Hi Wendy Hope your feeling better today. This hour less in bed has really unsettled lots of people, it seems to take longer to get used to it the older we get!
  • Aaargh I cant decide whether I have enough to overpay the loan or not. Each time I work out the budget it seems really good. I have about £300 spare in the current account and £550 in the savings after allowing for the second hol spends. After working out a rough May budget I should have £230 ish spare just from incomings and outgoings for that month.

With the bonus better tham planned and extra money from Amazon, grocery savings etc I have done better than planned although there are still overspends.

    The options so far are:
    • Move all spare money to low (need to check exact interest amount)interest instant access savings account.
    • Do above but pay extra into thrift club for the expensive year end car and christmas
    • Again as above all into savings but overpay the loan by £100.
    • Just though open up an instant access online Tesco account to get points and better interest.
    Any ideas anyone?

  • Right I have paid £100 off loan shouldnt be left short with that and opened up an online savings account with Tesco. No withdrawal limits/charges good interest and should get 500 points on to in August. ooked at post office and A&L but didnt like T&Cs.

Also used some of OH's Tesco vouchers for a day out/themepark vouchers for next week. That should cover £100 entrance fees and two days out.

    Off to update sig.

  • Ok I admit it Im a complete idiot I forgot to deduct the small cc bill of £580 due on the 15th from my calculations. So still in the black just not as good as I thought. I knew something had been missed just couldnt spot it. I need a spreadsheet. Dont have excel or word on here yet trying to justify the £80 cost.

  • Really stating to shoot myself in the foot over the last couple of days. Out of the £100 earnt from Amazon I have let OH spend £75 on a golf club. I expected it to be about £40 but the price went up. Also have brought chips and chocolate not much but does add up. Let £80 go out for some kids cd roms that they havent used yet. Kepp forgetiing things like cheques for brownies guides etc.

Not getting anywork done and cant stop thinking of next week but not really getting anywhere.

CCCS screwed up and tried to take money from OH account on the 1st not the 7th so £15 charge I had to pay to cover which ended up being £20 as he had forgotten about the perscription dd. Then add £10 for petrol and £9 shopping including more chocolate.

Havent completed monthly timesheet/expenses so need to do that ASAP. Should be over £100.

I dont know why my brain isnt working its not that time again?! Right have put it into words so that will help I hope.

Hugs for you as its horrible when you !!!! the figures up! Would it be worth having a seperate account for ddm's etc? I do that and transfer x amount every pay day & the rest is mine...makes it much easier to manage I never have bank charge then...hope you manage to get the right solution for you! Hang in there...

  • Thanks ISOM

I think I need to do a spreadsheet just been writing things down at the moment so things get missed. Dont have excel on here could download a free version but prefer excel which is about £80!. So need to get off me bum and move to another room and use the old computer, we thought it was dead but OH has managed to breath some life into after several months of decluttering it. It not connected to a printer but Im sure I can get around that.

Aw Wendy...you've had some really good days. Don't let a couple of things get you down hun. How do you feel thinking about where every penny goes and then OH getting a golf club for £75. Why did you let him...Wendy from here it looks like you're doing all the hard work and OH is benefitting. Sorry hun for saying that but I feel for you and I know how hard you're trying with everything.
Hope you have a better Thursday and things will start falling into place.

    Hi Wendy

I just came across your diary and thought I'd say hello. I too have young children and you sound like me, forgetting brownies fees, dancing etc etc, things to pay seem to appear from nowhere

You have made real progress though and you should remember that.

I agree with ISOM's suggestion re the bank account. We have an account where all the bills come out of and an account where our monthly "spends" are and I always leave a little extra in the bills account "just in case". It means that I don't spend money that needs to go on bills etc.

Also understand re earning money from Ebay/Amazon and then spending it. This time I am trying a different tact, bought a few essential clothes off ebay and now looking to sell some stuff on there to make the same amount back - it is my April challenge.

Look forward to reading your progress. I'll go and work out how to subscribe
