How do you make patatas bravas? The children were talking about them, but I don't know what they are.

edititng... it's OK, I've found it on BBC GOOD FOOD

Ours were slightly different to the 2 recipes on BBC Good food as the spuds werent fried, just cooked in the spicy sauce which had hot and smoked paprika in it and no meat. I think the base was tomatoes, onions and garlic whizzed up after sweating off in a little olive oil.

I have also made it myself before (friend made it yesterday) where I make the sauce in the same way but oven roast whole new potatoes with herbs and a little oil first before throwing them in the sauce.
  • Hello everyone welcome Kayjay - it's quiet on here today - everyone must be out enjoying the sunshine! It is REALLY warm here today, which I'm not overly keen on as it just reminds me that here we are again, Summer and I'm not slim! Every year I say "next summer I will be slim" and guess what? here I am again large as ever! Anyway this is the first summer I have had this support thread and it does help me alot so thank you to everyone on here as I really think I would be even bigger if it weren't for you lot, and I do feel more optimistic about my weight than I have for a long time!

Today I had a frantic housework session this morning and got very hot! Am now just in the middle of ironing and I have sooooo much of the stuff!

    Food today has been good:

Breakfast - one slice of wholemeal bread with a little spread
Lunch - half a tin of salmon with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, spring onions, a sliced hard boiled egg and a few jersey royals - it was very nomnomnom!
afters was one BGTY ginger nut with a cup of tea
Dinner - have cooked two chickens so will probably have some of that with salad - might do a spicy crispy rice salad thing - don't know yet.

DD1 didn't come home last night so ex OH is out looking for her and is majorly stressed, threatening all kinds.... She does drive you to distraction though as she won't answer her phone, but him going round and smashing the door in of the bf's student house is only going to get him arrested, but he is saying he doesn't care - but if he does that he will lose his job and that will have consequences for all of us because then he won't be able to pay child support any more - grrrr she is so thoughtless.

DD2 has just gone on her first bike ride with her friends. She is doing cycling profeciency at school and today they all wanted to go out on their own on their bikes so reluctantly I said they could go the half mile or so to the beach, but I am going to drive down there in a minute to see that all is well. She's only 10 but at that age I went for miles on my bike but it was so different then.......

Well, back to the ironing before I go looking to see how DD2 is getting on (I hope she doesn't see me!)

    Afternoon Peeps,

I'M REALLY POOPED. Been in the garden ALL day and I'm totally shatered. ALso changed all the sheets and hoovered round every room. I love doing bits in the garden , but it's amazing how quickly the house gets untidy if I let it slip

The garden is looking really lovely. I'll wait a few weeks till all the lupins are out and then I'll post some piccies :D

My eating at the mo is like a milertary opperation. I am eating at 8am, 10.30am, 12.30pm, 3pm, 5pm and then 7pm. I have based my whole day around when I need to eat. I know it's anal, but if I allow myself to get peckish the toad comes back ;)

I've put the dinner on and had a shower and I'm now in my jimmy jams :D so gonna sit in the garden , catch some rays and relax :D

Have a good rest of Sunday , post later xxxxxxxxxxx

    Hi All,

Another scorching day here and I've had to sit in the shade most of the morning. I did get out for my standard quick walk (around 4,000 steps) but had to go a bit slower as it was too hot to rush. I called in the local Co-Op on the way back and filled 2 carrier bags with bargains from the reduced trolley for under £10. I did the ironing earlier whilst I listened to the Archer's Omnibus and then have been sat out on the patio with a book.

One of my friends dropped round a while ago and stayed for a bite of lunch. She loved the hair and the new outfit and said I looked years younger, which was nice to hear.

I am hoping to persuade OH out for a walk this evening when it cools down as we didn't get round to it. Other than that I shall return to the patio with my book for the rest of the afternoon. DS and DIL to be will be round later for a meal but it's not a roast this week as it is too hot too spend much time in the kitchen.

B: Fruit and fibre with skimmed milk and raisins. Cranberry and raspberry juice.
L: Slice wholemeal toast with smoked salmon pate with peppers. Side salad of cucumber and cherry tomatoes. Banana
D: Cheese and bacon pie, peas, carrots, mushrooms. Fruits of the Forest yoghurt.
    Snack: Orange.

    Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

    Hello.

Long time to type!! Been hiding sorry guys, but back again and I will loose this weight.
I have probably stayed the same weight or likely put more on (i dare not weigh my self) last time i check i was 9st 9-10, which actually makes my only 6lbs (or there abouts) away from my actually healthly BMI weight range.
My friend likes popping over most days and this stops me so working out, when she does pop over I'll just have to tell her if you want to come down I want to go for my run in the afternoon. I wonder if I can get her join me? would do her good? I'd love a bike she has one and theres no reason why we couldnt go cycling?.......Anyway>>>>>>

Will start my deit again tomorrow, want to try and loose a target of 5lbs for the kiddies school holiday.

So if you'll all have me back?

    Hello folks:hello:

Friday night was a bit of a disaster, I went out to join OH in the pub and had far to much to drink so was 'fragile' yesterday_pale_
Sunnyday - would you like your neighbours back?????

I had an egg on toast and a bag of crisps throught the day then we went for a meal last night - well we did spend the morning at the lotty even though we were hungover:o I had cauliflower cheese pasty with a huge salad (the only veggie thing on the menu  ) I left a lot of the pastry but the salad was delicious as was the pannacotta with blueberies that I had for pud OOPS!

Today I've had egg and mushrooms on toast and cottage cheese and pineapple with salad. Tea will be something with salad, I might make an SW quiche if I can face putting the oven on, it's soooooooo HOT:whistle: here! Strawberries with vanilla yoghurt for pud:D

I got loads of bedding plants at the lotty this morning - they were so cheap :money: so I've planted my baskets and window box up for the front of the house, I'll not put them out yet until they establish themselves though. I've had them pinched/vandalised a few times over the years - neighbours from hell:mad:

Off to have a nice cuppa now, see you later folks :A

Well done the losers :j :j

The Handbell concert at Woodbridge yesterday was fabulous, even if I say so myself.
We retired to the pub for a meal and a chinwag. (Duck and vegetables). No pudding!
I had four pints and drove home.

(Four pints of WATER:rolleyes:). It's amazing how dehydrated you can get.
Today I'm exhausted so hubby has set up the hammock in the garden, so I'll soon be in it.
We had garden pasta for lunch. Dandelion leaves, ground-elder, spinach, cowslip flowers, blackberry leaves put into the wok with sweet pepper strips and sprinkled with cheese.

Afternoon all! Hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine if you have it:D

I tried to go for a run this morning but everything was against me. First I got up too late so it was already starting to get very hot. I was planning on an hour for my run so was a bit dubious (I don't run well in the heat!). I set off at my plodding pace (can't really call it running;)) and it was going ok for the first 30 mins, then it just started to get hotter and hotter and my earphones kept falling out because I was so sweaty. This interrupted my pace and then - you won't believe it - I got pulled over by the police!! No, not for speeding:rotfl:For running on the road which I'm pretty sure is not illegal and I was on a 30 MPH road in high vis gear. They very patronisingly told me I could get run over and I didn't have the time or the energy to explain that with the state of the footpaths and the inevitable pedestrians/dogs/children on bikes, sometimes the road is the lesser of 2 evils, plus it is better for your joints and I was running into on coming traffic as runners are advised to do. Anyway I must admit I was rather rude and asked them if they didn't have anything better to do before sticking me earphones back on while they were still lecturing me and running on the path until they'd gone:o So then my flow was really ruined and about 10 mins later I gave up because I was irritated, too hot and I needed the loo. Oh well

Food today was French toast for breakfast (a usual Sunday treat) this was about 11.15 though so I wasn't hungry at lunch time. I had a solero later and have just eaten a banana. Feel hungry now but don't want to spoil my dinner so I'll fill up then (going to BF's parents for Sunday dinner - personally I'd rather have a salad but I'm not turning down a free feed!)

I had a sneaky hop on the scales this morning because I have been so good and was disappointed they had only gone down 1/2 lb. I've tried so hard but my official WI is Wednesday so I'll just have to carry on being good! I must admit I feel a lot slimmer this week:p Maybe all my running as put some 'three times heavier' muscle on my legs;) I put a T-shirt on yesterday that my BF bought me a couple of months ago but it was too tight and showed off my muffin top. Well this seems to have gone now and I felt very nice in my T-shirt yesterday so all in all a good weekend!:D I think I'll get up early for my runs next week so I can run in cooler temperatures...

    Gosh I've woffled on haven't I - I'll shut up now!;)
