Hi SA,
I’ve posted before that Powergen’s Energy Online Duel Fuel tariff total discount is £43.00, per annum. This figure is then divided by 4 and £10.75 discount applied to each quarterly statement.
You have posted that 2 elements of their discount are applied annually.
I contacted Powergen CS on the 10th November and spoke to a supervisor.
Again I was informed that their total discount of £43.00, is divided by 4 and applied to statements quarterly.
How confident are you that your version is correct? Information given out by Powergen CS reps in the past has been somewhat questionable.Do It To Them Before They Do It To You

Very confident!

Thank you all for your replies
. I have just tried the Powergen 0800 number again, and despite hearing a message stating that there is a higher than usual waiting time, my call was answered in less than 1 minute. I spoke to a very helpful lady who assured me that although my letter didn't state it, I am indeed to receive the expected £43 discount AND the 1000 Tesco points.
.
Again, thank you all for taking the time to repond to my posts.

Hi I've been using the mse site since january but this is my first forum post!
I hope this hasn't been answered alread- but I was wanting to change to Powergen's AgeConcern tariff as am a low user (am with swalec as mo). Does any one know if this tarif will be changing for new customer at the end of November along with it's regular tarif?
I'm not sure whether to change now or wait to see what happens at the end of November? Any suggestions?
Thanks. ;D0 -
Hi hlisa400,
Welcome aboard.
“Customers on Powergen's Age Concern tariff, and those who switched to their Online or Capped plans before 3rd November are unaffected by this price increase”.
The above was found on the uSwitch website so it would appear that there will be a change to Powergen’s Age Concern tariff on the 29th November, for new customers.
You state that you are a “Low User” so waiting another 2 weeks will make very little difference.
I would suggest that you run your annual consumption figures through a couple of comparison websites. Doing this will indicate which utility company is cheapest for gas, electricity or duel fuel.Do It To Them Before They Do It To You

I too phoned Pgen and spoke to a supervisor and you`re quite right about the £43 per year discount.
It should be paid every 91 days (£10-75) when a bill should be generated.
Of course Pgen and many other companies rely on people not knowing, not caring, inertia, and a variety of other reasons not to chase them up when things are not right.
Then of course when you do speak to them all sorts of excuses and waffle is forthcoming to try and bamboozle you.0 -
Thanks Fastflys! Will Do. ;D0

I must be a very lucky person, I have never been wrongly billed or ever let down by powergen and as far as their charges are concerned I find them reasonable compared with other companies0

I applied to switch to Powergen online tarif via EnergyHelpLine on 25 Oct and have heard absolutely nothing since then.
Phoned Powergen yesterday and after a wait on the phone I spoke to a representative. She said that they had no record of my application to switch on their system :o and suggested I phone EnergyHelpline to confirm they'd passed the details on.
I did this and the lady there said that they had passed them on and would phone Powergen to find out what was going on...she said she'd phone me back......but not heard anything yet ???
who said switching was easy????0 -
I switched thru currys and after a long period my electricty has been switched after change of two account numbers due to processing errors. Still waiting for Gas.
However, due to change in account numbers i was not likely to get the curry's vouchers Powergen agreed to compensate me for £40 and have already got the cheque. I guess cash is better than vouchers.0
