Urine on mattress - please help!

My DS has wet the bed and it's soaked into his mattress. Any ideas on cleaning it?

    Thanks Gingham Ribbon

I'll try the bicarb and hope for the best as I need it back on his bed tonight.

  • Let DD sleep in my bed last night, she hasnt wet for months so I thought it would be safe...WRONG
She has wet right through my mattress. Other than scrubbing with soap and water, what can I do to eliminate wee smell, any tips or ideas, please?
You can if you think you can!
  • The first thing you need to do is to lift the mattress off the bed so that nothing goes and soaks through to the rest of the bed, slats or bed base. I get this occasionally from my little one, and little peoples wee doesn't seem to smell too bad, so a slight soak with diluted vinegar with a drop of teatree oil seems to do the trick.

Help! My DD wet the bed last night but didn't notice until she woke up this morning so it's soaked right through the mattress to the underneath. What do I do? I've currently got towels on the top of the mattress with toy boxes ontop to try and draw the moisture out but I don't know what to do next :o If I flip the mattress and repeat the towels/toyboxes (or do a kim & aggie and dance on the towels...what would the neighbours think :rotfl:) will it be okay? Then how do I get rid of the smell etc?

Quilt is already in the wash, bedding will be going in as soon as it's done

Any help will be appreciated as I need it all sorted before she goes to bed at 6.30!

I'd scrub it down with disinfectant first then if the weather is good where you are, any chance you can drag it outside? Fresh air is the best deodorizer I know of for ANYTHING! And this will help dry it too;) If you can't get it outside I'd leave it propped up with pleanty of room for the air to curculate around it, in a room with the heating on, windows open & door closed.

    HTH

    Good luck;)

Try not to overwet the mattress while you are cleaning it and I think your towel idea a la Kim and Aggie is a good one. If it isnt dry by tonight could she sleep in a sleeping bag for tonight maybe? Any slight damp patches could be blitzed with a hairdryer.

It may be a good idea to invest in a mattress protector. Primark`s start at £5 for a single and they arent plastic so are comfy to sleep on and it helps when little ones are sick etc. It is quite a windy day today so Lillibet`s idea of drying it outside is great if you can lug it there! Good luck!
