the sum of my parts!
Can I join in too pleeeeease but with a slight rule-bend? (here we go.....) I want to have an AFWOMOJ (Alcohol Free When On My Own January - it's so snappy!!).
Shoppy I had a disastrous start to my pregnancy cos we were on our "final fling before taking things seriously" holiday when "it" happened so I was drinking gallons AND smoking...I was really scared & told the doctor the whole truth, but she was very dismissive & said my age was of more concern!! (I'm not saying!)0 -

ahhh - invoking the WOMO clause is allowed WBwelcome aboard. Wagon will depart on 1/1/09 at a time mutually convenient to all (when you wake up  )
edit : MP - as you are AF, you have to ride shotgun! :rotfl: :rotfl:Neigh, neigh, and thrice neigh

See I go away for a few hours and you're already partying without me!!! Can I join the AFJ please? Even though I'm not drinking it would still be good to participate in a collective alcohol free month- nothing like a bit of peer pressure to keep you on the straight and narrow I say.
Whichever way you look at it I suppose only one thing is certain, if you really want to find a way you will, everyone has their own strategy and no ones journey is any worse or different than anothers- its the end result that counts, and my attitude is go for whatever helps you, there is no right or wrong way to tackle this- we all have pretty much the same goal, just lots of different ways of getting there, but its getting there that really counts. I second Graham on the effects that alcohol can have on those around you, particularly the little ones, but I also see others points about making the transition gradually and with responsibility. So I suppose its like our debate on AA, we'll just have to have our own thoughts on it and respect those of others. Thats why I like this thread after all.
Hope everyone is OK today, best of luck with the weekend.0 -
