    Evening all,

    Been warm here to-day and had to water the garden as things were looking a bit wilted.

    Suzid...will try Debenhams for measuring, thanks for tip...won't be anything in the 30s though I'm afraid!

    Today I have eaten:

    BLT, extra rasher and coffee;

    2 slices bread and butter;

    Lasagne.

    We have apples, oranges, bananas and plums in fruit bowl, don't fancy any of them, think I will see what I have in line of some tinned fruit for supper.

    See you all tomorrow

    This means my insulin levels will not spike and my body will be obliged to release the fatty acids from the fat cells and burn those a fuel.

    Ted's absolutely right, although it does sound a bit like a science lesson! If you're losing weight on what you're doing now then great. If not, then Ted's approach may help. It's what I've been doing for several months and it is slowly working - combined with chewing, walking and smaller portion sizes.

    This isn't just about glycaemic load - which is almost the same thing as counting calories. It's about glycaemic index: eating foods that don't drive your blood sugar high too quicky - because then it bounces back into a sugar crash an hour or so later and you have to snack.

    The advantage of Ted's method is that you don't get so peckish between meals. I rarely snack between meals these days - other than a cup of tea or coffee without sugar. I just don't feel the need. Never thought I'd say that!:D

    Morning all:D

    Well hubby has gone for the day..on duty-so won't be back until the morning..but then he has the day off - so depending on how hot it looks i may or may not have a tootle round the golf course with him;)

    food today..
    1. brekkie -going to make a juice in a moment.. kiwi, peach, melon and pineapple nomnomnom... then im having some water melon
    2. lunch -have some quinoa and bean salad and krautsalat to use up and some fruit
    3. dinner - ham pasta salad -leftover from yesterday..and a couple of pieces of fruit
    4. snackies - fruit or yogurts
    I know it has only been 3 days but im feeling so much better.. not heavy n stodged :T lovely and full of energy..hubby has commented that i don't seem able to sit still - just flitting around doing bits n bobs all the time :D ..but wil have to see what the scales have to say on friday :p

    Hubby has put his uniform on this morning and it suddenly looks like a sack bag :rotfl: so he has to get his spare one swapped for the next size down -and he had to move his belt.. 2" smaller :T ..... he is doing quite a bit of exercise ..but i keep making subtle changes to our meals :whistle:
    Like today he was going to take 4 ham salad and 4 cheese salad sandwiches on hm bread as he has 2 meals to cover... but instead i have packed him up a lovely home cooked gammon salad and a feta and lancashire salad and 6 slices of hm bread n butter... not only will it take longer to eat but he has 2 slices of bread n butter less and more salad n protein ;) and he had to confess that he would rather have the salad anyway..he was just saying what he thought was easiest for me :confused:

    Well the other day hubby declared that he would rather have quark in his jacket than cottage cheese -even though thats one of our faves :eek: .... well not only is quark much cheaper (67c for 500g instead of 47c for 200g)but its 75 cal + 0.5g fat per 100g the cottage is 105cal + 4.5g fat per 100g plus we will use less quark as its rich :j . So yesterday as a trial i made the pasta salad using a tiny amount of mayo and replacing the greek yogurt with quark and we loved it ..so thats more money, cals and fat saved :T plus less pots in the fridge :p

    oooohhhh before i forget..... i have flowers on my beans :j eeeeee i was like a kid a xmas when i saw them this morning :rotfl: off out there later to do some more planting ;)

    Got to slice the rest of my seedy bread up and freeze it so its nice for later in the month.. and the allbran cake is going to get the same treatment tomorrow...if i can find room in the freezer :rolleyes:

    Have got 2 loads of washing out drying..another 1/2 hr and it should be ready to come in...mind i have blitzed through the house and gathered anything that was in my way..so i have 2 more loads on the go ...

    think today is going to be quite a relaxed day..no food to sort ..no cleaning to do..so the garden it is :D

    good luck to anyone weighing in.... have a great day everyone..will get off for my brekkie now -have waffled enough :o

    Morning MrsM ~ I've got flowers on my beans too, is that good then :confused: What does it mean? Also, there are little holes in all the leaves. Think it's slugs, what can I do about them? Be specific mate you know how thick I am ;)

    Morning frogga

    OOOOOHHHH flowers on beans are GOOD... your beans will grow at the back of the flowers :j do you have one of those squirty bottles? if so, as the flowers appear mist them with water..it helps the flowers "set"..
    If it is slugs making the holes you will know as they take great ruddy chunks out :mad: ..you could always get the tadpoles out early evening and early morning "slug" gathering ;) as long as the slugies are leaving the stem alone its no great problem..i have a few holes in my leaves but i think mine were from putting them out a little early :rolleyes:

    Morning all :hello: ,

    MRSM & Frogga those b*!*dy slime balls have munched their way through my marigolds (flowers not gloves!) and taken chunks out of my sprouts lower leaves :mad: :mad: . This will be all out war soon. Monty Don is trying out some bio control on his plot as he's found the better the soil is the more slugs he's got :eek: . Watching avidly for updates! Congrats on the bean flowers, well impressed as todate I haven't got any beans. Given up on first sowing so all hope now pinned on second lot, fingers crossed.

    DH got out the laurel for me yesterday and did all the manure carrying for me but the day was cut short again by heavenly flashes & rumbles and great downpours. At least I didn't need to do any watering and the pond has filled up nicely :D . Apart from sowing the wild flowers and wrestling with ivy (where does it all keep coming from) I didn't get nearly as much done as I'd hoped so today I must sort out the fruit bed and give it a good top dressing and manure mulch MMMMMMMMMM. Also noticed yesterday that the plum tree has been attacted by aphids, but...... you should have seen the ladybirds, all different types, red with black spots, black with red spots and orange with black spots. Several of them giving each other 'special hugs' so go get 'um chaps :T .

    Must drag myself off to hang out first load of washing. The sky is blue at present and the forcast good so I also plan to wash everything not put away or being worn! Have a great day all.
    Suz
