or fabric condition diluted in a spray bottle...
I got an electric bed for my step dad and he did the same...
since he has now died and I have the bed myself I washed it with vanish stain remover then sprayed it with fabric condition it's like new...it took awhile to sort but the end results were great...:D

    Plans for 2009

Do you have, or can you borrow, a steam cleaner from anyone??

When i moved to my new home, the carpets smelt of cats wee.
A good zapping with the steam cleaner killed all the odour-producing bacteria, without making everything wet in the process, so it would work great for your problem, i'm sure.

    Good luck
  • Thanks for your replies guys - I will try the febreeze, and then try to find a steam cleaner!
  • Or you could try a solution of bicarb and vinegar, wait for it to dry and hoover it up?
  • Pet urine and stain remover liquid from pets at home, they do a branded one and their own brand, own brand smells of baby powder.. It's meant for carpets and sofas but works on other stuff too.

Anyway, I used this a lot when my son was having a phase of weeing my bed after sneaking in during the night, saturate the patch of mattress, leave for 10 mins then blot the excess with white kitchen towel, you should actually be able to see the urine "lifting" from the mattress as your kitchen paper will be yellow!

    Hi Sammy :)

We have an older thread covering this problem, so I've added your query to it to help keep all the suggestions for remedies in one place.

    Good luck :)

I'm glad I found this thread. my 7 yo wet the bed last night and didn't tell me- I've only just found out about it in the afternoon. So it's been soaking for over 12 hours. The only thing I have to hand is talc, so I've sprinkled that all over the wet bit, the window's open but it's such a wet and humid day I don't think that'll help much.
I'm quite annoyed as he missed the waterproof mat (of course!) and the bed is only a month old and he never wets the bed!!
Just call me Nodwah the thread killer
  • Febreeze will do it, but you need to pour most of the bottle on it for it to work. Morrison's do a good cheaper version. It will take a couple of days to dry out though.

  • Hi everyone
My DS wet the bed last night but only decided to tell me when he got up before school (he is 10 so this is a 1st since he was about 2)
So just a question as to what will be this best thing to clean the matress with?
    Thank you

    Hi pauleyc,

There's an earlier thread with lots of ideas that should help so I've added your post to it to keep the suggestions together.
