Well done those of you who've managed to stay on track today, and to those who've had a bit of a blip (like me:o !!) we can always start again tomorrow!
Today has been a complete disaster foodwise. I could blame a very inconsiderate colleague for having a birthday and bringing in home made coffee and walnut sponge and a lemon cake AND french sticks and cheese for those who prefer savory...... however, she didn't chain me to my desk and force me to sample, um.. everything!
On the plus side, I haven't had any tea and not another morsel will be passing my lips this evening, haven't got any room left even if I wanted to!0 -
Evening everbody!
I've been rather lazy this week due to having a rotten cold and therefore no energy! I did manage to get some sorting out done at home tho. My bookshelf finally got sorted and the ones I don't want listed on amazon/green metropolis. And my portfolio is updated ready for someone to realise they want to give me a fantabulous new job! Haven't done too bad on the food either, few to many snacks but nothing drastic.
I have to share tonights sucess story. Finally got round to trying out the Cook Yourself Thin Beetroot Chocolate Fudge Cake (http://www.channel4.com/food/recipes/healthy/cook-yourself-thin/beetroot-chocolate-fudge-cake-recipe_p_1.html) and they were a big hit with everyone, even sis who was highly dubious about beetroot in cake :rotfl: Tweaked the recipe a bit and only made half the quantity and did it as fairy cakes rather than one big cake (half the listed quantity made 16ish fairy cakes). I used normal granulated white sugar as I didn't have any light muscavado, left the vanilla pod out (too expensive), left the salt out, replaced the groud almonds with extra cocoa as again didn't have them, my beetroot was the cooked vac packed type as sainsburys didn't have any raw, swapped the coffee for a shot of brandy (sister can't stand coffee stuff), and just used a glug of grapeseed oil instead of sunflower oil. I didn't bother with the topping as they didn't need it and it saves on cals :A Anyway, I recommend them to all the cake and chocolate lovers amongst us. And on the super plus side, they count towards your 5 a day cos of the beetroot!
ME - Happy Birthday! _party_
Alex W - I'm going to have to try that one out. Love blue cheese and theres always extra pears floating round out fruit bowl. Blue cheese and apple sandwiches are yummy too!
Frogga - Well done on getting past the wobble. Do I count as an oldie? I don't have a number but I did start posting on the original thread.
Pebbles - Glad its not just me that wants to slap Gillian McPoo. Evil little poison dwarf! (Yes, I know thats a double negetive!)
Off to fill out the application form for my dream job now. Watch how fast I dive for the biscuit barrell when I get the 'thanks for your application but we'll just keep it on file for now' letter
Ps. All my fellow hot chocolate lovers - Horrlicks light malt chocolate is very very yummy. I had a couple of free sachets of it in the post and think its gonna replace my usual hot chocolate now.I'm through accepting limits'Cuz someone says they're soSome things I cannot changeBut till I try, I'll never know!0 -
Evening all,
Pigpen...why would anyone in their senses want to run...just keep walking girl, its much healthier...I plan on starting again in March, might get up to 3000 steps per day by end of month!
Frogga....do not use that filthy word beginning with 'b'...you want to forget all about it and its affect on your poor green body!
Mrs MC...you really deserve a medal for the consistent hard work on your own behalf and the hard work you are putting in for the rest of us with recipes, advice and always being there when you are needed...take a bow or several.
Today I have eaten:
Pear, most of 2 clementines, half a kiwi ( DGD1 helped herself to the other half), ham salad sandwich on brown bread (not hm I'm afraid).
In the afternoon I finished the bits of fish (baked) left by DGS1, and about quarter of a hm pancake left by DGD1
Dinner was 2 steamed potatoes, lots of cabbage, some really nice bacon (boiled)
DD2 had chicken and veg with roasted veg and gave me v small portion to try....she used balsamic vinegar and lots of black pepper...really good.
Promised myself earlier that I would have a hot cross bun as a snack...might have some fruit instead as to-morrow is weigh in and would like to lose something to-morrow...2 lbs would be nice to take me below 14st.
We shall overcome some day

Last year me and a frien tried to do a detox. The effect of no gluten was amazing in regard to bowels. Once ate bread - 1 slice = back to same old problem.
Now this question is not about weight but 1 of you might just know the answer. The day i joined MSE i tried a few user names and they had all been taken - ran out of idead so in desperation put mhe which is initials of my 3 kids. But its just soooooo boring. I see lots of people with really nice names and mhe is just pants and dirtyminging pants at that!! Is it possible to change your username? I tried rejoining but it said someone was using that email address. HELP"With no money you start to discover your own inner resource" GK Chesterton2 adults, 3 children0 -

The point is I am not healthy I am about as unfit as it is possible to be.. I have no physical stamina whatsoever.. I can run about 30 yards.. I can walk for miles.. and quite quickly but make me jog/run.. it ain't gonna happen!
!
I cant run either! never have been able to, but brisk walking is just as good!;)
cheerfulness - that article sounds really interesting and like you I can see where they are coming from. trouble is I like my veggies! I have loads at work, all different but at home DH wont let us have more than 2! he just cant cope with too many different things on his plate!
Had a nice day at work and did a lot of walking - we went into ludlow and walked all around the outside of the castle. Lunch was a toastie in a cafe - brown bread but quite a bit of cheese! a lady at work was leaving so bought in a luxury chocolate cake - which we all just had to sample:D but i only had a tiny slice - would have been rude not too!;)
The Linda Macartney aubergine and courgette bake wasn't anything special. I had it with rice and a huge dollop of mango chutney to liven it up a bit.
Good luck tomorrow MRSM!Do what you love :happyhear0 -

Morning all
Just got off the scales..did anyone hear screaming???? I have lost 4lbs this week  followed by  .. so i have hit my 5st mark :j 5st 1.5lbs to be exact... and im now a 15st something person15st 12.5lbs
So im now able to set my Good Friday target at 15st 7 .... 5.5lbs to shift -which should be do-able
Me thinks reducing those extra slices of bread n cream cheese for my supper was a good idea....as thats the only real change, considering i have only had 2 walks this week and not 6 i'm pleasantly surprised -to say the least
Toniwotty... hope things improve at home soon - you know where we are when you can get back on here....we will keep a seat warm for you
Taplady .... I used to love linda mcartney sausage and ooohh her ploughmans pies  they used to be gorgeous...not healthy options mind...but very yummy
mhe - not sure how you do it - but changing your ID must be possible as quite often you see regular users posting under a different name when its about somethin sensitive... you could post on the technical board... they will probably know...
Meanmarie... hope your weigh in goes well..... i lovvvve hot cross buns...all doughy and sweet... not sure i would dare keep any in the house mind  ..
Alibow - i got a choc n beetroot cake from chatsworth farm shop at xmas -as i wanted to try it before i had a go at making one..and it was lovely... it was a loaf one... and without frosting.. i love things like that and carrot/passion cake -but hate frosting.... now carrot cake mmmmmmm
I thought the one on that site was quite high in cals... but with how much frosting is on there i'm sure it would be quite good on its own -mind what to do with the restif we had a family i guess it would get used pretty quick -but hubby wouldn't be interested in it..so that leaves ME
Hope you are feeling better soon..
Droopydrawers.. i don't know. fancy someone having a birthday..how inconsiderate :rotfl: .... you might not have been force fed..but it would have been very rude to say NO
woohoo frogga -hope all is well, and the "feeling" passed you by
well meals today wil go something like:-- brekkie -weetabix
- lunch leftover pasta salad
- dinner -hubby has requested cornedbeef salad... bleughhhhhhh so i will have prawns on mine, with steamed potatoes
- and snackies will be fruit n yoghurts
fingers crossed for those weighing in, keep up the good work everyone.. we are getting there
hellllo to anyone not mentioned-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
What an Inspiration you are MrsM :A If I remember correctly last week you lost 1lb. That would have been enough to make me give up , but look what happens when you don't ~ 4 lb this week! :j You truely are keeping me focused as I want to be on that sofa on GMTV with you
Well Done xxxx

In order MHE ... yes I do nails, I qualified in Manicure and for the product BioSculpture... it's a gel overlay, but you can sculpt nails with it as well. Also do the other things listed, though not set up with my room yet. I enjoy working at this better than my w**k in the 6th form college. Massage, nails, pedis etc etc doesn't seem like work to me somehow. More a relaxation.
Low GI muffins would be good! I had another good day as far as gluten is concerned... small amount of pasta in the evening and been fine.
I'm VERY ashamed of myself though. I found some chocolate lying around... really don' t know how that happened, I usually know if there is chocolate in the house. I ate it! Really fed up with myself. I have now run out of my high% choc, so need to get in supplies. So yesterday was a bad day in some respects.
It's funny, I feel thinner because of the lack of bloat, but scales of course not showing much difference. Haven't modified diet that much, just gone with the GL thing. Having said that, haven't had biccies or bread much. Meal sizes probably the same.
As I said before, I feel that if I can get the blood sugar sorted out, the low gluten sorted out, then when I want to really go for the weight loss (that will be never!LOL! then I should be able to manage a lot easier. Although my BMI is probably around the 30 mark, I don't really feel the need to lose tons, just the desire to fit into my clothes comfortably and look reasonable.... and that's in my eyes, I don't really care too much what everyone else thinks.
Sorry, that was a bit of a ramble and outpouring.
Food today will be
Breakfast : either porridge or eggs
Snack: Fruit
Lunch : hummus or eggs or turkey and salad
Snack: nuts
Dinner: HM burger minus bun, maybe beans with it or salad."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"
