the details I got from nominet and quoted on this thread are all mine - I just didn't want to broadcast them, sorry for the confusion!
But when I type in my web address, someone else's site is there
*edit* please someone help... I'm usually the cocky know-it-all doling out advice on MSE and its freaking me out being the one asking for help!!! I've been at queue position 14 on the fasthosts support line for about 3 hours0 -
I renewed my domain name registration with UKreg before it lapsed
So you loged in then, how long ago?
And you can't do it now.
EDIT:
You know they got hacked a while back, could someone have stollen you account then?
We all had Emails to ask us to change passwords, did you and did you change it?Important information about your UKreg account
Dear ***********
We are writing to inform you that we have recently discovered evidence of a network intrusion involving a Fasthosts server. We have reason to believe that the intruder has gained access to our internal systems, and that this may have in turn given them access to your username and some service passwords.
We have since closed the vulnerability through which access was gained, and have taken steps to ensure that this cannot happen again.
We therefore recommend, as a precaution, that you now change the control panel login password on your account.
This can be changed within your control panel and further details on how to change your password can also be found in the support section of our website.
We strongly recommend that you choose a secure password so that it cannot easily be guessed. The password should include the following:- It should be a minimum of 8 characters long
- It should contain an upper case and a lower case letter
- It should also contain at least one number (numeric)
If you have any questions relating to this, please contact our Customer Support team on 0870 888 3600 or customersupport@fasthosts.co.uk who will be happy to help you.
Yours sincerely,
The Fasthosts Internet team
Please note: this is an original email from Fasthosts. To ensure that you know it is not an illegal attempt to acquire your password, we have not provided a link to login into your control panel. We recommend that you visit the Fasthosts website as normal and click the Customer Login button at the top of the page.0 -
I can log into fasthosts/ukreg - thats no problem - all my account info is there.
Oh my days... maybe Tiscali didn't pass me over to Streamline.net, maybe these little scroats who've hijacked my domain have got their hosting with Streamline... how can they do that though when the domain is registered to me?

yeah I remember - I thought I changed it - maybe I didn't ... things have been mental with setting up my business...
Oh jesus wept, so am I screwed then? Please don't tell me I've lost my domain name0 -
I am sure you can get it back.
I would send them an Email or a letter, hanging on the phone may not help even when you get through.
Did you register with Nominet and print out certificate?
If not you have to send them an Email with your name and email address used to register name and domain name and they will send you details on how to login to your domain name registration with them.
I know I did it last week.
I am saying that because at the end of the day it is them that hold the power and domain registration not fasthosts.
Have you tried forwarding your domain to another IP, maybe it is just a DNS issue and nothing to do with your name at all.0 -
Thanks for all your advice. I'm now officially hystercal and Mr. Phirefly has fled because i shouted at him
I'm at queue position 9 now...0 -

No I didn't know I had to - but that nominet search I just did showed the domain registered to me??? So if I email them, can they help even though I didn't physically register with them or print out a certificate?0 -

I don't think they will help right now, but by registering you will be able to prove you are the owner of that name should you need to in the future.
If you send them an Email today you will have the registration certificate by Wednesday.
I am thinking of it like a cross checking excersise.Welcome email
When a domain name is registered or renewed you will receive a welcome email. The welcome email contains a secure link to access your account. When you access your account for the first time you will be asked to set a password. The link contained in your welcome email is only active for 30 days and once clicked cannot be used again. We recommend that you set up your account password as soon as you receive the welcome email to ensure a high level of security.
Any password that you choose is your individual password and should not be shared. If additional access is required then you can add administrative contacts to your account. Administrative contacts are set up in the same way using a welcome email to set their own password.
If you have not received a welcome email you can access an account for existing domain names using the security code on your original confirmation of registration letter. If you do not have either a welcome email or your original confirmation letter and security code, you need to contact us to activate your account. In order to manually activate your account we need to know the domain name, the registrant name (this is the name in which the domain was registered), and the email contact address given at the time of registration. If all of this information is correct we will issue a welcome email enabling you to activate your account.

AAARGH! you're so helpful but I can't keep up with all these edits
I've just tried to forward my domain at fasthosts, but even though I can log in to my account and my domain name is all there, I've got the same problem I got when i tried to upgrade my account, Its saying...mywebname.co.uk already has a package configured in a different account.0
