Rinse your plates under cold water before they go in to make your dishwasher work more effectively - so you can usually get away with a quick wash. Also, remember to empty the filter thingy often so it doesn't get clogged up.
My OH thinks this is being very cheap but...I use J-cloths for most cleaning/dusting, and put them in with the tea towels and cleaning cloths once a week on a hot wash. OH says, "but that's the point, they're disposable!" I use them for a good few times before they need to be binned.0 -
A lot of people have posted tips about babywipes and how useful/versatile they are. My tip is that you can either buy (or make) reuseable washable wipes. I bought these for nappy changes, but they become useful for everything, dusting, wiping hands/fingers/faces/furniture, cleaning etc etc.
I have two smallish tupperware tubs (about half the size of a johnsons baby wipe packet) which I keep wet wipes in (one upstairs and one in my bag). To make them into wet wipes, just add water to the tub, then any nice smelly or essential oils you fancy, stir it up a little and then chuck in a load of screwed up wipes (they're only small) till you have the right level of wetness for you.
I always have mine really wet, but then squeeze out the excess before use.
Chuck them in with your towels when you do your washing.
This one saves loads of money (how expensive are wipes these days!!!) and is good for people with sensitive skin etc, means you can have wipes in the scent you want and are good for the enviroment!4oz rice crispies, 4oz butter, 4 mars bars.Melt, mix, cool, eat. Yummy!0 -
Another way with sauce is to hold the lid end firmly, and swing your arm in a windmill motion - nott only does the solid-like sauce reform but it also takes the sauce to the top of the bottle. Also, if you only have a little left in the bottle and it's a bit firm, pour in a little drop of malt vinegar.PerrilessPerrilessPerrilessPerriless[/ :j

If you've got a big plant with lots of leaves which takes forever and a day to dust, the solution is to give it a shower.
Either use your ordinary bathroom shower (cold water), and leave it in there to drip dry. Alternatively take the plant outside and water from above with a watering can which has a sprinkle rose thingy attachment on the end of the spout.
Your plant will love it as it'll be able to get its food (ie light) through all its leaves instead of having to fight the dust.0 -

Someone told me tomato ketchup works too but haven't tried that.
Tomato sauce should work too because there was one day when I was eating lunch at school - such a long time ago  - I accidently dropped a very dull looking 1p into some tomato sauce in the corner of my tray. I fished it out and wiped it with my napkin and it was like new again!
Also, my mum, when she is finished with her milk cartons/plastic bottles, cuts the top off of them and leaves them beside the kettle for used tea bags. Saves a trail of tea to the bin. :coffee:

If you do washing up by hand, rub in handcream before you put on rubber gloves - it makes them easier to get on & off and the heat in the water opens your pores and the cream is absorbed = really soft hands!
If you have really dry skin patches on your feet, rub in loads of moisturiser, put on plastic bags (carriers without holes, or large food bags are ideal) then put on some warm socks. Ideally wear these overnight, or failing that wjilst you watch TV in the evening....your feet will be really soft afterwards! The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

and another.....
Used T-Bags (especially peppermint & camomile ones) are great for relieving puffy eyes. Just cool them in the fridge, lie back and pop them over closed eyelids for 10 minutes or so......The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

Back to the baby wipes / face wipes - Do you find that with baby wipes, the ones at the bottom are always soggy and wet, while the top ones are just moist? (they don't have a chance to dry out with a baby's bum!)...
When you buy them, store them in your cupboard UPSIDE DOWN...
Think about it - they have sat in a store/warehouse for weeks right side up - all the moisture going to the bottom of the pack...Turn them the other way up to re-distribute the moisture evenly in the pack while you store them!!....Work to Live - don't Live to Work!!:beer:0 -
