Hello all, just wanted to say a big well done to eselt on the anniversary:T and a thanks to her for the many words of encouragement which have certainly kept me going on bad days.
Hope everyone's ok and not stressing too much over Christmas. I'm trying to plan for all the different eventualities, changing routines etc where I need to and just treating my sobriety as the number one priority. I've managed a couple of difficult days ok so far but not taking things for granted.
Anyway, take care all and keep smiling!

Hi all- just making sure you are all OK, and I'm thinking about everyone through the build up to xmas and new year. Danger time for me has always been when the boredom kicks in after boxing day and you've got that week till new year to do nothing much but drink- I've volunteered to be on call that week during the main christmas shut down and I really hope I am busy, I know I can't drink because I could have to drive at any time which will keep me on track.
Molly, good luck with slimming world- I never have managed to shift that last 20lbs before christmas, think I have come to the end of what dieting can do alone and need to step up the dreaded exercise, although I hate it. Most of my wobbly bits are around my tummy so out with the rowing machine for half hour a day for me- no booze helps, but the paradox is your appetite returns so you soon start putting weight on again- I was actually lighter when I was drinking, but then I hardly ate at all, was sick all the time and permanently dehydrated so not a diet I'd recommend!
Best of luck this week everyone, lets take on christmas and new year and win- I'm cooking this year and I can't remember much about previous dinners I've cooked as I've always slurped away in the kitchen getting sloshed- I cringe when I think about the weird and wonderful plates of food I've dished up for christmas dinner over the years- one year I didn't get as far as pudding as I fell asleep at the table before dishing it up- not big and not clever.0 -
Good morning all
All ok here. Still havent bought any drink in for christmas. I don't intend to until the very last minute. My Mum and my Mother in law will drink wine so I'll just get a bottle or two. I don't intend to drink if I can possibly help it. Who knows, I may even manage to stay up beyond 9pm on Xmas day, remember what happens in the Doctor Who xmas special and be able to cook a dinner on Boxing Day without a raging hangover!

Hi everyone, very quiet on here
I have an announcement to make
I am 5/6 weeks pregnant!! Only found out yesterday and am shell-shocked to say the least (we had decided to have a break from trying till March next year!) We are telling parents on Christmas day, we don't see any point in waiting as if anything does go wrong (god forbid) like last time we will have to tell everyone anyway!
So - that has put the tin lid on it for me regards the drinking!! Am Teetotal for at least the next 8 months:T must admit am a bit gutted I will not be able to have ANY alcohol over the festive season but it will certainly do me the world of good!!
Hope everyone is ok today xx0 -

Just Flying through - busy week this week !
On the alcohol front, doing pretty good with 2 AFD this week and the rest only 1 bottle of beer. Fingers crossed that I am able to keep it up or reduce even further.
Have a great day everyone.

Congratulations Shoppy!!!!!:T
I have only had 1 AFD this week but I am not drinking today and tomorrow so that will make it three AFD's days at least. Friday and Saturday are going out days so I will drink definitely Saturday anyway but maybe might just try to limit myself to a couple of drinks on Friday night so not too shabby I think.
I do really restrict myself more than I used to, I used to get very drunk almost every day. I think it would be better to not have to feel like I'm restricting myself at all though but I'm not at that stage yet.
Well done everyone.:AHOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Congratulations shopaholic-I'm also pregnant at the moment (due in January) and have been lurking on this thread for a while as have not been drinking due to pregnancy for the past 9 months so will be with you on a dry Christmas. Have done it three years ago and really enjoyed my Christmas without hideous hangovers and tiredness. Had a really good New Year's Day as well for the first time ever without banging headache, dry mouth and sickness! I'm just watching for danger time when the new baby is about 6 months old and I have stopped bf and start to indulge in wine to 'relax' me after the kids have gone to bed. Before I conceived I felt that I was starting to drink more and more wine and was conscious of drinking too much and too quickly compared to other people so will be posting on here for support after I have had the baby. Plus I can't blooming well afford to drink on maternity pay!HSBC Visa-High interest-£2349.23 Nat West £2605.18
