yes you can I buy extra when ever I see offers on and freeze all types without any problems
  • Yes, you can.

I find that if you freeze a cheese like cheddar, it goes crumbly after it's been defrosted, so it's a bit awkward to slice for your sarnies. ;)

If you grate it first then it doesnt tend to do this. I got really sick of throwing away mouldy cheese but since I discovered being able to freeze the grated stuff I've been pleased with less wastage and being able to take advantage of good offers like the OP mentions.

    Evening all,

As the title says can I freeze cheese? Morrisons have some lovely cheese on special at the minute, I'd love to stock up as we go through cheese as if its going out of fashion!!

You can , though as has been said, if it's pre-packed it will last in the fridge for ages. I bought some this week with an October date on it ;)

I'll add this to the existing Freezing Cheese thread.

Can I refreeze defrosted cheddar cheese? I defrosted cheese to use in a recipe for Delia's vegetarian (sausage roll type) rolls. I then baked the vegetarian rolls and according to Delia's recipe the veggie rolls can now be frozen but i am concerned the cheese I used was previously frozen and don't want to make everyone ill as these are going to be eaten over Christmas. Thanks in advance for your help!

My workplace has 'heeuuuge' chunks of cheddar left over after buffet lunches - it's been cut into wedges so won't keep for too long, so I've frozen it and will see how it turns out. I wish I'd grated it first after reading this though ... but crumbly will be fine for sandwiches and gratins.

    Hi NAEFAGS,

You can indeed. I prefer to grate it before freezing as hard cheese can go a little crumbly after it's been frozen. This earlier thread has lots of advice:

    can I freeze cheese

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the replies together.
