Ive thought of some more having spoke to my mam last night so here goes.. use baby oil on all of your stainless steel it keeps it nice and shiny. just put a bit on some kitchen roll, wipe on and then use clean kitchen roll to wipe off. If the surface is really dirty then hot soapy water and a sponge first.

In my dishwasher the tablet never seems to fit and consequently doesnt pop out into the wash, now we just use half a tablet each time so we get twice as many washes from one box.

Thanks to all the people who suggested different stuff in squirty bottles i especially like the zoflora as an air freshner

Which made me remember this....when you have your radiators on dab on old or free sample perfumes on them it makes the room smell lovely.

When your car airfreshener tree needs replacing - don't throw it away if it still has some perfume left - cut a piece off the end and put it inyour vacuum cleaner bag to send out the perfume each time you use it. When changing bag/emptying drum, just cut off another piece and so on.

Water and vinegar - put in old spray bottle is ideal for cleaning windows, rub off with crumpled newspaper.

Comfort Fabrice - the perfumed water that you put into your steam iron - when you've finished the bottle, don't throw it away - just refill with plain water and it smells almost as strong, perfuming your ironing just as well. I've refilled my bottle now about half a dozen times and its still nice and smelly!

Definately don't use Zoflora if you have cats, as it's highly toxic to them! This applies to all cleaners and disinfectants that go cloudy in water.

When I was looking at this site to make sure we were doing everything possible to find the cheapest utilites provider, I remembered we had Econonmy 7!! Duoh. Not only that, we looked at the timer and it cuts in at 9pm at night. Other half explained this was because it is just a clunky mechanical device and not reliable. Result - we put dishwasher and washing machine on at night!
I urge everyone who is on Economy 7 to check when it cuts in (Other half has said we'll have to keep an eye on it as it is out of sinc and will move times)

I've read all the tips for baby wipes - but think one use has been missed - they're great for cleaning white trainers/quickly cleaning mud etc off shoes (if no time to clean and about to go on school run!)

Apols if this has already been listed, its the end of a long day at work!!! :j

When we had a paper hoover bag I used to cut open the bag when full and empty it,then use bulldog clips to reseal it.They last a long time like that.
If you hang shirts on the line outside,on hangers, they dry much more quickly. You need wire hangers so you can bend the hook small enough to stop it falling off if windy.
I cut the top open on milk cartons as soon as they are finished and wash them out so I can use them for freezing stock.

I picked up a good tip ages ago, when you cut the corner off a drink carton, snip the other corner to stop it glugging and turn the corners up not down when you put it in the fridge, that way it doesn't drip!

Window cleaners use a single drop of parrafine in the water to give your windows that extra shine especially if you use a rubber blade to take the water off after cleaning.

Another ketchup tip to get the last bit out is to use vinegar to swill it out.

If you stand the old bottle on top of the new one the last drop moves on down eventually and you don't waste a thing!

P.S. the straw thing works with a bottle of beer too but be warned when you drink it it comes out very very fast so be prepared!

having a teenage daughter just starting to help in the kitchen, however infrequently, makes me realise what is not as obvious as i thought.

In particular when she empties the dishwasher and puts utensils in the drawer - I never thought to tell her to put the fish slice in pointing downwards so that it didn't catch and stop the drawer opening.

any one know how to unjam a kitchen drawer?
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
