Well. I have now decided that we all eat too much in our house. So I have cut portion sizes-dramatically as I now only cook what we will actually eat for that meal and if I have made more, I squirrel it away before the family think there may be leftovers. It's a great compliment to my cooking when they want more, but ever expanding waistlines is not helpful. In order to make it easier for my DD we have all cut down-so hopefully we will all benefit. No one complains they are hungry and similarly no one complains they can't move after they have eaten-before I made the portions smaller we all used to be stuffed. I need to lose weight. I put some weight on when I stopped smoking. (I stopped at beginning of december 07 and seem to at more-I used to have a cig instead of food, but now I have food) I tried on 3 of my pairs of jeans the other day and could not get into any of them-I was not a happy bunny!!!
Anyway enough of my ranting and mad ramblings!!!
Well done everyone. This thread is an inspiration.

Good idea tattycath, dh has been moaning he's getting a tad lardy, all this home cooking since I got back to OS in Jan. Last night I counted out the wedges and did about 8 each, smaller ones counted 2 for 1. The others were having roll with their burger, so didn't need it. We just eat them cos they're there and so yummy. Going to start cranking up the healthy bit of the meal and reducing the rest...having said that, they're having lentil & chick pea dhal pasties tonight.... NO other carbs on the main course, just a lovely salad, will have it all laid out an appetising !

    Hello again

Tattycath.... SO glad your daughter is losing weight :T bet she feels really good -and so she should ...and you too for helping her so much.. its bad enough having to lose weight when you are an adult and have some control over what you buy..being a littly and having friends eating loads of junk etc must make it so much harded...

My hubby is losing weight.... he is down to the last hole on his belt -and this is a belt we had to buy about 3 months ago to replace the last one when that got too big :T .. he also needs to exchange his uniform as its too big..silly devil should have checked before sewing his badges on :rotfl: it takes him ages as they have to be precise :rotfl: he would lose even more if he gave up beer -but can't see that happening  ..as it is he eats the meals i stick in front of him..he does love salads though which helps..in fact we will live on them now until about october :j ...
Im still baking but just being a bit more mindfull of what i make and how much..
Its amazing how quickly you can adjust to eating less...
Mind hubby played golf sat and tues... is playing hockey matches today and tomorow, friday he is playing cricket and sat he is golfing again -so really he should be the size of a pipecleaner :rotfl: not bad for a 43 year old :p

Have set more salad leaves and pak choi..this time in modules so they become a proper head... back off out again folks..talk to you soon

Mrsm are you trying to insinuate that 43 is old? Honey he's a mere babe;)

I'm plodding along merrilly hoping to pop my cherry on the Marvellous May weight loss:o
    B- Yoghurt and banana
L- Ham roll fruit and quavers
D- Ham roll and blue riband wafer
    Snacks fruit

Appalling diet due to eating on the hoof today and trying to be prepared and not buy food so just making more rolls .
Today after work I need to go the diving school where I have enrolled to do my scuba diving course in three weeks:eek: _pale_ What was I thinking:confused: anyway I've paid my dosh and will grease myself to slip into the wet suit:think: now I just have to pick up the literature tonight so I can study:shocked: Frogga you are so lucky to be a natural :p
From there I have to go to school to see my youngest daughter's performing arts production so no time to eat a meal and I know I can not wait until after as I'll fill myself up with rubbish (not my fault just the way it is:confused: )

    Have a good one ....

    Afternoon all,

Another lovely day, still windy but pleasant.
Was good last night and only had an apple for supper...hasn't made any difference to metabolism...think that mine is sluggish at best so should have more water and fruit...not sure about my thyroid either so probably should avoid the things mentioned in your magazine article Mrs MC.

Thanks for putting me on list Toni...not sure that there will be anything to report as I have stayed the same since last September and will be away for 6 weeks from 22nd, but just leave me there if you don't mind, July will be my month...all my veg should be ready to go when I come home...if DD4 has remembered to water! No pods on my peas yet MrsMC, just flowers on some of my tomatoes, need to organise them better this week sometime, so that they will produce some nice cherry toms asap.

    To-day I have eaten:
    1 Weetabix with about 2 tablespoons mixed dried fruit and some pine nuts and pumpkin seeds, dribble milk, coffee;
    Lunch will be some salad, bean salad and cheese, apple and water;
Dinner...chicken breast, peas, baked potato, water
Snacks...tin pears which I really fancy at the moment

    Have a good day all

    hello everyone,

Hope your all doing well, and enjoying this lovely sunshine.

Anyone from Manchester? If so, whats it like with all those Rangers fans down there?

have been good since yesterday morning. Went to gym, and booked my first personal trainer thing for next wednesday. I got an update whilst I was at the gym, so, the girl who is going to do my personal training has given me a program of the machines ive to use etc. Looking foward to starting it. Might go tonight when Dh is watching the football.

Anyway, yesterdays meals went to plan. last night was feeling a bit peckish, so I had to oatcakes with 1 laughing cow cheese triangle.

    Today will be/has been:-

Breakfast: fruit N fibre cereal s/s milk & a coffee

Lunch: Chicken sandwich (brown bread), a mullerlight yogurt and a coffee

Dinner: Not sure, either tuna salad or with baked potato, or an omlette with salad. Will wait to see how I feel.

When I was at the gym yesterday, I told the girl how bad I am with chocolate. She said to have a bit if I feel I really needed a bit (does anybody ever feel they dont need a bit of chocolate lol), but just to have a small bit. She said if I could try to have a bit of chocolate maybe once every 3 days or so that would be better, so, Im going to try that to see how I go.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Tattycath - I have reduced meal portions as well, we can eat the leftovers the next day or freeze them for later so hope to save some pennies also. One of my problems has been making enough for 4 of us and now the kids have left home I still seem to make the same amount!:o

Can anyone help me with my afternoon choc craving? always between 2 - 3 pm I need chocolate!:D

    Hi All,

Our heatwave seems to have vanished. There was quite a cool breeze this morning when we walked up to the bakers. Our lunch out has turned into an early evening meal out instead so we have just had a lightish lunch. I prefer going out for lunch as if we have a big meal I can then manage for the rest of the day on just fruit or yoghurt.

I had a really good sort out of my wardrobe yesterday and got rid of a dozen items of mine plus a couple of OH's. I took them round to the clothing bank on my way to the shops. I am trying to implement a policy of every time I buy a new item of clothing I get rid of at least one and preferably two in return. I am now in credit for when I go clothes shopping - which will be as soon as I have dropped to a size 12 from my present 14. I have a pair of size 14 jeans (Next Petites) on today which keep slipping down so hopefully it won't be too long now.

No long walk planned for today but OH and I have had a short walk to the Post Office, Newsagents and Bakers so I will have done around 4,000 steps I should think. He has suggested I phone my friend to see if she fancies an afternoon walk before we go out this evening but I haven't decided whether to or not yet.

B: Fruit and fibre mixed with muesli with raisins and skimmed milk - usual breakfast but I had a smaller portion than normal and no fruit juice today.
L: Half a small white roll with smoked salmon and red pepper pate. Cherry tomatoes, cucumber, beetroot. Spoonful of Greek yoghurt topped with tinned raspberries in apple and blackcurrant juice.
D: No idea as yet - depends what is on the pub menu.

Hope you all have a great day.

    HiYa!

Someone was talking about coleslaw, & as we don't do mayo in this house, I've been making our own version for a fair few years now. As others have said, really you can put in any raw veg that tickles yer taste-buds:p

I used one of those mandoline slicing thingies yesterday----& have also used a food processor---to shred:-
    • half each of red & white cabbage
    • several large carrots
    • 4 celery stalks
    • smallish red & green peppers
& weeny bits of cauli, that made one ma-hoosive bowl of salad.

I found some whoopsied sandwich steaks in the freezer & immediately thought "STIR FRY"! I've a little spray bottle thingy for olive oil so spritzed the pan & shredded the meat; two of the offspring had that on top of "salad", the other & Pup had full stir-fry & Iggie a salad-fest with plenty left for today:D

I had spent most of the day picking at the various stray bits & felt really full, till about 9:30 when I had a bowl of cornflakes with luvverly cold milk!

I'm not sure that I fit on the list either Toni, as I don't weigh:o but my Marvellous In May challenge is to Lose A Skirt Size I did the BH Challenge to fit into smaller nicky-nacky-noo-noos, so I'm sorta half way to goal....IYSWIM:think: If it's easier to leave me out, that's fine....I may post in green but I don't sulk:rotfl:

I have next week off work and am planning to:-

Walk lots - planning to make sure OH takes the car so I don't have much choice ;)
Sort out wardrobe contents and clothes etc to ebay.
Eat healthily - prepare lots of lovely meals while OH is at work (coz usually we just have something quick when we get home from work most weekdays) :o

And enjoy the one day off in the week OH has booked off work for our anniversary.

Anyone got ideas how best to cook whole (headless/gutted) mackerel? Had them at the weekend wrapped in foil and cooked on a BBQ - but if I did this in the oven - how long would they need to cook?

What about tuna steaks? Bored of just grilling them with pepper - any other ideas?

And I have some reduced Seabass from MrT - but not got the faintest idea how to cook, how long to cook or what to do with them!!!

MrsM - help? And anyone else too ;)

Can you tell OH's fave meals are fish ;)
