I did some with choc chips in for the kids and some with raisins in for us - raisin ones are yummy and the raisins don't burn or anything either ;) I though raisins would stretch the mix further but we still ate them all between Sat afternoon and Sunday eve :)

I have found no matter how many Twinks hobnobs I make, they always disappear at a rate of knots!

At least I know what is in them...I have orders now from colleagues at work and a few friends...I will have to distribute the recipe!

    Evening folks...

thought i had better post the recipe for bagels i have just made i altered it to make poppy seed and onion ones .......

what can i say apart from NOM NOM NOM :rotfl: ... just had one for my tea..toasted with cream cheese  ...... so i thought i had better come and share the recipe ;) have just put it on the grocery thread but i know you don't all go there

    bagels -makes 8
    1. 1 cup warm water
    2. 1 tbs soft butter
    3. 1tsp sugar
    4. 3tsp salt
    5. 3 cups white bread flour
    6. 1 1/2 tsp yeast..... i used 20g of fresh
    7. 1tbs poppy seeds
    8. 2 tbsp fried onions (the crispy ones in tubs for salads)
    • tip the flour and salt into a large bowl and make a well in the centre
    • mix the fresh yeast, sugar and water and pour into the well add the butter (if using dried yeast -tip into flour but don't add the salt until you are kneading in the seeds n onions;) )
    • mix to form a soft dough
    • tip in the onions and poppy seeds
    • and knead to combine
    • leave to prove until double in size
    • cut into 8 pieces..mine were about 90g
    • roll into a sausage -about 9" - form into a ring and pinch the edges together (I formed mine around a barts spice bottle to get even-ish sizes;) )
    • place on a greased baking sheet -or on a silicone liner, cover loosely with oiled cling film or a split carrier bag and leave to prove for 20 mins
    • bring a pan of water to the boil, pop 2-3 bagles into the pan and cook for 1 min -turning half way through...they do swell slightly
    • lift out and gently shake to remove water
    • place on silicone liner /oiled baking sheet and when all done place in a preheated oven -200c/400f/gas 6 and bake for about 15-20 mins
    • remove onto cooling rack and cool
Toasted they are stunning..so im super impressed. Now i know the shop ones are awful unless toasted -guess who had her 1st one straight out of the packet and wondered why they were so awful :rotfl: ..but i reckon these ones could be allright...

guess i might have to do some sultana and cinnamon or mixed spice ones next time :D

right best get them bagged up and into the freezer in the basement..out of my way :p.... glad i decided to wait rather than have my tea..as i would have had one of these anyway..so no damage done :T

will pop back later..just wanted to share....back off to my cook books to see what my next experiment is going to be :rotfl:

    Blooming cheek!
I'd made traybakes on Saturday, cinnamon and raisin, lemon drizzle and cherry almond!! So while you were all baking on Sunday mine were already in the freezer!!!

Still no idea what went on though!

Tinternet's playing silly devils tonight, no thanks buttons, quotes etc

A girl at work asked me for my muffin recipe last week and brought me one in to sample this afternoon..........it lay like a brick in my stomach! Then when I got home my tea was a disaster:mad: I tried Delia's cheats recipe for egg florentine - I make it to my own recipe quite often but hers sounded nice but I won't do it again, too saucy and I slipped up with the boiled eggs and they were soft.....ever tried to peel a soft boiled egg  So not a happy bunny tonight, the way I feel now I won't be eating anything else tonight!

    Well done Chloebelle :T :T :T :T

    See you tomorrow folks :A

    Rockie...

perhaps your workmate could sell the muffins to all us ladies on here...we could use them to keep us full all day :rotfl:
Isn't it amazing how several people can get such different results from the same recipe .....

Im still full from my bagel...and the rest are bagged and tucked in the freezer in the basement.... lets see how long i can ignore them;) not having another till the weekend when hubby is in for brekkie :D

    Well done Chloebelle. :T :T

Feel really tired and drained tonight. Not sure why but I've had a bath and now I'm going to have a cuppa and a read. Nearly finished the new Sophie Kinsella, a fact that is making OH very nervous.... he knows that I'll go back to being a chatterbox once I'm bored again. :D

Friend coming for lunch tomorrow so I best go put my thinking cap on a see what I'm going to make her.

That recipe for bagels sounds lovely. I'm love my bagels, particularly the onion ones. :p

Have a lovely evening everyone and nite nite. ;)

  • Hello everyone, welcome to Mary (you've come to the right place!), and well done to everyone who's lost this week!:T ...ahem... including me - lost 2 pounds this morning! I'm so pleased, and it's given me the boost I need to carry on.

I tend to graze all day in work so can't really list what I had for breakfast and lunch as such, but today I've chomped my way through tuna and cucumber sandwiches (brown bread, no butter), banana, orange, strawberry yog, kitkat for the choccy fix and loads of grapes, only 49p for a huge tub in Aldi at the moment! Tonight was going to be pork chops, WW-style chips and veg with gravy. Now it's going to be beans and poached egg on toast because I forgot to take the chops out of the freezer this morning! Never mind, at least I know what's on the menu tomorrow night!

    Keep it up ladies!
  • Well done Chloebelle! I am not getting weighed until Saturday morning, as I hope by then I will have lost something - I should have weighed in today but decided to hold off as I get really put off if I haven't lost what I consider to be enough and my ankles are a bit puffy (TOTM) so I thought I'd wait.

I had two boiled eggs for lunch with crackerbread and a cup of coffee

Dinner was roast pork, dry roast potatoes and parsnips, carrot and swede mash, cauliflower, peas, an Aunt Bessie vegetarian stuffing ball (lower cal than the original ones) and sainsburys BGTY gravy, followed by a chopped up orange with a bit of skimmed evap on (it was really lovely) and now I am nicely full up so hopefully won't nibble during the evening.

Computer is playing up again so may not post again now for a couple of days as I am going to take it into the repair place again tomorrow - we keep getting loads of pop ups and it is running really slow.

Cheerfulness - what it the new Sophie Kinsella? I love her books. HAve you read any of the Little Lady Agency books? -they are just like the Sophie Kinsella ones and really funny.

Hope you are all having a good evening.
