No worries! I'm just starting my third month on a DMP, and it is a little scary. The first month I was terrible RAGGY DOLLS!!!! and ended up with no money two weeks in. The second month was easier, and I ended up with £7 in my bank account at the end of the month (first time in about three years!)
Apologies for the outburst in the middle of that sentence, but I remembered the programme!! :rotfl::T

Hi Millie, hope your OH is ok no wonder you felt the need to shop...
Thanks for the number Compulsive and advice on how to add to my sig - have cribbed a bit from your text to try it out - hope you don't mind.
I've had an NSD today amazingly - going to be spending out tomorrow on 6 more £2 postal orders and stamps and S.World so that will be getting on for £20
Not going anywhere near the shops though!!
Well done everyone for trying to keep an eye on your spends, i'm going to need this thread to keep me motivated over the coming months. This is very early days for me.
Off to bed for an early night, what a long week it's been.

Hello peeps
Also had to tax car but only did six months as might change jobs and then won't need it. Which brings me to my next confession...
don't like my job v much and was so manically depressed this morning, that i drove to Tesco at lunchtime on a mission! Had about £12.50 in my purse which I had promised myself would last all week - who was i kidding?! Anyway tried on two nice skirts which were in sale, but they were a BIT tight - only a bit mind and they were a 14.:D Anyway nothing else worth buying so resorted to comfort food for lunch and wine (not for lunch :rotfl: ) and ended up spending £7.49. So now have pennies to last the rest of the week. I'm so rubbish.
I'm supposed to be going to London on Wed for an interview - well to be honest i think it's going to be more of a boot camp. Some "in-tray" assessment lasting 1hr 30, THREE role plays, and an hour long "structured" interview! Anyone would think i was applying to MI5! God knows how much train for that is going to be - if i go that is. Feeling a bit rubbish generally at the mo and really wish i knew what i wanted to do with my life!
Anyway, confession/rant over. Will try to be good for rest of week (which as I feel like living under the duvet for the rest of the week that shouldn't be too difficult ...
x
Sorry your birthday didn't work out CS - hope DS is feeling better and you've got an even better treat lined up?
Hi Loupylou, I've just seen your post and wanted to let you know that you are so not alone. I have been in the same position as you, unhappy at work and spending to try and make it all better. Did you go for the interview in the end?
There is light at the end of the tunnel- after applying for what felt like a hundred jobs, I've just been offered one and am handing in my notice at work tomorrow (which I am bricking it about, but that's another story:eek: ). The new job is a fairly big change of direction (financial services to managing a coffee shop) but I am so excited about doing something that I actually want to do, rather than doing a job just because I have to. I suppose I'm trying to say, stick with it and I'm sure it will all come good!:D
On the spending front I've been okayish- bought a couple of tops in mark one on Friday, and two new throws for my sofas but certainly haven't broken the bank. It is so strange seeing a bit of money left in the account at the end of the month. It's not much, but I'm used to it being empty before pay day!

Welcome back Millie :hello: ! Scary old time for you there hey? Has OH done any permanent damage? Can't imagine how frightening that was for you.It is so strange seeing a bit of money left in the account at the end of the month. It's not much, but I'm used to it being empty before pay day!
I've done a very brave thing for me today and looked at my bank balance. The old me looked at it when she'd been paid, and then when the cash machine said 'NO'! Happy to report that despite losing my head a little bit last week, I've still got a handle on my spending!
Have a good day one and all,
CSx

Thanks GISI
No, I didn't go to the interview. The job sounded really good at first. It was with Reed Employment and was a Personal Adviser to people who had been long term unemployed and needed/wanted to get back to work. Sounded great as I really want to do something that heps people rather then listen to my obnoxious clients throwing temper tantrums just because they can't agree on a completion date! Anyhow after the initial application process (on line app and cv, telephone interview, credit check - god knows how i passed that! - and personality test - it appears i have one! :rotfl: they sent a whole job des etc through with details as to this assessment. Basically it seemed to me that as it was recruitment at the end of the day, there was going to be far more emphasis on sales and targets and not so much on the "helping people" aspect. So decided it wasn't for me.
Managing a coffee shop eh? Sounds good. I need a total change too but didn't you find you had to take a big paycut - how is that affecting the DFW??
I'm actually off work at the mo and seeing doc this afternoon. Don't really want him to say i'm depressed or stressed, but on the other hand I totally can't face work (got half way there this morning and had to turn around cos i was in tears!). Its funny but it's kind of not that I can't face work that is making me depressed in as much as i am feeling like such a faliure and a flake that i can't face it if that makes senseObviously all this money/debt stuff is part of the problem too.
Anyway going to go and look for a new job now
Have a good day everyone0 -
Hope I'm not too late to join in this thread...
I'm a lot better than I was, but it's taken me the best part of the 18 months I've been on the DFW wagon to get there & I still have difficulties with over spending!
LoopyLu - I'm off work this week too (though using up leave) cos I just couldn't face it for yet another week. Your situation sounds similar to mine in that there seems to be a steady chipping away at my self esteem whilst I'm there, and it's got to the point where if anyone says 'can I have a word?' I panic & think I'm in trouble again.
What I have found though is that my spending (and eating) are directly linked to my emotions - when I get stressed I react by buying and/or eating to comfort myself, I think it's all linked in with having some control over some aspect of my life. The eating I'm over coming by going back onto weightwatchers points - I'm giving myself the control back far more I find. The spending is harder, because the stuff I waste my money on is stuff that I sometimes need (food, clothes etc) but it's far too easy to overspend in these areas.
I have found that setting myself a goal of a few NSDs each week can help, though I do sometimes instead end up spending more the day before or after :rolleyes:Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Hi CS - no luck with the interview I'm afraid. Have been unemployed for 4 months now:eek: but like a couple of others on here really want a change of direction. Hubby is totally supportive, but am stuck as to what to do:rolleyes:
Have been very good on the spending front recently. Only had one Boots.com slip up. Even went to the shops today and spent zero. I did a mystery shop and made £5. It all counts you know:D
I also did the betfair thing this weekend and made £60, and someone on one of the other boards told me about a search engine that you can use and get paid for. I've made £7 in 5 days, which doesn't sound like much, but it's £360 over a year for literally doing nowt:T
Am feeling positive about not spending this month - so sending the positive waves out to you all.:A :ASave me from spending...
