And I'm on!! Don't think I could face alcohol today even if I wanted to. My body is definately rebelling against me drinking. A warning sign perhaps....but definately not one I'm going to ignore.

I am quite starting to look forward to a alcohol free xmas now.We have bought a Wii and a Wii fit board so am looking to start on a bit of a keep fit regime.I have been at my target weight for just over a year but I still really need to tone up...so thats my resolution...no booze and start to get a bit fitter.

Molly- we've got a wii fit, I bought the yoga game they do, its brill, lots of gentle stretching and brilliant breathing exercises...keep you very chilled out when you are stressed. Well done being at goal weight...I haven't managed that since having children wrecked my body and I am like you, I think only the dreaded exercise will help now. Best of luck with it.

Hope everyone is OK...its going to be a challenge for a lot of us I know, but we can get through this and come out sober (ish) the other side, ready for the AFJ challenge.
  • Hope all is well with everyone today. watched the wagon go past this weekend and chose not to get aboard:rolleyes:  no chance this week for me so I am focusing on the January challenge now. I have tentatively spoke to a couple of my friends about AFJ and they were surprisingly unsupportive  looks like if I do this I do it on my own.

I too missed the wagon yesterday  and have a spectacularly bad hangover this morning.

Am going to have an AFD today, have loads to do so hopefully will keep me focused. Have a work do tomorrow and have offered to drive so won't be able to drink then either. So at least i should get a 2 AFDs in before xmas.

Hope everyone else is doing well :D

  • Afternoon all

AFD 2 today, after my slip-up the weekend. The way I felt SUnday has seriously put me off of drinking over christmas. Would rather have a nice time with my family. Lets hope I manage it.

Hope everyone is ok and getting in the Christmassy mood

I sometimes wish that the feeling of dreadful hangovers could be bottled and we could have a sniff of it when we're wavering- you know that 'never again' feeling when you really mean it because you feel so bad. If we could remember how bad it feels and how awful we look, rather than the memory fading away it and you forget it, it might help with the motivation. Thats the paradox of alcohol, our bodies are so good at recovering from it we think we aren't doing too much harm, until your body stops recovering from it and you've gone too far and by then its too late to do much about it. It took me a year of treatment to get rid of hepatitis and I can honestly say I hardly had any symptoms at all, just felt like I was coming down with flu sometimes- by the time they picked it up my liver was pretty knackered, and I still didn't feel anything other than a bit hungover, and as I was hungover most of the time I didn't notice.

Watched two young women stagger (really stagger) home from the pub yesterday evening- one was sick in the street and everything- in the state they were in anything could have happened to them- makes me shudder.

Hope everyone is OK today- I am feeling very calm, I'm not worried about xmas now, when you take the alcohol out of the equation its amazing how much stronger you feel- I feel I can cope with anything today!!!!

funny how it looks "from the outside" the festive songs seem different and being able to drive at a moment's notice has its advantages.

also heard on the radio that "everyone falls out with someone over Christmas"....it's a lot easier to avoid it when you're sober! I lose track of the little things that could have made me fly off on one if I was smashed....now I just shrug my shoulders and count to three and no harm done.

Wish I could pass the message of peace as far as possible - life's too short.
