Someone passed this to me and it works brilliantly!
Mix some white vinegar with water (exact percentage is irrelevant, I use a weak solution) and spray on shower door/ Wipe over with wet sponge and then buff with dry cloth. Sparkling doors in seconds - and almost free too. :T0 -

On the rare occasions I use my dishwasher (came with the house, would never think of buying one myself to be honest as there is only the 2 of us) I always put my dishclothes in so they get a good cleaning along with the dishes0

On the subject of the drawstring bags for washing tablets - I put bras and other small things that say hand wash only in the bags then just stick them in the machine.
I also had loads of the balls for liquid lying about, I switched to a cheaper Asda's own liquid (2 for £4.00) which doesn't come with the ball, and just use the old containers. If you ever happen to loose them all you can requests new ones for free off the persil website...0 -
Useless, but true:
BBQ Sauce can be made by mixing cola syrup with ketchup. Honestly. Try it if you've got soda stream chemicals lying around ;-)
Similarly, I've had compliments from the paying public for my 'Marie Rose' sauce (for prawn cocktails) - Ketchup, mayo and an (optional) dash of Worcester Sauce. But didn't I feel like the chef from heaven when I heard the feedback!0 -
Here are my tips, you have to have tea tree and lavender oil but I usually buy them in bulk!
Few drops of tea tree at the bottom of you bin will stop it smelling.
A few drops of tea tree and/or lavender put in a squirty bottle with water, spray it on your children's hair before school and it's supposed to keep nits away.
If your child has nits, mix a few drops of tea tree with some normal conditioner in a small bottle and use that before combing.
Um lavender is good to use neat on burns and cuts, my step-MIL puts a drop of lavender onto the pad part of a plaster before sticking the plaster on.
Oh and mice don't like the smell of peppermintFluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!
SPC2 #571 - trying to get as much as possible0 -
One of my favourites that Ive used for years is when you wash up wine glasses etc. Rinse in hot water and then stand upside down on a piece of kitchen roll. When they dry there are no embarrassing dried bubble marks when serving drinks.
They are crystal clear.
Well I liked it.

I too have a few "top tips" here goes..
I also keep wet wipes with me at all times and i dont even have any kids, they are really good for having a quick clean round dashboard gear stick and driving wheel in the car if you are stuck in traffic.
Another of my favs is if you run out of shaving gel /foam when shaving ya legs just use hair conditioner instead as it softens the hairs.
If you have a George Foreman grill that is a nightmare to clean use oil applied with a pasrty brush in the draining channels as it stops the grease from sticking and makes it easier to clean.
Always carry vaseline if you have new shoes on as you can rub a bit of vaseline on the part of your foot that is hurting (potential blister) and on the bit of the shoe thats rubbing, once it is greased up it will not rub.
I use used envelopes from my recycling bin to write shopping lists on then i put them back into recycling bin.
Finally having worked for a holiday company for 3 years looking after holiday makers who were more than happy to leave leftover shampoos, conditioners, wet wipes etc i used shampoo for dishwashing and hand washing clothes also used it as shampoo and shower gel, used wet wipes to wipe down all surfaces and for refreshing face hand etc on hot sunny days days.
saved lots of money having spent 6 month of the year buying no cosmetics but using holiday makers leftovers. :T0 -
This must be so obvious to everyone but that's the name of the thread so......
A quick 5 minute clean around of the living room/kitchen before going to bed will save so much time when it comes to the weekly clean. It never occured to me to do this and so every Saturday was spent cleaning which could sometimes take me hours and hours. Now I tidy and declutter on a daily basis, and wash and dry the dishes at the end of the evening and on a Saturday I only need to dust and hoover the living room and mop the kichen floor now.
Mind you, I still can't work up the enthusiasm to clean the bathroom more than once a week :rolleyes:0 -
Tip received from my daughter-in-law.
After removing clothes from the washing machine, fold them before putting in the drier and they won't need ironing.0
