Women do get cheaper car insurance, are you going to sue car insurers?

We all know this isn't true of car insurance... my wife has had quotes from the insurers that "specialise in women drivers" and they are way more expensive than the quotes you get from comparison sites. It is just another gimmick.

Even so, you couldn't sue them for discriminating against men by having 'women-only' policies any more than you could sue your local swimming pool for not allowing men into the women's changing rooms. There are plenty of policies available for men. Oh, and men's changing rooms at the baths, too. No-one is being 'excluded'.

    Meanwhile, back on topic.....
Yes, age and sex discrimination is a serious thing but it doesn't apply here. They aren't refusing male customers - just running a 'seasonal' offer which happens to be mothers day, and coincidentally all mothers are women. If they don't run the same offer for men on father's day then I suppose you could consider complaining to the management. Or you could consider taking your complaint to a much higher level and ask exactly why men can't be mothers.

    Hope this helps,

    Darrell

I think you need to get a life! Women do get cheaper car insurance, are you going to sue car insurers? This offer is just a bit of fun, why shouldn't older people get a bit of a discount in a luxury hotel. I am saying this as a person in his 30s. I will be emailing my parents about the offer this evening.

ok so I dont care either way, I can see everybodies points BUT will anyone get angry if I point out that the reason why women get cheaper car insurance is because they cost the insurers less money? Women are slightly better drivers so if insurers only had insured women they would make more money, hence why women are rewarded with a cheaper policy in the first place....

:T What a deal.... As soon as I read this post I rang my cousin with the details as she likes to get her mum out whenever she can, usually managing a few days in a Blackpool hotel.

She's just booked a night in a £235 room for £4.50 as her mum is....... 98yrs old!!!!

The lady on the phone was quite shocked and amused and said that they didn't think that someone of that age would actually take up the offer. Actually my cousin and aunt wanted 2 nights but apparently the offer is only available for a 1 night stay on room rate only and not inc meals. So they have secured and paid in advance the total of £4.50 for a large queen bedded room with its own lounge. As her passport had expired (and she dosn't drive!) they were told it was OK to use my aunts photo bus pass as I.D. as these don't expire, so is still actually valid even though the photo is 33yrs old!!

To celebrate the deal I am joining them both for an evening meal (£15 for 3 courses) at their Manchester Malmaison hotel. We only live quite local but my aunt will be thrilled and feel like the queen mum in her posh room...

Thanks and Well done Money Expert!! :j

Hope your aunt had a lovely stay and you all enjoyed your meal :j

and to all the moaning minnies on this thread, did your Mum really bring you up to worry about other people being able to take up a offer that you couldn't

I hope all the Mums who were treated to a night in a Malmaison Hotel had a great time and happy Mother's Day to all Mums today.

    Hi

Well done I am really pleased that someone of 98 benefited from the offer I hope at that age I am srill able too!

I no longer live in the UK still own a home in the UK so I get Martins money saver tips e mailed to me I find them very informative and interesting and pass them on to my son and family who still lives in the UK.

Personally I think you all need to give your head a shake if all you have to moan about is the injustice of anything given free to anyone regardelss of age sex gender etc.

England is a very expensive place to live at all ages and the discount was given for mothers day so shall I take it that regardless that it was a womans discount as mothers tend to be female you are begruding mothers a little bit of luxury after all they have done for you. Will you complain if the same offer is on for fathers day.

Why do you subscribe to Martins money tips if not to get savings discounts and things free if your lucky enough.

Please get a life or hobby.
