Tesco's tightening up of coupon redemption

Options
My local (Ipswich store) has tightened up its policy on redemption of vouchers for products you haven't actually bought. Down from 5 to 3 - has anyone else noticed a clamp down?

I was in my Tesco yesterday and the SA would not accept any coupons on items not purchased. Said they had a letter from head office on Tuesday. Will try again next week and see if it was just the SA or really a policy change.

I got the shock of my life when I used the SS tills at my local store the other day. I'd scanned a wardrobe voucher and went to insert it in the slot, but the slot was sealed-up! Lady on SS came over and said I could only use 2 moc's. This is their new policy, and you have to show her the moc's you want to use. Luckily, she accepted the wardrobe voucher (despite only buying a pk of knickers for DD, lol) and one other moc. Next time I visit that store i will have to make sure I have some high value mocs with me:)
  • I was told last week "we are now only allowed to accept coupons when you have bought the product"so I tried again yesterday with different SA and again was told exactly the same thing and they are usually both happy scanners so it's not looking good.I too have a pile of huggies coupons which it looks like I'm going to be stuck with.

Don't think anything's really changed. Individual stores will always have their own policy regarding coupons depending on how many are used in that store.

I can still use 2 or 3 coupons in my store no problem.

Heard the SA's talking in my store about an email going around saying to accept 3 if they hadn't bought the product, but this can change on a spin anyway!!

If your store tightens up on its coupons policy - wait a few weeks and then try again - but don't try and use too many that it causes attention

Nothing has changed in my locals. One store allows one coupon, the next allows 3 if you are lucky, the other allows any amount as long as they are different coupons (your whole shopping if you want).

Guess which one I drive to?????????????:D

And don't feel you'll be stuck with piles of Huggies vouchers, there is always Asda or Waitrose to use them in. Or sell them on eBay. Or buy Huggies wipes!

  • Got told at my local that they could only take 3 coupons. I had to argue the point that several were Mr T's extra points coupons and I HAD (yes I did raise my voice!) bought all the items - and why would Tesco send them to me if I could not use them. Grudgingly accepted my coupons and no others were accepted.

Mine has been saying 1 (non-purchased item) coupon per purchase for a while now. If you get a good SA, I try up to 3.

My friend has just emailed me to say that she was stopped fom using lnternet coupons today in store as apparently they have had a letter from Head Office saying that they cannot be used anymore. Has anyone else found this?

The SA refused my coupons today, said you now have to buy the product, if they have changed their policy I will say goodbye to Mr T as only shop there because they accept coupons
