  • Aw Wendy...you've had some really good days. Don't let a couple of things get you down hun. How do you feel thinking about where every penny goes and then OH getting a golf club for £75. Why did you let him...Wendy from here it looks like you're doing all the hard work and OH is benefitting. Sorry hun for saying that but I feel for you and I know how hard you're trying with everything.
Hope you have a better Thursday and things will start falling into place.

Just editing to say I don't mean that to come across as any critisism of what you and OH do it really isn't and I think you're a bl00dy trouper I do :D

Thanks Dizzy thats lovely to hear

Its my fault I was feeling guilty at selling all his stuff so thought I would split the profit just didnt know how to back out when the price came in. He so loves it and loves golf. Being stuck at home with the kids isnt easy. He could be better but so could I. Im useless and lazy with housework. OK at cooking and washing up but dont expect me anywhere near the washing machine, dryer , ironing or to think about putting the clothes away! I feel I have enough to worry about lol!

Feeling better now, good day at work money in from quidco sooner than expected and most of Amazon. No spends today so far. Will just keep plugging away and try not to be such a soft touch (get it from my lovely frustrating Mum who is the nicest person in the world).

  • Hi Wendy

I just came across your diary and thought I'd say hello. I too have young children and you sound like me, forgetting brownies fees, dancing etc etc, things to pay seem to appear from nowhere

You have made real progress though and you should remember that.

I agree with ISOM's suggestion re the bank account. We have an account where all the bills come out of and an account where our monthly "spends" are and I always leave a little extra in the bills account "just in case". It means that I don't spend money that needs to go on bills etc.

Also understand re earning money from Ebay/Amazon and then spending it. This time I am trying a different tact, bought a few essential clothes off ebay and now looking to sell some stuff on there to make the same amount back - it is my April challenge.

Look forward to reading your progress. I'll go and work out how to subscribe

Thanks will have to think about another account Im a bit of a loyalty freak with NW I tart with just about everything else but cant bring myself to move. Ill see if they will let me have another account. Had a bad experience with HSBC.

Cant do spreadsheet just yet the other old computer is not hooked up as OH is working on my sisters. He is doing a learn from home computer repair course and it seems to be helping.

    Hi Wendy,

I used to bank with Natwest and I had an additional bank account with no OD facility which I just used to transfer money to . They were fine about it and I had quite a lot of debt when I applied, just had to fill in a form and hand it in to the branch. Was sorted out within days. Then put it on my online banking and hey presto I was in control!

Understand re OH's golf clubs as I can be a soft touch as well  How does OH feel about a spending diary, I have been at this for almost a year now and my OH has only come round to my way of thinking!

Hi guys hows it going. I know what you mean Wendy about being loyal to your bank. I was with the Halifax for years. Moved to the Abbey about 2 years ago but just couldn't get on with their internet banking. Have now got my bills account with HSBC (£20 cashback via QUidco) where my salary gets paid in and I tend not to touch that account. Any money left over goes into the savings account. My spends account which gets my child maintenance, child benefit and tax credits is with the A&L (£50 cashback through Quidco) thats got a cheque book and Visa debit.

:D Same here Wendy. As long as the house is clean sometimes I just don't have the energy and then I have a mad splurge on it all. OH is much better than me. And puts the washer and dryer on far more times than I do and folds it up. I don't do much ironing. I find once it comes out of the dryer and is folded it usually doesn't need an iron.
The dining table tends to get things thrown on it and I always make sure it's clutter free. Even though we rarely eat off it. It's the kids stuff all over the show rather than mine or OH's.

Somebody's got a busy day today. Hope it all goes to plan for you.
  • Starting to wain now cant be bothered with muffins so will leave for another time. Not sure about biscuits either. Think I left rolls proving or whatever its called too long when I took the girls so may be some interesting results.

Got a good list of things to pack foodwise for tomorrow and grocery shop not too bad. Not happy at overall total so far really need to be closer to £200 if some of the spends this week will be out of the holiday budget.

Most important things to do are expenses then budget so will go start them now.

  • Budget subject to my memory looking ok. Taken £460 out of savings account to cover the known dds/chqs and cash withdrawal and should have £420 ish heading back from OH, expences and Tax credit. If I can get all this back into the savings account and allow for Hol 2 cost and spends should have £450ish spare.

Planning to take out £160 cash and that with the £40 from Star trek sale will be the holiday budget. Hoping to get all costs including petrol on this although have let OH keep £26 he got back from hid Golf partner. Most of that will go to Petrol.

He had a great time and I am so pleased he has been let down so often. Its not like he ever goes out, this is his only social pass time. Weather was appalling apparently all four seasons! They still had a laugh though.
