Just wanted to share my experience with Orange.
My contract came up for renewal end of August. Orange called me two months before in both June and July asking if I was happy and wanted to upgrade my phone.
At the time I wasn't really ready to consider my options as the phone I wanted the samsung u300 (which is now NOT coming out in the UK) was not available with orange.
I finally gave up waiting for the U300 and decided to go for the u600, however this phone was out of stock for upgrade customers. So I could not upgrade at the time.
Then the G600 Samsung came out and I decided I prefered that to the U600 and called orange up. They wanted £79.99 for the phone. I didn't want to pay for my upgrade so I thought I would see what the deals were.
I was a bit irritated that Orange were offering the G600 free to customers who had a £35 a month plan (which is what I had) and thought why cant I have that? I called Orange again and again they said in the way of those annoying nationwide adds "brand new customers only" so I asked for my puk code.
I was then passed to cancellations department who asked why I wanted to cancel and I said I wanted the G600 and didn't want to pay for it. So the nice lady offered me double minutes and texts free G600 for £20 a month, only catch is 18 month contract.
Personally I dont get the logic I will now pay less money for more minutes and get the phone free, where if they had given me the phone free I would still be paying the £35 a month and they would have made more money in a shorter time frame.
Anyway I'm very happy with this deal just wonder what happens in 18 months time?0 -

Hi there,
am looking for some advice really, I have just taken on a contract with GM Group - On the 3 network I got an LGU300 phone, 250xnet mins and 50 texts per month for 6 mths @ £7.50 and 6 mths @ £15.00. All in all sounds fine so far. The cooling off 14 days started when the phone was received on Thursday last week, but when it arrived there was no detail of my plan, so I have nothing in writing to confirm how many mins etc, the exact length of the contract, what calls and minutes cost once I've reached the limits, how the half price offer works etc. I have asked for an email because the postal strike will mean that if they post something I won't get it until my 14 days are up. Also 4 days after receiving the handset it still doesn't connect.
So what I'm asking is where do I stand, I'm slightly concerned because they don't seem to be able to scrape a basic email together and when I spoke to them today they suggested that the detail of the contract couldn't even be posted to me for another 7 days. Should I pack the whole lot up and return it? Would most companies take it back - I did get carried away and open the box as soon as it arrived!?
Any advice would be gratefully received.
