Gosh! I never thought to mention this as a tip. I do this all the time - never even have to think about it.

ok, i know this is very basic tip, but as i turn the house upside down looking for a manual again.....

keep ALL instruction manuals in the same place, with the receipt stapled to it. then if it breaks, you know what might be wrong, and if it is still in warranty.

now i will go and practice this...

    i will try harder

If I could add to this - keep your receipts out of the sunlight - they fade quickly!

This tip works very well if you have an old treasured china vase with a crack in that the water would leak out of, you just have to cut the pop bottle to below the top of the vase and keep it topped up with water

You can reuse baby wipes as well. Just bung them in the washing machine and they can be washed quite a few times before they start to look at bit ropey.

If you use cloth nappies and use paper instead of washable liners, these can be put in the washing machine also.

Put them in one of those draw string bags you get free with washing tablets and hang the bag on the washing line to dry.

IF you've been naughty and bought a ready made sauce, get the last bit out of it by putting in the tiniest bit of water, put the lid back on, and shake. Gets all of it out first time.

I used to try and swoosh it round without the lid on, using loads of water, for YEARS until I twigged about this just a few months ago!! Doh!

i hated trying to get last bit of ketchup out of bottles, shaking it up and down until one of my kids pointed out that stored upsoide down it'd all come to the top. duh.
I am not keen on the smell, but if you put a small amout of vinegar in the bottle and give it a good shake it should get all of your ketchup/brown sauce of the inside of the bottle
  • Baby wipes again:
Found two new uses for them this week:
cleaned permanent marker off LO's hands (kind of expected it to work), but then got the permanent marker marks off the kitchen work top with the same baby wipe (just a bit of extra elbow-grease)!

Secondly, dh wanted to give his bicycle a good clean so I gave him all my best de-greasers: vinegar, borax, etc. He came back with a sparkly bike saying the baby wipes were amazing, clean spokes in one swipe and they'd removed oil and grease build ups he hadn't been able to shift for years! :j
