I didn't think to freeze grated cheese!
There was a thread about people freezing sandwiches so I keep one or two frozen cheese and pickle sandwiches in case I run out of food. They're great if you're going out in the morning and you put in your bag for lunch.Lurker extraordinaire! no. 4950

I freeze mine in smaller usable amounts, just get a couple of bags out if I need more. I've even seen me use it from frozen in recipes when I've not got enough out.
Tips - grated is best, smaller usable amounts to save waste, put 'in' bags and get the air out then into a box side by side/on top of each other so you end up with pieces that are easier to manage/stackOne day I might be more organised...........

I freeze mine in 50g blocks, I like that when you grate it, it goes all crumbly!
I as dubious at first and just froze 1 small block as a 'tester' now when I open a new cheese I cube it, bag it and freeze it.
I find 50g blocks work, because you rarely need less, but you can always take out more then one!
Oh and if you forget to defrost, 20 seconds in the microwave or 20 minutes on the side make it usable!!!We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. Always freeze cheese but am too lazy to grate it first. It is more crumbly once its defrosted but grates more easily then and I can still slice it and I don't mind the odd bit that crumbles off - chefs perks0

I love cooking, but don't enjoy things that take up more of my precious time :A0 -
So say i wanted to put some cheese into a white sauce, i have made the white sauce and it is sitting there ready and hot in the pan... can i just grab a handful of the frozen cheese from the freezer and bung it straight in....or do i have to defrost etc ??Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Morning all
Can anyone tell me if you can freeze cheese please?
Not normally in this position as usually scoff the lot, but still have alot from Christmas left over (all still in date, just). Some quite big pieces so would prefer not to waste them in poss.
Also any ideas of how i can cut back on my contact lense expenses of £30.00 per month. (i appreciate getting some glasses would help) but have broken nose 3 times and glasses uncomfortable. I know you can get them on line cheaper but not sure about how to go about this. Any help gratefully received.

You can freeze cheeseSome people say that it can be crumbly on defrosting, so advise grating it first.
