Hi all, haven't posted for a while as work has been hectic, I darent weigh myself as I know I haven't lost so I will just plug away until I feel better.

Yesterday was tough as I was in meetings all day so at the mercy of the caterers!

B: Bran flakes and skimmed milk
L: 4 wholemeal quarter sandwiches, 2 egg, 2 cheese (really wish I liked ham as they would be a much better option) and a piece of skewered chicken breast
D: A tablespoonful of lamb tagine with a tablespoonful of rice with a bit of salad (ate it to be polite sitting with colleagues) then went home and had king prawn singapore chow mein (made by OH with very little oil and soy) and a huge side salad of leaves, grated carrot, vine tomato, black olives, red onion and a little avocado with balsamic vinegar.

Today will be much easier as I am back to normal in work so I can please myself.

B: Porridge made with half skimmed milk half water and chopped apple
L: HM vegetable broth with pearl barley
D: I think sausage casserole was on the meal planner so that will be with sweet potato mash, savoy cabbage, carrots, broccoli and maybe peas. Although OH may change his mind and do something else.

Snacks will be apples and plums

    Have a great day all

    Hi Everyone,

Not been on for ages. Ive fell off the wagon again:mad: . How many times have I been here?????? very very cross with myself.

Anyway, Im trying to not let it get me down because its my own fault. This time the only excuse I have is lazyness, and by being lazy not only is is adding pounds onto my weight, its adding pounds onto my grocery challenge too. Im so disorganised.

    Today however, im not disorganised.

Working today, and have to take DS to his swimming lesson at 4, then other DS has football training, so ive already taken dinner out of the freezer. Kids are having HM spagetti bolognaise, so I only have to make the pasta, and Dh and I are having HM vegetable chilli, so the only thing I need to make is rice for DH and heat up a pitta bread for me, and make a salad.

    So far ive had:-

Breakfast: Bran flakes with S/S milk and a coffee

Snack: coffee and a Time out:o (I wish I hated chocolate)

Lunch: Mullerlight yogurt, and a banana.

I seriously need to get into this (how many times have I said that). Im beginning to look like and egg with legs!!!!!

Anyway, I best be off to do some work.

    Jackie xx

    Hi all.
Purpleivy - please can you point me in the direction of the roast red pepper hummous recipe? Pretty please? :D have a jar of peppers in the fridge and a tin a chickpeas gathering dust in the cupboard :o

    Hi

Here is Dee's recipe. I actually cook big lots of chickpeas in advance, I weigh into 250g portions and freeze. You can defrost by just running boiling water over them. I've really messed around with this recipe. I keep a jar of Lidl roasted pepper in brine in the fridge and the chickpeas ready cooked, so I can make it up really quickly. I like it slightly warm, it's nowhere near as nice bolt-cold straight from the fridge.

I had some M&S morrocan style hummus at Easter when I was away, it had onions, cumin and coriander in it. I thought that onion would dilute the calorie count!

Seems quite an economical recipe as well. Only prob is that it is easy to be very greedy with it. I've left Dee's carrot recipe on as well, as that looks good for cautious eating.

    Roasted Red Pepper Hummus
1 red pepper seeded and quartered
    3 tbspn virgin olive oil
235g tin chickpeas drained and rinsed
    2 cloves garlic halved
    1 heaped tspn tahini
    juice of 1/2 lemon
    salt & pepper

Roast peppers in 1 tbspn oil on 200c,400f,GM6 for 25-30 mins turning once.Remove pepper from oven and peel off skin.
Blitz in food processor or blender with chickpeas,garlic,tahini,l.juice,2 tblspns water and rest of oil.

    Smashed Bean and Carrot Spread
    1 carrot sliced
    2 tbspn virgin olive oil
    2 cloves garlic crushed
    1 tsp ground cumin
    1/4 tsp ground coriander
    2 pinches chilli powder
200g tin butter beans drained and rinsed
    juice of 1 lemon
    salt and pepper

steam carrot til tender.Meanwhile heat oil in saucepan and fry garlic and spices for 1 minute.Add the beans, lemon juice and 2-3 tbspns water.Heat gently stirring.
Remove from heat and blend carrots and bean mixture til smooth.Add a little water if needed and season to taste :)

  • Hello everyone. Feeling a bit more like it today and have just about got over the binge yesterday.

    Happy Birthday Toniwoty!!

Well done on the loss Superspan!

((Rockie)) - hope everything goes okay with OH - it certainly puts my problems with a churlish teenager into perspective and makes me feel ashamed that I let my stress yesterday lead to a binge and you are forging on and being so positive in the face of such a big issue AND you are still exercising and eating well. That is awe inspiring.

Well today I have had a brunch at 11.30 - lettuce, tomato, spring onions, pickled onions, ham and a little bit of coleslaw and a seedy roll (but I scooped out the soft bread in the middle and chucked it), followed by a pear.

Last night I made a sausage cassoulet with Tesco H/L sausages, a tin of cannelini beans, tin of tomatoes, onions, carrots and herbs and spices. Don't know what it will be like but there is loads of it. Will portion out into 4 and freeze the other three portions as kids won't eat it. Will have it with some brocolli and a baked sweet potato.

Just wanted to add that I think hummous is yukky! It is the garlic - I have garlic!

I do a similar thing, recipe nicked from mum ;) - but using chopped smoke pork sausage - reduced fat one of course, onion, herbs, 3 tins of whatever beans you fancy, and a tin of tomatoes - or passata. It's yum! Specially with garlic bread - :p

    Afternoon all,

Weight in today and......................I've lost.................wait for it..............:j 5lbs this month :j , that puts me in a new stone zone, yippie :T :T . Boy its lovely to see my knee caps, haven't seen them in years :rotfl: .

After all your talk of farmers markets, decided to pay our local one a visit and bought some lovely looking veggies and a pot of Angelsey honey. Mouth watering at thought of cauli with sausage and mint sauce tomorrow for tea. Yes I know it sounds odd but I just love cauli and mint sauce :D .

Yesterdays visit to DD's was a triumph on the wallpapering front. She did it all herself with my advise. I wasn't sure about the paint colour but it all looks lovely, I'll have to get her advise on my colour schemes from now on.

Best go as little ol' Jen is waiting for her walk and I'm getting hungry. No food till she's walked I've told myself, then it's a huge salad with some of the new veg I bought today and a yogurt for pud. DS is off college today as DH kindly passed on his lurgy. The drated boy has just put a frozen baggette in the oven and the heavenly walf is coming my way:eek: . Tea will be a Bean and Veg Hotpot with sweet potato wedgies cooked using chilli infused olive oil. This is absolute torture. Must get out of the house pronto.

Big congrats all you losers. RS you are a saint :A . Your DD would have been packed off to her fathers by now if she were mine. Sometimes they need the shock to see the consiquences of their actions. MRSM am nearly as green as Frogga hearing how advanced all your veggies are. Any luck with peas?? Haven't planted mine yet but dreading another year of large empty patch of soil where the little perishers should have been. What the heck happened to them  .

    Bye for now,
    Suz

Nice to 'see' you feeling better RS.
I'm a little embarrassed - it's my ex OH who is ill. He's my kids dad though and I need to be there for them, especially my daughter who is obviously going to be expected to do the caring even though she has 2 kids herself!
My son is a churlish grown-up now, I haven't seen him for ages but your relationship with your daughter sounds similar - the constant selfish attitude. I packed him off to his dad's and he never came back!
