Well done Eselt.
That should be an inspiration to everyone.0 -
Hi all-particularly nobbie and miss piggy who have personal experience of dealing with alcoholism- my heart goes out to you, I can only say we never planned this, noone wants to go through this and cause such suffering to their family and friends, honestly.
Well well well, today I can say I haven't drank for a whole year, and though I think about it everyday its getting easier- just gotta hold my nerve, as Bis says constant vigilence. When I went to AA I laughed at the thought of a 'higher power'- but now I can look back and think maybe someone is taking care of me, don't know who or what but whatever it was that let me flick that switch makes me think something/someone is looking out for me. I should have been dead by now, last december I was given a few months to live, but I'm still here, and my kids still have a mum, and my dad still has a daughter and you can't believe how lucky I feel today-and thanks for all the support from you guys, putting up with the maudlin depressed poster trying to get through all this:T:T:T
Back to the rest of my life for me, gotta pack it in- come on everyone, lets do this, cut down/give up this bloody stuff.0 -
Well Done Eselt :T:T

eselt have just read last few pages through tears, you are such an insperation, you should be so very proud of yourslf :T
My Dad is an alcoholic, watching his daily torment I know exactly how hard it must be for you. It's strange how even having grown up with alcohol playing such a huge negative part of my life, I still go on and make the same mistakes myself. Im just hoping now is the time to get a grip and stop history repeating its self.
Havn't yet managed that elusive AFD, but am making progress as I have been drinking less and thinking about whether I really want it more and more.0 -
Eselt well done :T :T :T Wonderful achievement
I hope you don't mind me coming in here, I have been reading this thread for a couple of months now and I have to say it has helped me tremendously in finally admitting to myself that yes, I do have a problem with the dreaded, in the respect that I seem to be a bottle of red a night kinda girl or more if I allowed myself it.
Since reading this thread I have examined a lot of things in my life and I am pleased to say that I am managing more and more AFD's than ever before and that really is down to you guys (still not completely free but I am not sure if I want to be , just less is fantastic at the moment)
You are all amazing and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Have a great Sunday

I'll be honest Eselt, when I was younger I used to get really ANGRY at my brother for causing such heartache. But I soon realised he just CAN'T help it. Its a disease. I wish there was something I could do to help him...me and Mum took him to a support group but when it came to going on his own he just never bothered. At the end of the day, HE has to do it. And until he does, there isn't a damned thing we can do about it. It makes you feel very helpless. Breaks my heart. So I can imagine how relieved and happy your family are that you made that change. That you came out the other side.

Happy Re-birth Day eselt!
For that's what it is and that's what it represents.
Well done. Take care.
As for maudlin posts....not at all....you show us the depths of where you were and we've all got stories to tell.
I hope this morning, the world seemed different for you. Each morning it will as you continually have to remind yourself of how great it is to wake up feeling well in the morning.
Yes there are things that can't be undone, but we've lives to lead and each day does get better. However, constant vigilance. For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070
