Hi all- wheres the muskateers gone? Hope everyone is OK.
Molly- well done you for resisting, you must be under a lot of pressure at the momnet, take care. To answer your question I still think about alcohol several times everyday, but I don't feel like drinking at the moment- but sometimes I really do, and god knows I've relapsed many times over the last few years. I think we will always be vulnerable, and will always have an uneasy relationship with alcohol. What I do know is that if you do a simple cost/benefit analysis, what alcohol ends up costing you is never worth the couple of hours of respite from troubles which are still there in the morning- its just not good value in any way.
Hope everyone is OK tonight- take care0 -
(Thanks Needstochange. It wasn't a very close family member but it still was a shock to the system.)
I have had 2 AFD's now this week followed by 2 drinking days and now I'm worrying about Friday night. I don't know why but I always feel like I deserve a treat Friday night (AKA some alcohol. )HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Musky here but heading to bed as the wine is calling me so horribly.
Back from the quiz - one pint cider then one lime soda - as there is only such a short break between rounds the lime and soda bit was out before i allowed myself to think anything else. So not a great muskateer tonight. But one drink, usuallly leads to ten for me - so its progress of a sort.
Nice words folks above this post- eselt I think you are right - we can be vulnerable always maybe.
Thinking about what Bis said about us ladies all being of a relative similar age Made me think a bit, just like elset said a drink is often used as a short term respite mechanism.
Eough of my mutterings am away to bed.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

wise words again Eselt and Bismarck - thanks.
The temporary feelings (respite/joy/numbness etc, whatever we need from it) that alcohol gives are so persuasive that it can really be difficult not to think oh I'm feeling sad/celebratory/angry let's have a drink - just like your Friday night treat 115k.
I had a couple of glasses (small ones though) with DH when he got in late from work - nice to have one whilst we chatted I thought. Now, whether it was not so good wine or just I haven't had any alcohol for a few days but this morning I have a really nagging headache and feel disproportionately carp. Could be that I was beginning to get used to alcohol free me! Really, looking at the cost benefit analysis as Eselt said, that 250ml of wine last night certainly wasn't worth it.
We're off for the weekend later today so I'll catch up with you all Monday. Will keep it alcohol free I think.0 -
Morning all
Fell of the ole wagon again last night:o not in a big way - had one glass of red at my friend's before dance class and two glasses of white at home later but then early night and cup of tea :T
Will be having a skin full tonight however as old friend coming for dinner and not seen her in over a year:eek: am planning on being AF rest of weekend though
Good luck everyone and if I don't catch up over weekend have a good one:beer:0 -

!!! Ahem! Don't blame me!Can't find the finger-wagging smiley!
Must confess though, when I started the book I thought the same - what a bonus to be "allowed", told even, to carry on...trouble was, that meant I was almost always too p!st to either read it or remember what I'd read as the only time I can sit down with a book is the end of the evening.......nuff said.
MP very very well done resisting, I could feel the need for a drink through your post :T - hope that's passed now.
I'm being complete carp hence lack of posts (must be a relief!).....too much bad news......finding retreat into my own little world....but will be back Monday being :A cos I feel and look...terrible! Was quite shocked this morning how I suddenly seem to look OLD. 50 suddenly the new 60  . So first I shall sue the makers of my "anti ageing" face cream & then...I shall stop getting caned every night.0 -
