  • oh and another! i'm just full of  today!!

if you have any small children to buy for i generally buy either a small colouring or sticker book - usually cheaper than an egg and they get so many from other people. often the kids appreciate something like this more as well as they just end up making themselves sick on chocolate!! :o

(book people has some reasonably priced 10pks of colouring/activity books at the moment altho have to factor in postage...)

    hope this helps :A

  • You're not alone Rockie.. I've had the munchies this morning. I ate my lunch early (11.15), too.
I know that come 4 I'll want my tea but then I'll be as happy as larry till bedtime, with maybe a couple of pieces of fruit mid eve. Not going to fight it if it means I don't overeat. ;)

Just read a really interesting article in my Prima mag (love tesco clubcard deals :D ) which was about the 'secrets of naturally slim women.'
Well some of it was not a secret at all :p .. not comfort eating, snacking on fruit, being active, not shopping when hungry, etc etc. (we all knew that!) but... it mentioned something I hadn't thought about personally.
It said that if we have too many different textures or flavours on our plate that it overstimulates the taste buds and we are less likely to stop eating when we're satisfied. If there is less choice we get 'bored' and stop sooner once we've eaten enough.
Now, while boredom would cause me to eat in the past and not stop me, I see where they're going with this and found it really interesting.
They also said we should never regard foods as 'good or bad' because if you consider you've failed because you've had one biscuit, you're likely to get fed up and gobble the rest of the packet. :p See, its official, we were right, nothing should be barred and everything is allowed.
Gonna give my mum this copy of Prima... I might even laminate that page for her.

  • Totally believe that everything in moderation is fine. One bad day does not a fatty make!! A lot of my friends are so calories conscious, of the, "I had a big lunch so will skip tea etc" school of thinking. I just cant do this! I was bought up on the 3 meals a day rule, were you had to finish everything on your plate. I think this is bad as well, I have figured it is defintely a) too many carbs and b) portions the size of my head that make me put weight on.
maybe when you know what makes you overeat it goes some way to controlling it? When I am in a bad mood i reach for comfort food- chips, bread etc, which is kinda obvious- just need to let my common sense take over now!

Going out for a meal with my handbell group.
I'm looking forward to it as it is my birthday, but haven't let on with them that it is. Daughter has made a sponge cake in the shape of a handbell so will take that along.
Although I'm losing weight very slowly I am pleased, because it shows that I can sustain this way of eating and not get into a yo-yo habit.
I'm too old for TOTM but that means the weight is much slower to come off. Also my M.E. limits my mobility so can't walk the blubber off.
I'm sure there are other "originals" who haven't posted in a while, perhaps they have stagnated.
If you are an original.... keep reading the thread- stagnation is better than binge-ing or yo-yo ing
  • :bdaycake: Happy Birthday ME your cake sounds lovely, hope you enjoy your evening.

Mrs M, my tortillas were horrid last night - just like hard floury wraps! Any ideas what I did wrong? I used 6oz flour, 7tbsp water, 1 tsp oil (canola) and 1 tsp salt... :) You're the best!

Today i've been a bit bad, but could have been worse:

B: 1 wholemeal toast w/ slice of ham, AND Special K! w/ semi skimmed
    S: apple
L: pub lunch - humous and roast veg baguette (not too big) and plain salad
S: australian crunchy chocolate sweet thing someone brought back from their holidays
D: chicken & veg stirfry, noodles

    xx

Hi there Bobbadog..great minds -i have just seen your other post :rotfl:

Your recipe doesn't sound like it has much liquid... mind, this is the recipe i use..and it uses milk -which will make them softer:D

    3/4 cup milk
    2 cups plain flour
    1tsp salt
    1.5tsp baking powder
    2tsp oil-i use olive
    • I whack the milk in my big jug and warm it up...
    • throw in everything else and mix with a spoon, and then get my hand in and knead for a couple of minutes..it might be sticky to start with, but the kneading should make it better
    • cover and leave to rest for 30 mins
    • break into 8..about 60g i think
    • cover and leave for 15 mins then roll out
    • drop into a hot dry frying pan, and when bubbles begin to appear, flip over -press down with a tea towel (watch you don't get steamed nuckles like i did the other day:eek: )
    • keep warm in a tea towel whilt you do the rest..
I have also done some with 1tbs poppy seeds in the mix mmmmm so next time its sesame ones :p
I have also frozen the balls of dough, and once defrosted they need a little more flour to roll out but they roll thinner -so bigger... but they are slightly different in texture -but we prefered them :D

    hope it helps

    ok we over lapped lol
