Well I went into town yesterday to pay a cheque into the bank. I popped into the charity shop where I work at the weekends and couldn't resist spending. I bought a sampler hand made by a little 10 year old girl in 1842 for £5. 4 Cut glass 1/2 pint tumblers that match my existing glasses for £5. A brand new hat, gloves and scarf set from next for £1 and a Gresley mixing bowl for £2. All really good bargains but not essential. Decided I won't go out the door for the rest of the week as it seems to be the only way to stop spending.
Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot.

What a mixed bag we've been over the past few days hey?

Well after having got over the inital shock of diposing of £55 in a day my spending is now under control again! Had a great weekend, went with my OH and DD to RAF Cosford Museum (FREE ENTRY!). My only 'compulsion' was a McDonald's lunch yeaterday for my DD to say thank you to her for being a very good girl over the holiday.

Welcome to our merry band binnie!

  • Good morning everyone

Well I had a sort of NSD yesterday (only spent money on Tescos shopping which was delivered last night) I have finished decorating the kitchen now so only two more rooms to go.

I'm going into Cambridge to have my haircut later which will cost £45, but I only have to have it done every three months as my hairdresser is really good so its not that expensive yesterday. I will also have to go to Sainsbury's to buy what I forgot from the shopping yesterday. I am going to have my hair highlighted tomorrow which will cost £35 but again I only have it done every three months.

I seem to have spent loads of money since payday so am not feeling very happy today, in fact I am starting to panic which is silly because I just need to be careful for few months and I will be fine. I have an overdraft on my accounts which I will be using this month but I pay it off every month as it is less than my wages so it doesn't cost me very much to use so I will just have to use that for the next couple of months and tighten my belt.

On the positive side I still haven't used my credit cards so thats good and a couple of months ago I would have put everything on there and bought new cushions, candles, ornaments etc for my house so I am doing really well really.

    Have a good day everyone

  • Gah. Bad bad day yesterday. OH's car has died and very painful death. OH is a mechanic, but for some reason mechanic's don't like working on their own cars. The head gasket went AGES ago but he just patch repaired it and now its gone completely. So he is buy his mates old car (ancient renault clio 1.9D) for £50, but it needs a new altenator!! Gah.

Anyway until its all sorted guess who is taxi - yes me!! On the plus side he is giving me petrol money so I don't mind too much, but unfortunatly he is using my car in the evenings so he can go out and see his mates and he rag's it something rotten.

Anyway there is a point to these ramblings. I've had the car for a year. I'm paying £213 a month on a loan for it and about £100-150 a month on petrol (Its a 30 mile round trip to work with no public transport links!). Anyway I need to call the finance company to find out how much there is left on the loan and try and find out how much the car is worth and try and sell it and then buy something cheaper??? Trouble is I love my car lots and lots. :-(

*sighs* Other than that I haven't spent any money apart from food shopping yesterday which cost £20! (I'm pleased cause that is v.good for me!!!)

Funny one yesterday- went to Sainsbury's for a few bits, then remembered my vouchers on my nectar card, so shop only cost £1.50:D Mum did the same:D

Then little trip to home and bargains and spent £17 (oops) but did get some, erm, bargains;)

Dad is about to get a big unexpected pension windfall, so I have been advising him on the best way to spend it:rotfl:

Mille - do you sell the jewellery that you make? The party I went to on Thursday was excellent, The woman doing the party makes all the stuff herself and it was all reasonably priced and truely beautiful. We also got to take the things we bought home with us whihc makes a change from these tyolw of parties. It was a really lovely girly night with snacks, alcohol and jewellery. I'm sure she made quite a bit of money from us. Sorry if you are already doing this just thought it might be a good idea.

Yes, I do sell on a v small scale. Would love to get into parties, but I am rubbish at selling:o
  • Good Morning everyone :hello:

Well I am pleased with my new haircut and my hairdresser said she doen't think I need to have my highlights done today as it is not noticable that they have started to grow out so I have cancelled my appointment today and will have them done in a months time so thats £35 saved this month :D

I am hoping to have a no spend day today and tomorrow. I am going to try and decorate my bedroom and living room today so that tomorrow I can have a relaxing home spa day and just relax over the weekend before going back to work on Monday :(

Its really wet and miserable here so that will help to keep me in doors and away from the shops and I am looking forward to having a nice clean newly decorated house tomorrow which means I won't mind staying in for the next few months to pay for everything.

I should have a fairly cheap weekend as well, my friend is coming to see me with her little girls on Saturday and we may go and feed the ducks if the weather is nice and then I am going to a family party on Saturday night but I am driving so it shouldn't be too expensive.

    Have a good day everyone
