Hi everyone
You all seem to be doing well, I know how hard it is to stop drinking once you've started.
I am doing well, now over a month since any booze or fags have passed my lips, and it seems like I have got out of the habit of drinking and it doesn't seem as important as it used to be. However, I did think that the weight would drop off me when I stopped and it hasn't in fact its gone up, but I think I have traded one addiction for another so now I am addicted to chocolate, something I never really bothered with before, think it might be something to do with sugar.
Any ideas
Keep up the good work.

Hi clara
My skinny friend is a chocoholic....a really big one....she can graze her way through a tin of roses in one sitting and doesn;t put on a pound or have a single zit!!
Anyhow in the run-up to Easter..which is an especially tempting time for her.., she has locked all the Easter eggs she has bought for her friends and family in the garage...and left the key at work!!
(I am thinking about doing this with my wine collection if I can't keep off it this week!!)
Best wishes
Wol2

Wow..so many posts...so good to see...
YM - thinking of you and hope all is OK. Please let us know how you got on.
ISOM -echo your words about alcohol being a depressive and contributes to the cycle..which is why I am trying new ways..new strategies when I feel a bit vulnerable or down.. i.e. change my habits/routines...long hot bath is great idea and works for me! Fingers crossed the alotment survives tonight.
RoxieW....you may feel you fell at the first hurdle but you did stop after a couple of glasses..well done...it's something I would have found very difficult to do.....and tomorrow is a new day. Is there something else (different activity) you could do when you feel tired and stressed to unwind instead of pouring a glass? e.g. different non-alcoholic drink, candles, good music, read book??
Cabbagegrower..hello!! Nice to meet you..and you've come to the right place for advice and support. Good luc and every success with your endeavours...including the veg!
Well done everyone...it's great to see such good progress...and thanks to everyone for posting and offering support, suggestions and their experiences.
Busy week so back saturday....on target this week so far and your posts are certainly inspiring me on! Thank you!
Hugs to all

Hi everyone.
Sorry for not posting but was a bit busy yesterday as my Guinea pig had 5 babies:D
Seems my fears were unfounded and the shuffling involves another department and even that is not to bad. Thank you all for the concern and I even had a Beer free day yesterday :T :T
Hope you are all well

Just to wander off-topic for a sec......
We started this last year - you won't regret it. you'll be stunned at the difference in taste.
Things we learned from year 1- Only grow what you regularly eat
- Do not under ANY circumstances grow any variety of squash
- Do not ask your childs friend to water them while you're away - he'll only forget half of them and you'll come back to dried tomatoes
Hi Lurkio, thanks for the advice - can i just ask, why no squash? I hadn't plan to try them this year but thought maybe would eventually?0 -
YM so glad your fears were unfounded!:D
Well all, I did not have a good day yesterday, had a big text message row with OH about getting a motorbike (him not me), made up later though! Had parents eve for my DD and that went really well, decided to get a KFC for tea and just had to have two bottles of westons cider with it - even though it came with tango!! also polished off half a bottle of white wine, the rest is still in the fridge though so am relatively pleased! Oh well, here's to a dry day today, I have a HUGE pile of ironing to do tonight so that will keep me busy.0 -

Unless you keep on top of them (keep cutting them back so you have only one or two per plant), they go crazy. We didn't know and they took over the garden and basically smothered everything else in the bed, so the other stuff couldn't grow (leeks, onions, carrots amongst other things). But definitely grow sweetcorn and peppers
Gave in last night after Mrs rang and asked if I wanted anything from the shopand had [STRIKE] a couple of [/STRIKE] three tins. Off to Tesco tonight, having failed to go at the weekend, so that should take up most of the evening and can't even have a cheeky one beforehand as I have to drive there and back
Well done ym - glad things turned out ok :T
well done everyone else - I'm glad I joined this thread. Makes me think twice......Neigh, neigh, and thrice neigh

Day 18 and I feel bloody awful. Got a headache, cant stop peeing and got a dull ache in my lower back. Just had a good cry and and feel really washed out. The good news is, still haven't touched any and my determination hasn't wavered one bit, just wished I felt a little better. How on earth did I let myself get to this? On a more positive note, I will not let this beat me, I keep telling myself that I can and I will. Good luck everyone else.0
