Oh Taplady - am I getting this right?... you nip in at the end and just have the cake and coffee? Ohhh didn't realise you could do that. OR have the WI started up cafes? Now that I'd really love. £1 for coffee and cake is an absolute bargain!
yes they do run a type of cafe!:T its a sort of drop in, I think its now called a 'country market' where you can buy there HM produce such as cakes(of course:D ) jams, knitted goods, plants etc and have coffee and a cake for a quid!
I dont go to the meetings! I'm just after their cakes!;)

Is it the time of the year or summat? cuz a lot of good folk on several of the 'self-help' threads are talking in the negative--me included:o But I like the "Don't give up giving up" philosophy.....must be my internal mantra......me muvva calls it being bloody-minded
The three offspring are in their 20s now, & none are seriously 'involved' so all living at home. Unfortunately they have inherited the tendancy to keep hold of body-weight; they all moan about it but they moan even more when I try to do summat healthy:o
A question.....if I were to batch-bake jacket tatties, could they then be frozen to be de-frosted & zapped at a later date? I'm now thinking would it be better to halve them before freezing & wrapping in greaseproof paper? Or would you be able to take them from the freezer, zap on defrost then zap again on high, if they fancied something after a late shift:rolleyes: ...As you can tell, I rarely cook from the freezer........Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Mumma - I bake a batch of tatties in the oven and then freeze them. I wrap them in foil and bung in freezer. Didn't have much success trying to zap them to defrost them though - ended up with cold middles. I just take out the freezer and put in the fridge the night before and then zap for about 2 mins on high for lunch time - obviously not in the foil anymore
Or if I forget then I take out the freezer in the morning and leave in the room to defrost for lunch time
Sometimes they go a little kind of watery but that depends on the spuds I think. The skins go soft too but I like them that way - still loads better than being zapped from scratchworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Sorry just needed to answer the question that I knew

Morning all -what a booootifull day it is out there :j
Back from the superkmarkets... walked all the way to Real for a couple of bags of salted peanuts for hubby (they are nicer and cheaper in there;) ) then back up to Aldi for my "proper stuff" ..so 1hr 25 mins and 7800 steps done :T ..and im feeling super duper happy and invigorated
Apart from hubbies peanuts... i got
2 kilo apples
2 kilo oranges
lettuce
cumber
tomatoes
red onions
red pepper
1 kilo carrots
some flour -for tortillas nom nom nom
8 cherry yoghurts -double nom nom nom :rotfl:
so thats should be us done for the week -oh apart from another kilo of carrots -hubby eats them- i have everything else in the fridge/freezer/cupboards.. and the fruit n yoghurts are all mine as hubby rarely touches fruit
..good job he eats plenty of veggies isn't it
and i spent the princely sum of €8.49 -about £6.30 :rotfl:
BigMummaF.. You can do that with jackets, but they won't be as nice as fresh.. I always found they went a bit starchy..... mind they work better if you scoop out the middles and bash them up and put them back in -especially with fried/microwaved onion and a bit of strong cheese

its strange you should mention that.. but i think im the same... im a carbohydrate junky ...all my brothers n sisters are the same and my mum........potatoes, bread, pasta mmmmmmm. But i have found that HM bread is much better for me... but this week i have been reasoning with myself as most evenings i have a couple of slices of HM bread with cream cheese on..now i have accepted this has become habbit and because it tastes bl**dy gorgeous, not because im hungry -so i have not done it this week ...and im not bloated, in fact i have had to pin the waistband of my skirt as it keeps slipping :T .. will see tomorrow if it has made much difference
Im not giving my bread up all together  ...but im going to try and keep it to 2-4 slices a week if i can ..

Hello gang.
aside what has happened last week I feel good actually.
I danced around to lazy town with my daughter and it felt great maybe this is my way of coping?
I still havent had a good chance to work out, but diving round to lazy town with my daughter is bound to help.

morning everyone.
Am pleased that I went for a little run last night, more walking than running but at least its something eh!!! Seen as I sit in an office on my a$$ all day!
I had chicken & veg & 1 piece of brown bread for tea last night, followed by fruit salad so a very virtuos day for me yesterday, apart from the crisps but hey ho.
Today:
B- Muller rice warmed up
L- Cheese salad- weighed the cheese this morningbut scales a bit dodgy so I think I've got 50g. Is this a vast amount- it certainly looks it in my little tupperware box!
T- turkey escalope, green beans, a couple of new pots.
Snacks- banana & tangerines.
My aim for today is no crisps!!
Have a good day everyoneCompulsive Spendaholic #150 -

HI again Mrs Mc.
I'm wondering and double wondering. I wondered if it's the yeast rather than the wheat. I think I shall have to monitor this. Next week might try taking some of my delish HM bread at lunch time. Might be better tolerated. I find I have to have oats for brekkie, either as porridge or granola. Getting some more wholewheat spaghetti I think.
Would be interested to see how you get on. I have a book called 'Is Gluten Making you Ill?' . I bought it quite a while ago out of interest, but maybe I need to take another read. My father has a lot of digestive upset, so wondering if it's something that he might look at.
Must go, nails client due. I love working at home:D"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

*sits in the naughty corner sucking her thumb*
Fed up today, I was a piggy last night and so far today I've had an egg toasty, a bag of crisps and eaten the cheese sarnie I brought for lunch
I got paid today and have just worked out that after bills, food, trainfares etc I'm left with about £150 for the month. I have OH's and GD birthdays next week, a leaving 'do' for a good friend tomorrow, Easter..........:wall:
Sorry, it's just one of those days when being permanently skint is getting to me so I am seeking solace in food. I can't even go to my belly dance class today as we have a 'do' at lunchtime.....more bl**dy food and drink :eek:0 -
