Hello all! Thought I would post on this thread as I have set myself a challenge not to buy anything but essentials for the whole of April. I know it's only 4th but it's killing me so far! I really want to buy some GHDs and a new handbag...

    Don't do it!!!!

    Lol!

I've been staying at my boyfriends all this week and so I always spend so much more money on stuff like food shoppin when Im with him. It always seems like so much money because I live at home with my parents still so mum does all the shopping you see - yes Im still a home bird! Hoping to move into our own place in nottm this yr but that all depends on money - doesn't everything grrr! Still waiting to hear about supply teaching because I need a reference from university and they are still on easter break I reckon so im still sat earning nothin and spending money i dont have!

Hope this month goes well for everyone! My challenge is to make lists wenever I go shopping (food or otherwise) and stick to it!

  • Hello everyone :hello: just checking in

Well I have had a good week in that I don't think I have bought anything I did not need but I have had an expensive day today.

My home phone broke this morning so I have had to go and buy a new one which I have had to out on my credit card as it cost £90 That is two cordless phones with an answermachine though) and I really can't afford that this month and I have to have a home phone. Oh well never mind I can't dwell on that now. The phones weren't the cheapest but I can't buy the same brand again as the other phones have always played up and my dad had a similar problem with them.

My April challenge (and May, June and July at this rate) is to try and only buy essential things. I will try really really hard!

Hope you all have a good weekend, it looks like its going to rain here now, which is a shame as it has been lovely all week.

  • Well hello ladies (and gents?)

    I'm back from my birthday treat and armed with numbers, so here we go;

    and welcome to you all!

I've been naughty this week, and spent quite unnecessarily, £16 on clothes for DD, £10 on a cd for OH, and several other items that I've conveniently forgotten. I knew my resolve wouldn't last.
However, I haven't spent anything since Thursday (except £4 in the grocers), and my OH treated me all weekend. So am feeling happy, rested, and ready to face the challenge again!

Geri ghd isn't worth it! They're just a huge marketting con! I got some really fab Remington straighteners at a quarter of the price!
    Hi gang,

haven't been around much, not had much heart to concentrate on not spending! So basically spent far more than I should have done recently. Oh well.

    :-(
tmd ((((HUGS)))). What's going on hun? Anything you want to talk about?
I spent 20 quid on some new in trays.
Buffy, that's nearly as bad as £24 on coathangers :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:!!!

sohurt, do I hear the sound of progress? Are you healing a little bit?

Little Chicken, how was the job interview?

Hope I'm not the only Sad Sack (remember him? I'll absolve you of all spending sins if you can tell me which kids' programme he's from, poss early 90s!!!) sitting in on my own on a Saturday night; is there anybody there . . . . . . . . ? ? ? ?

    No, just me then, oh.

    No, just me then, oh.

ooh Sad Sack i'm racking my brains now...i've spent an absolute fortune this weekend..though none of it on credit...told you I was reformed!!

You haven't spent much at all..God, i'm not helping am I? It's just that i'm so used to waving that little piece of plastic and signing on a bit of paper and then in recent months all I've had to do is pop it in a machine and type a number and it lets me get food, clothes, the shoes that'll do for work, the fab bag that is such a bargain cos it's in the supermarket etc etc..you know the rest - it is just so easy to get things when you don't realise you're paying in the end.

I feel like i've had my lightbulb moment (LBM) but not the true wake-up call, that is to come -i'm sending everything off on Monday and just waiting for reality to kick in..

sorry i know this is the spendaholics thread but just had to let that out, i'm covering up how i'm feeling as really worried what the next few weeks will bring..not only from creditor side but from me actually having to live within a budget..wish me luck guys, it's reassuring that we're all trying to get back on track

  • BTW compulsive, I've just realised that my reply was far from cheery, sorry about that..how do I use/quote my number? I'm looking forward to being a clever spendaholic using points (just signed up for pigsback) etc. and trying to budget..

hope you had a lovely break and enjoyed the little treats :)
