Hi everyone. I've been subscribed to this thread for a while and have lurked... My little girl was told by the drs she should lose some weight to help alleviate her high blood pressure. Many thanks to MRSMCAWBER for your assistance and recipes and many thanks to the posters on here who are an inspiration-my little girl has managed to lose half a stone, so we're finally getting somewhere.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Knackers - just did a post and it went !!!!!! into the ether
Anyhoo - afternoon all :hello:
Just managed to catch up on you all - seems like we have all been enjoying the sun and that we are going to publish a book and we need a roll call of losses - sounds good to me!:D
My weekend has been busy and included a trip to the theatre, sitting in and working in the garden, a FAB lolly, PIMMS, and generally some nice food, which is fine, weekend now gone and moving on now!
I must say that yesterday I had the yummiest brekkie - fresh crusty toast with butter (yes the real thing) and Harvey Nicks Fig Jam nomnomnom - it was scrummy. And I ate it in the sun in my liddle garden
Hope you are all having a good day - stick with it - we can do it.
Off to see Jim Davidson tonight so will catch up tomorrow.

Hello everyone - another sunny day here again so yet more washing on line!
Queenpig - hope you sort out your row with OH soon - I wish rows made me not eat - I'd be like Kate Moss if they did with the rows in this house! Mind you, when ex OH left I didn't eat anything, not even tea or coffee to drink, for 5 days - the thought of anything at all made me retch, but after that I started comfort eating and that was that!
Rockie - what is the gel you got for the slugs? My foxgloves have been totally eaten away by slugs, as have all my attempts at veg and fruit growing. The pellets just seem to leave mountains of dead slugs everywhere, but it doesn't seem to diminish the numbers!
Mrs M - I love Quark - when I lived in Germany the Mum (I was a nanny for a bit) used to mix it with mashed banana and a bit of sugar and it was just wonderful! She also used to mix it with beaten eggs, sultanas, sugar and lemon juice and rind and bake it (Quarkkuchen) and that was just fab!
Well, today I have fallen off the wagon in spectacular style! It all started with the usual row with DD1 this morning. Upshot was that she didn't go to college until 11.45 and then swore and ranted at me the whole 18 miles in the car so by the time she got out I was exhausted! The college is next to a drive in McDonalds so guess where I went? I ended up eating 3 chicken nuggets, half a Big Mac, a strawberry milkshake, two bites of a Big Tasty and about three spoonfuls of a McFlurry. It cost a whopping £9 odd and now I feel bloated and even more miserable! I also felt terrible throwing so much of it away but it would have been worse to have eaten it all but better not to have bought anything at all:o I think I will try to just have fruit and a yoghurt for the rest of the day.
Do any of you get swollen ankles and legs in this weather? I do and it is driving me nuts! I tried drinking more water but that just made me wee all the time and no change to the ankles. Any suggestions?
Tattycath - that is wonderful news about your daughter! DD2 needs to lose about a stone and I know how hard it is to get kids to eat more healthily so she deserves many:T :T :T
Hope you are all having a good day and not falling off the wagon like me!Jane

Hi All,
Hope you feel better soon Jane and Queenpig after your fall outs with your (supposedly) nearest and dearest. Well done for throwing away the rest of the McDonalds , Jane- at least you didn't eat all of it. Even though you succumbed to buying it in the first place, at least you can count it as a positive that you didn't finish it.
OH is working this afternoon and won't be home till around midnight and I'm already missing him. I've been for a walk to the shops and am trying to decide what to do next. The choices are a bike ride to the next village to look round the newly refurbished chemists which is now a Boots, to lie in the sun with a book or to do some sorting out. I was up at 6am this morning to write my weekly article and although I went back at 7.30am for a while I am still tired so the lie in the sun sounds tempting. I am going for a long walk with my friend and her dog this evening when it's cooler so don't really need the exercise although I would probably enjoy the bike ride once I got going.
We had a good evening yesterday. DS and DIL to be came round for a meal and we then went to the cinema in the evening. It's only a 10-15 minute walk away and we can go through the woods to get there so it was a very pleasant journey both ways. We saw Iron Man which was quite amusing and I was very good and only had a small tub of icecream rather than the white chocolate Magnum I usually treat myself to at the pictures. I even had smaller portions at our mealtime to make sure I was allowed it.
My lunch today looked lovely. I had a side salad of cucumber, beetroot and cherry tomatoes all arranged prettily on a white plate with a small piece of spinach and Mozarella pizza, followed by strawberries. I almost wanted to take a photo as it looked so colourful.
B: Banana at 6.30. Followed a couple of hours later by muesli with skimmed milk and raisins and a glass of fruit juice.
L: Spinach and Mozarella pizza with cucumber, tomatoes and beetroot. Strawberries.Left over rice with prawns, mushrooms and peppers. Raspberry yoghurt.
Snack: Orange.
Hope you all have a good afternoon.

I know what he is like Frogga but don't hold it against me that I am going, I am so not like that.
He is someone on DH list of people to see and when the chance for tickets came up I got them to treat him. We don't go out often so will be nice to spend some time together. If he is really that bad I won't be staying!Joined WW again!! in November 2010 - four stone loss so far :T

Frogga - your menu sounds scrummy:D really healthy too(you could add a few slugs......oh! sorry you're a vegan frog:D )
[/quote]
Yes I am a vegan Frog and I'm not alone nowadays you know :j
The Frog Vegan Movement really took off in the 60's. Alot of people thought that it was just Weirdo's and Hippies that didn't eat slugs and insects but not any more.
Quite a few famous Frogs have promoted the cause and it's far more acceptable now. I guess some people will never accept it and just think it's a fad
My Gran was always saying how ridiculeous it was ~ "A Frog not eating slugs? that's what God made them for" et.c et.c  It was a blesed relief when the cat from next door got her I can tell you.
It can cause difficuties when you go to another pond but as long as you let your hosts know in advance most are accomadating.
I just wish others would realise that you don't need to eat slugs and insects to have a healthy diet and you wont fade away without them, I mean just look at me
