Jollygiantswife wrote: »Ok, so I made my application....... my application was accepted...... I received my cards......but no Welcome Pack
I called CS last week and was told to return the activation reply slip even though I didn't know the account number (they said the Welcome Pack would prob cross in the post), so I sent it off....... and then nothing
So, I called CS again this morning ( I am so anxious to start using my card and get double points:T ) and asked when I would be able to start using it...... registered for telephone banking whilst on phone and was told my card was activated......
However, I've noticed that the DD hasn't been set up yet and I still don't have a PIN...... though would imagine I will only need that when I want to use an ATM as the Clubcard Plus isn't Chip & Pin is it??
Has anybody else experienced this? Can I use my card if I put money onto it at the store CS? Was going to try it today but money's a bit tight and I didn't want to put all of my shopping money on the Clubcard Plus card only to find it's rejected at the checkout!! Cos without my PIN I couldn't get it out at the ATM......Phew, are you still with me or have I confused you??:T
Whenever I ring CS they seem so laid back and never seem to answer my questions without taking me off on a tangent!!
Any help appreciated!!
DO PERSIST, PLEASE -
I had similar(in fact, much worse i.e. +6 months)delay & glitsches and am currently awaiting latest goodwill gesture and replies to letters(for which I obtain COP/RD slips).
Endure and win through - it's WELL worth it, jgw.
Could it even be deliberate policy by Mr T? - no, no, Heaven Forfend:D .

Hi
Does anyone know if they still do the clubcard plus. I have just came across this thread and would love to pay by this method to get double points. Also do you have to go through a credit check to be able to get it.
I cannot seem to see any information about it on there website. Any help appreciated.

Hi There,
Tesco aren't really advertising this any more, I had one years ago and thought they'd stopped doing them.....
However they ARE stiil doing Clubcard Plus!! Just call the Tesco Personal Finance customer services and ask for an application form ( I think the number is on the website....)
I was worried about a credit check, and I think they do run one if you ask for an overdraft facility (which I didn't) but aside from that, as it's not a credit card there's no need for a credit check.....
It does seem to take a while to set up though. I've had my card about a month now, the DD still hasn't been set up and I paid £100 onto it at my local store on Thursday morning but the money hadn't cleared on it so not sure what's going on there!!!
I think that the general advice is to persevere and you will get double points!!!
Hope this helps, Happy Easter!!0 -
I applied for mine and it has gone through quite quickly. They ask for an original bank statement, utility bill etc but you will get them back straight away. I have not used mine yet but put £120 on and it took a couple of
days for the credit to go on the card, so I am now ready to go.0 -
Thanks for all the replys. I am going to do this first thing tuesday morning. ~Double points its got to be worth a try

Does anyone know what forms of payment Tesco will accept to top the Clubcard plus card?
For example, if I have a tesco credit card can I top the clubcard plus up using my credit card? will this be classed as a cash withdrawal from the credit card and if not, would I get points from the transaction?

Will Clubcard Plus work with Tesco Direct?
They offer triple points for purchases over £50.00 so effectively you will gain six times the normal points.Si Deus pro nobis quis contra nos?0 -

Well I asked this question on another board and apparantly yes you can use it on Tesco Direct, and get the extra points!
I was going to buy a DS for my daughter's birthday using my Clubcard Plus for that very reason, but the postage was £4.95 and I figured it was better value to buy it in store......
According to ampersand who knows quite a bit about Clubcard Plus, you may need to phone the freephone number to make sure all the extra points are credited.
Good Luck, let us know how you get on!0 -
Right- just a little burst of encouragement for those who are unsure, hesitating.......DO IT!
As I've posted many times, after picking it up from Martin's original article, CLUBCARD PLUS IS THE ONE - yes, I had unheard of delays, glitsches etc. but it's come good now in the form of 4000 points in goodwill, with persistence and sensible letters.
The only money you need to 'promise' to Mr T is a DD of £1 monthly.
This is what I recommend, unless your budget will not miss more.
I then w/d from hole-in-wall and directly deposit my cash at CS as I go in, anticipating petrol etc. Even if you calculate you need more(I'm assuming you jot prices as you go round, necessary for spotting any DTD's also), just park your trolley-in-waiting while you top up from atm again. I have never yet had a problem with newly-banked money not being available when I go through check-out, although one CS warned me that late night deposits at the weekend could take 24 hours to 'appear'. However, 2 experiments re:this have still shown my deposits as available straightaway. Be assured, my budget is tight and tiny, so I know exactly what is there beforehand.
Next, CHECK YOUR POINTS 2-3 DAYS LATER. This has become simple daily habit, at same time as checking online Banking.
My total should exceed 16000 points by today, but doesn't because the 4pts per£ mobile top-up(posted several times elsewhere)hasn't been added. I will use the freephone no. to have them added(as has been necessary on each of 3 done this qtr - used only to benefit from the 300 pts tillspits which came my way. In-store brochures and online info repeat this fact, but you must register your mob. no. to Tesco by phone. Just ring up and ask to be tfr'd to the correct people - don't be fobbed off with a paying 0845 no. The worst that can happen is that you ring off and try again - you'll get another person)
All of this is entirely simple and straightforward - please don't be put off by what seems arduous to read and is indeed so to articulate.
I just want to spell out the prep.steps and true ease of it all. It also helps to have this rel/ship at CS when DTD's and rtns happen.
Please go for it - especially those on small budgets, or whose circs have changed drastically, or who no longer shop 'bigtime' or for previous larger households.
I'm very happy to anticipate £640 in Deals coming my way(or an occasional dabble with Double-Up for half-price Deals on wine I know to be good)CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:
