btw, some of us have forecast that this will eventually happen due to people giving in coupons that tesco cannot redeem. If it IS a new policy, I hope those that adopt said practice are proud of themselves.

Comments like this aren't going to have any more effect than pleadings and lectures - people can and will make up their own minds what they want to do. I don't have any more clue than anyone else as to what rules Tesco may or may not issue re coupon acceptance or what their reasons may be if they do so; but I can say from experience in several different stores that every now and then each store seems to have a 'clamp-down', then a little while later they seem to accept coupons without question.
  • They are very strict in the Liverpool stores. Sometimes they will take 3, other times it is 1 or non if you don't buy the item.
They have never accepted the Daily Mail book coupons.
I have always been very envious of the people who can do their weekly shop on coupons.

No doubt you will be equally proud of yourself for using 13 of the same coupon? (This is clearly against Tesco's 'official' policy.) Glass houses and stones spring to mind!
  • Can I ask where you get all these coupons from? I've only ever got what is sent out to me with my quarterly statement
    Thanks

  • I popped into into my local Tescos last week for a gift and was told that the new policy was that they would take MOC's up to one third of the bill or £5! Went in the next day for my regular shop and the girl took them all (approx £8) so who knows!!!!

You've misunderstood which coupons we are using, but so do many people.

Don't don't don't (no, don't!) use your Tesco clubcard vouchers instore. They are best redeemed online for clubcard Deals on the Tesco website. A fiver is worth £20 in Deals and they are NOT just Days Out for kiddies, there's loads and loads of options.

The coupons we are using instore are any in-date money-off coupons (e.g. £1 off Benecol, or £1.25 off Huggies, or even £1 off a stated magazine, etc., etc.). You can collect these from magazines, pick them up instore or at foodie events, buy on eBay, or even print free ones on sites as mentioned by Stebiz, above.

In Asda, Waitrose or Tesco YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY THE PRODUCT STATED, most of their stores will accept at least one random coupon off your shopping (any shopping, not necessarily the products on the coupons). This is OK as long as they stock the product and the coupon doesn't specify one Supermarket (i.e. not coupons with a store logo on, not even if you are in that same store unless you are buying the product of course).

It's not hard to collect some. Click on Stebiz' links and print away, then go & ask in your nearest Tesco or Waitrose. :D Asda are a bit rubbish at accepting internet printed ones so best only take non-internet prints there as a newbie-coupon-user.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • I have just come back from Tesco......... using SS........ I used about 8 coupons and got over £9.50 off my bill..... no problem,
Daughter was doing her shopping too, she spent £52 and had £15 worth of coupons, no problem.
In Fact the only problem was the embarrasing noise the till made every time because the coupon slot was so full and wasnt accepting them going in....

Couponing still alive in my neck of the south-coast!

The self scan at my local tesco was starting to beep for approval more regularly (seemed to be if over a third of the bill or more than 2 coupons) so tried using a normal till for a change but the nervous looking chap said only supposed to take one coupon if not buying any of the products. Went back to self scan yesterday, used 2 coupons, no beep but to my horror heard a quiet beep from the supervisors till which I was next to and on their screen was a clubcard number and in red a list of the coupons I had used over the last few transactions. Best not to use the clubcard I guess!

Which stones am I throwing please?
    Re-read what i said.

"People giving in coupons tesco CANNOT REDEEM"
Yes, 13 of the same is against the OFFICIAL policy but as we know, the policy varies from store to store. However, they WILL STILL BE ABLE TO REDEEM EVERY ONE OF THOSE 13 VOUCHERS. Its not like I gave in 3 x £4 daily mail ones. And huggies nappies are bought in their thousands week in week out so the extra coupons will make no difference.

(Also, the reason i took a chance and gave in 13 the same was because I feared tesco had changed its policy due to abuse and thought I'd just get shut of as many as possible.)

So, sorry, but I was not standing in a glass house and throwing stones. :D If you want to quote proverbs, please get em right! :D
