Tesco's tightening up of coupon redemption

I know someone who works for Tesco, just like standingupformyself says. No such new memo has been received from HO, she tells me (see post by maiden_scotland).
I think some stores make it up (or maybe really believe it's come from HO) when what they are really quoting is their own Store Manager's policy.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

thanks for that post -i have been lurking here for a while but finally signed up! I am trying to sort our budget out as we have just committed to a huge new mortgage so am keen to suss out this stuff sooner rather than later! Trouble is i work from home wth 2 businesses to run so shopping around isn't easy time wise. can you use coupons online via delivery driver??
Taz xx
I know that delivery drivers can accept £5 off £50 MOCS and suchlike, but I don't think they would accept a pile of random food MOCS, wouldn't expect them to know the policy or be responsible for checking all the dates & that they are not store-specific, etc. Not even some till ops instore are confident with them, often a Manager has to check my MOCS.
So I am pretty sure a delivery driver would say you can't use them, no doubt they think you have to buy the product (as most people think!).
Personally, I believe the best savings are definitely to be made instore, with regular smallish transactions. Can't see how anyone can save as much money with online ordering; I normally get £25+ of stuff at Tesco and pay well under a fiver for my shopping and sometimes just a few pence (depending on what different MOCS I have printed!).PRIVATE 'PCN'? wow thats a lot of saving! I will just have to try it. I did try last year in a large tesco an saved £30 but the next time the policy had changed. Once the move hs happened I'll be closer to a tesco, so will be easier. Do sainsburys allow coupons at all? Finally stopped lurking and took the MSE leap!Always on the look out for a bargain and freebies!0

The new Tesco at Oxford Road, Reading refused my one moc last Tuesday. SA called the supervisor over and she would not put my 25p moc through and asked if I had bought the product. When I said no but you usually take them if you sell it she said that they were not takng any if you had not bought the product. Obviously different stores have different policies.0

Yes, same with mine although it's not the nearest store to me. I found which was the best by trial & error - the 2 nearest Tesco only accept one coupon, and very grudgingly too. I would rather go to Waitrose if they were all as miserable as that lot, at least my nearest Waity's are polite and allow 3 coupons.
I never go to the 2 nearest Tesco now - they have lost my business and it's their loss as I spend a lot of completely redeemable coupons, very regularly. But luckily I still have one coupon-friendly store who understand the bigger picture (and there is another good one 15 mins away if I fancy a drive).
Oh and Taz, no, it's not allowed at Sainsburys. Only Asda, Waitrose and Tesco.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Self Scan til today refused all coupons except those on products actually purchased for me in.
Message appeared on screen 'coupon not allowed'.
Even refused a 'Birds Eye Voucher' for £5.00 (which I got for having a caterpillar in my frozen peas!) when I had spent £4.98 on Birds eye products !!

I get nervous when using couponds now, even thought they are legit, self scan tills are usually taped over for coupons near me0
