I've got my in-laws ashes in my loft. Can I take them to get a good discount?
  • We have booked Glasgow for a night adding it on to the 2 nights we have at the Hilton.

I am sure it was for room only though and wondered if anyone knew if you booked the breakfast if it all had the discount?

I am 60 so it is a 60% reduction for us.
  • Hi everybody - this is my first post (be gentle with me)

Was moderately horrified to hear that when Martyn rang up about this Malmaison offer, he was informed it was only open to women. (I'm a girl, and, whisper it...a feminist...so you see chaps, there are some girls fighting your corner too!:T )

I work in HR, so am aware that the Sex Discrimination Act (1975) (section 5 if you want to be really specific) explicitly states it is unlawful to discriminate according to gender in the provision of goods and services. That includes hotels.

The age discrimination legislation which came into force in 2006 relates only to the workplace.

So, the conclusion of this is that Malmaison are acting unlawfully if they refuse to make the offer available to men, but they are within the law to relate their discount to age.

I contacted Malmaison to draw their attention to this, and was informed by a lady called Lynette Avery that the offer IS open to men and women. I've replied and said that MSE were informed by the Malmaison PR people it was only open to women...I'll let you know what transpires.

    Best wishes to all Moneysavers.

  • I've thanked you Gordon...as the Malmaison offer is definitely sexist...and then I had a sudden chill come over me that you might not have been being ironic!! Please say it was a tongue in cheek post!

It's "discrimination" not "descrimination"......It is not discrimination......

Make up your mind love! Is it discrimination or not? :rotfl:

Hi all, I am torn between Curiosity Kitten & renard posts, I can see that it is a fun offer aimed at mothers day it didn't enter my mind that it was discriminating because lots of places are doing mothers day deals from card shops to restaurants, I would expect the same to occur on fathers day and again would not expect anyone to feel discriminated against, I am not a father (I don't have the equipment). On contacting Malmaison with the best of intentions there could be a possibility that people will no longer be able to get the discount, if they remove the offer for fear of being discriminating. I am all for peoples rights and equal treatment of all but in the world we live in with far more serious matters in the news everyday, I personally feel (and it is only my opinion) that there are far bigger issues to get up in arms about.

I was in line to enter a nightclub a few weeks ago... women got free entry, men had to pay a fiver. (ahhhhhh discrimination!)
whilst in the nightclub if you could prove it was your birthday you got a free drink (ahhhhhhh discrimination)
That very same nightclub in blackpool would once charge locals £3 to get in and tourists £6. "just confirm your postcode" the woman on the door said. (ahhhh discrimination!!)
I was once refused a meal and drink in a pub because I have epilepsy... (ahhhhh discrimination!)
In football stadiums disabled people can get free entry (ahhhhhh why do i have to pay.....)
Tesco didnt have any of those 75% off vouchers in my local stores, but northern england is saturated with them.... (ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thanks liverbird!... but discrimination)

the point im trying to make is that I could walk out of my door this very minute and within 10 minutes find some form of discrimination. Is it annoying? a little... but there's little you can do about it.

This is a good offer, it's nicely marketed and it will appeal to a lot of people. I just think you should accept it in the spirit it was intended.
You were ''in line'' to enter a nightclub a few weeks ago?

I bet you also make every statement sound like a question as well - just like the Americans and Australians do??!!!!!!!

what on earth does that have to do with anything else in this thread?
  • I have just booked and the offer is open to both sexes. I also agree with a previous "poster" that we are all more than capable of making our own judgements and even more relevant able to check the facts before going off on one!!!
