Hi Wendy, well done on resisting saying yes to OH regarding the golf thingy. Your most definitely starting to put your foot down. Congats on the Amazon sales as well.
  • Car has just cost another £30 for a call out. Battery is on its way out. Going to sift through receipts to see if its under guarentee.Only changed it less than 2 years ago.

Some good news is car repair due at year end shouldnt be as high as I thought it would be so swings and roundabouts I guess.

  • Couldnt find receipt but Halfords checked and swapped it anyway. Now the boot wont open. I want to sell the car and get something cheaper so working on the OH.

Cars are a nightmare aren't they. My ex was a mechanic and I didn't realise how much money he used to save us until we divorced. We've still got quite an amicable relationship so I quite often ask him to have a look at the car for me when its problematic.
  • Quiet here had a few busy days at work and out again tomorrow. Brought computer deak and OH has set it up. Looks great. Someone though has stood on the keyboard?!

No movement on Amazon and still contemplating Ebay. Dont understand about postage though. I though you had to use special delivery to cover paypal if item lost. Several items quote standard first class or similar.

Spending diary looks scary I have spent £810+some missing extras since the 25th.

£56 clothes - (ok need to be careful)
£93 kids - (includes £47 deposit for day trip at year end. Still need to see if I can get out of this)
    £3 parking
    £4 take out
    £178 grocery
    £21 me
£27.50 car - not added £30 call out
    £10.00 birthday
£54 expences + £23 to be added (mostly reclaimable phew)
    £16.40 amazon postage costs
£65 OH  plus wheres the golf club? more to add double   (looks like its mostly petrol subs).
£250 holiday (budget £200 so£50 overspend to be added to grocery challenge to keep spends as low as possible)
£30 household (desk) - covered by latest amazon sales :D

Its really scary looking at the report. Day to day it doesnt seem that much. OH has been looking for cars to buy so progress there

have you bought anything off ebay? if not it would help to buy a few small things that you need (even postage and packing materials) so you get used to it and see how other sellers work. it also helps to have some feedback before you sell.

royal mail give you free 'proof of posting' on items up to the value of £36 when you ask. if an item did go missing you can claim after so many days - they just pay up up to this value, you fill in a form with a copy of the paypal etc payment/checkout plus the proof of posting. over this you can offer recorded, special delivery etc - but the thing is that the buyer pays for this. so you have the money for postage before you send the item out.

get yourself a royal mail 'pricing made easy' leaflet plus a cheap pair of digital scales and off you go! x
  • Hi Wendy

Know how you feel about it not feeling like you are spending a lot until it adds up. Things just always seem to crop up though but at least you had budgeted for a lot of it, that is the huge difference between now and before I guess?

Let's hope next month is cheaper. I have spent money on clothes for kids this month and got some real bargains off ebay for them, so it's always worth a look.

  • Thanks Jelly Babies, hope your knee is feeling better. The clothes were mostly for me this month. I know I dont spend too much over a year so not overly worried. I do rely alot on second hand stuff. Its the kids and OH spend that always surprises me!

Been brave and put three items on ebay for 3 day quick listings so at worst about 75p down if no sales. Should finish Sunday evening so fingers crossed. Had one Amazon sale for a whole £1.01, not much left after 66p postage. All counts though.

Thanks firesidemaid I already used online royal mail for Amazon so as you said saw that £34 covered for losses. Got packaging items. Been using excess pool cover as bubble wrap along with some value tesco stuff. They mucked up our order last year and sent 15ft cover instead of 12 foot so we just cut it down and for some reason kept it. Found it a few weeks ago and had forgotten what it was, DD2 remembered.

    Hi wendy
Fingers crossed for your ebay items, sometimes it takes the last day for people to notice them more.
