:hello: everyone - just got computer back from repair and it is fine now so I have just had a very quick look through the threads and will read in detail later. Hi to all the newbies and well done to all the losers (especially you cheerfulness - 6lbs in a week when it isn't your first week is awesome!) and encouragement to all the strugglers.
I lost 2lbs this week which means I have 7lbs to lose by the BH challenge (ooh just got distracted by that pig flying past the window!).
I have been fairly good over the last week, but last night I made a shepherds pie (all healthy - no added fat and extra lean mince plus I added swede to the potato to make it healthier) and had a reasonable portion for my evening meal. DD1 came in late last night and heated herself up the remainder of it and then pronounced it to be "totally rank" so I ended up eating it - not a good move at nearly midnight........ so this morning I have a real food hangover IYKWIM. I haven't been able to even face a drink yet and it is 10.30! I will cut back on both carbs and red meat over the next few days as I reckon in total last night I must have eaten almost a pound of mince with my meal and scoffing of the leftovers:o
planned meals for today are:
Lunch - prawn and cottage cheese salad (no bread or coleslaw though
Dinner - hot roast chicken and salad - I plan to make a beansprout and red pepper salad which is lovely - you just mix beansprouts, shredded red pepper and shredded spring onion with a dressing made of soy sauce, vinegar, a bit of honey (I use sweetner if I am being good) and some ginger (fresh is best but I use ground) and black pepper. It's lovely and tasty.
talking of salads - do any of you ever have cold defrosted peas in mint sauce with salad? We always had it when I was little and we also used to have cold baked beans too.
I have also this week discovered that the sponge flan bases in the supermarket are really low in calories and fat - I used one the other day and just put fresh sliced strawberries all over it and then made up a sachet of quick gel (I didn't know that it isn't sweetned so I added sweetner instead of sugar) and poured it over and it was lovely - a quarter of the flan worked out at 2.5 WW points which isn't bad as it was so nice.
Anyway will read the thread in more detail now but hope you are all having a lovely weekend!
Oh yes - just popped back to say that I got a great exercise DVD off of ebay. It is geared to big people though anyone can do it and it is called "Walk away the pounds" and you basically just follow this woman on the DVD as she does all sorts of in home walking exercises. She gives a really motivational talk as she does it and there is a little meter thing on the bottom of the screen which tells you how far you have "walked" - I had done a mile in no time which was about 2000 steps - I was thrilled because I don't like to go out walking as I am so embarassed about my size so it was great - and the moneysaving bit is that it only cost £4!!Jane

Just had to pop in to say well done cheerfulness. And recovering. I know all weight loss is brilliant but it really gees me up when someone loses big or moves into next stone bracket. I'm off into town to meet my ladies for lunch but it'll be coffee for me as I'm not hungry (ate DS leftovers too RS so got the dreaded food hangover, I could barely move last night
).

I keep forgetting to tell you about an extraordinary pud I developed last summer. Basically stew small chunks of rhubarb in enough water to prevent burning & allow to cool slightly; add tin of stawberries in juice & leave till cold. Strain with slotted spoon into meringue nests & dribble juices over as required.....nomnomnomnomnomnom:p
There's no added sugar cuz the sweetness comes from the strawbs & meringue & I think the shop-bought ones are something like 3 syns for two on SW. I really couldn't say if I'd seen it on TV or summat, but it was an idea that came into my head & wouldn't go till I'd tried it
Well Done on the Losses guys....I really really need to get my act together if I'm to get into smaller nix in 9 days:oFull time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

:j :j :j Well done Cheerfullness:j :j :j
Had a rubbish night last night, I had some really bad news (my ex hubby has cancer and my daughter is devastated) so I ate and drank a lot:mad:
Better day today though, my stuffing my face isn't going to help anyone.
Egg, mushrooms and toast for brekkie, salad with soya beans for lunch and SW quiche, sweet potato roasties and peas for tea, oh, and a banana and a likkle SF jelly pot.
I've had a walk and I've done some more wallpaper stripping in the spare room.:j
I will have a glass of wine tonight (there's a bit left in the bottle) but don't think I'll eat anything else.
Off to the allotment tomorrow, hopefully to get some seedlings planted so that I can get my windowsills back.
See you tomorrow folks :A0 -
Rockie - sorry to hear of your bad news (((hugs))) to you and your family xDo what you love :happyhear0

Evening everyone,
Cheerfulness, can't tell you how chuffed I was for you this morning.... put a great big smile on my face you did! You're going to have to let us know what your new challenge is now, seeing as you've already smashed both BH targets to little bits with weeks to spare!:T
Nice to see you back Recovering, well done on the 2lb!:T
Still haven't shifted this flippin cold although I do feel better than I did. Should have been going for an italian tonight.... luckily it wasn't for a special occasion so I won't have to miss out - we've postponed it til next weekend!:D
Just got a chicken out of the freezer ready for tomorrow.... haven't fancied much (or been able to taste!) for the past few days but the idea of a good old Sunday roast is already making my mouth water and giving me a rumbly tummy..... think I'm on the mend!!!:D0 -
Rockie - so sorry to hear your sad news. I hope your ex-hubby can beat it and your daughter can cope with the fight, poor lass.
Recovering - well done to you on your loss again this week. :T :T Glad to see that you're all up and running with your pc now and back with us.
And all the rest of you lovely lot, thanks for being so supportive. You made my day with all your wonderful encouragement. DH was reading all the posts over my shoulder and grinning.
He actually has lost this week too..... to be fair I'm sulking because an hour after I got weighed he jumped on the scales and trumped my 6lb with a 7 1/2 lb loss. And he had a big bag of revels this week. Naturally we're no longer talking.:rotfl:
DS1 quickly made it quite clear that he was only prepared to sponser me with rewards each 7lbs lost because, ' mum's got loads to lose.' Bloomin' cheek.
Hope all you poorly ones feel much better soon.... especially if you've lost your taste like droopydrawers. The thought of that happening to me feels me with fear. Happened to me twice before and I was convinced it was gone for good and panicking. I'm such a piggy.
OH just made the drinks so we're away to bed for a cuppa and read of our mags until CSI.

Hi
Nice to be here and catch up with all your news, well done losers, esp Recovering, I missed you!
I've had a bit of a mixed day food wise. Had the chorus comp in Leeds, so had to have brek reasonably early and not as many drinks before I went as I would have liked.
Forgot my grapefruit for brek, but did have my porridge and a little banana. Took cut up apple, veg and some hummus with me, but succombed to the big cookie and cuppa after we had competed.
DH and DS were on chip shop tea, in case I wasn't home in time, but I was. I had a piece of chicken from the chippy, but it wasn't too greasy, was quite nice, had it with salad andn 3 chips.
Oh! just remembered , had another snack, when I got in had a cuppa and the other half of a bar of choc I started the other evening. There was a time when there was no way that I could leave half a bar of chocolate, so I regard this as a big step forward.[SIZE=-1]"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Cheerfulness....very well done...that is a great loss...I would be taking out ads in the national papers if I had a loss like that!
To-day I have eaten:
Porridge with chopped banana and honey, coffee;
Salad with buckling, beetroot and two slices bread and butter, 5 boiled sweets;
Pasta carbonara with no parmesan, glass of water.
Night all.
