Afternoon everyone,
NEWLYWED At work, I only get 30 mins for my lunch, so after ive had something to eat, Ive not got much time to go for a walk. I only work 4 hours on the days that im working(and I dont work every day, one week I work 2 days, and the following week I work 3 days). My Mum would watch DS if I asked her, but, he is alot of hard work, and I feel really rotten asking her. Its not long until September anyway, so, I will just hang on in there, and wait until hes at nursery and then I can start my walking and going to the gym.
MRS M Girls weekend away was brilliant, and it did do me the world of good, however, I dont think I have eaten or drank as much in my life. There was 6 of us away, and between the 6 of us we had 3 bottles of those shot drinks (They were called Stiffys:rotfl: :rotfl: oooerr missis), on top of all the other drinks we had, and I was on the tia marias and the guinness!!!!
Anway today for breakfast I had bran flakes with S/S milk
Lunch: HM bread with ham and HM coleslaw & a mullerlight yogurt
Dinner: HM chicken curry with rice & probably chips cos the kids & DH love having chips with their curry.
I really need to start and be very serious if i want to lose some weight before I go on holiday in June. ive bought myself lots of lovely summer clothes and if im not careful, im not going to look nice or feel comfortable in them when I go.
I dont think I will make the May Day challenge considering its just under 2 weeks away, but, if I could just lose 7lbs between now and me going on holiday, I will be very very happy.

LOL.. but it isn't working and I've decided I'll cope with my knees hurting.. I don't think I am meant to be lighter than I am.. my weight has been static for 2.5 years.. before that I only lost weight because I was miserable (pnd and my gran died) and moving house
savoury mince and mash for breakfast! lol
Since I started here do you realise I've lost nothing... since last August not a bean. I find totally demoralising seeing others doing really well or even losing 1lb a month.. I can't even do that!
oh.. and I am an incurable pig!
At least you've maintained :rotfl: better than the 2stone gain that I've had!
Just back from the buffet - 3 little butties, a handful of crisps ........and a cream horn!! No wine *polishes halo*

Pigpen - it's a matter of motivation, I find. I've been lurking on this thread for months and have barely lost an ounce.
Now I realise that my daughter's wedding is a month off and I've just got to be able to get into the new outfit I've bought! Already I'm doing better (two pounds off in the last week, despite falling off the wagon badly with a bottle of wine over the weekend!):D
Never despair! If we are supposed to be thin, why does chocolate exist?0 -
Hi all,
Feel absolutely rubbish today, have got that nasty rasping cough and 'tap-nose' cold that is doing the rounds at the moment. Didn't feel like eating anything at all but made sure I had something so I don't eat crap later today.
B/L: 2 slices wholmeal toast with laughing cow light cheese spreadSuspect it will be roast chicken with veg again as neither OH or I feel like going out shopping or standing up cooking so leftovers will have to do. Better than takeaway though
S: A Love food Fruit and nut bar, only 140 calories and is basically just nuts stuck together with some dried fruit.
I did try making my own flapjacks but they were just too high in fat and calories for me to have as a snack and they went off before we ate them all. Must have a fiddle with the recipe and see what I can do
Have a good day all0 -
Afternoon all,
Congratulations to the losers
Purpleivy...the soup was made from Rachel's (Allen) food for living, where it is called 'Spanish Chorizo and Chickpea soup'. Can't find it on-line, she did it last week on tv and my daughter has the book...recipe as follows:
1 tbsp olive oil,
125g (5 ozs) chorizo, diced,
1 onion, peeled and finely chopped,
2 celery stalks, finely chopped,
2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed or grated (I used 6),
2 X 400g tins of chopped tomatoes or 8 fresh tomatoes, peeled and chopped,
1 400g tine chickpeas undrained ( I used what dried chickpeas I had, soaked and cooked plus tin of butter beans),
1 litre ( 1 3/4 pints) chicken stock,
Salt and freshly ground black pepper,
250 g ( 9 oz) spinach, destalked and finely chopped,or baby spinach leaves left whole ( had no spinach so left out)
Place olive oil and chorizo in large saucepan and cook for 1-2 minutes until chorizo releases its oils, then add chopped onion, celery and garlic. Cook on gentle heat with lid on until the onion is cooked, about 10 minutes, remove lid, turn up heat for about a minute to slightly brown onion.
Add chickpeas and their liquid, chopped tomatoes and the stock. Season with salt and pepper adn simmer for about 20 minutes until the tomatoes are soft and the chickpeas have absorbed all the flavours. Taste for seasoning, adding more salt and pepper if necessary.
While the mixture is still simmering, add the spinach and cook for 1 minute, until the spinach is soft. Serve in big warm bowls. Really good, hearty soup.
Today I have eaten:
Stewed rhubarb, 2 tsps sugar;
Tuna salad sandwich, pickled cornichon, coffee.
Dinner will be the soup I think as there are lamb chops but I don't really fancy lamb today.
Have been trying to do the 32 chews thing, works fine for meat etc but some things seem to slip down without very much chewing at all...think its the slowing down that makes the difference, so trying that for now.
Good luck to all, pigpen, you are no worse than me so stay where you are please!

Wel, I eventually got going this morning.....MIL rang and said would I call for something and how long would I be. So started with coffee there! When she rang I had just got out of the shower (10.40) and the rest of the day has gone slowly as well.
Porridge and grapefruit for brek was OK. I can chew-chew grapefruit, even the canned stuff, but porridge? How, pray, do I chew porridge?
Or lunch? That wasn't chewable either....well most of it wasn't! LOL! By then I had got feathers at Hobbycraft ( vvvvvery expensive feathers at £30.11... well they were £1.79, but I found dressmaking pins that I needed and a couple of rubber stamps... not that I haven't got stuff I haven't used...but perfect for 'chap' cards and we alllllll know how difficult they can be! I really am going to get my craft stuff out again, but got to do this sewing for chorus first)
Stuff at Boots included Bathroom scales ... ahem! also topped up on medications and toothpaste. Managed to get a load of points and save ££ stuff as well.
Back to the scales. Some of you may remember I was umming and ahhhing about the wisdom of these. I feel that I need them as a motivational tool and the old ones can't make up their mind about what you weigh...it depends how you stand and not even then do you get a constant weight. I think they are thumbing their little nose at you somehow. The new ones are fine on stone floor downstairs, they decide how much you weigh and then flash at you. OK. They have a 50g division, so that extra p is obviously quite important! Need to choose carefully when I get weighed! As long as the downward trend is down I don't care.
Well, then it was time for lunch. I decided that I would like a Mc Flurry and that would be the basis of lunch, pluss a fruit and nut snack with a cuppa when I got home again. Just doing that now. Aldi oranges need the old chew chew chew. McFlurry was limited in its chewiness!
I wonder about the cals etc in Mc Flurry, Short of taking my scales with me.... They do have published cal contents somewhere on their website I think, but they never come the same size. Todays was as I feel it should be. The cup was about 2/3 full. (yeah, OK, a bit small then, but perfect for today) Sometimes they fill them so that if the lid wasn't on it would be all over the place. Such a Mc FLurry doesn't have a place in my present regime. Sometimes they put a teeny bit of topping and sometimes a bit more."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I have a healthy (-er!!) flapjack recipe I will try to dig out for you this week (am dead busy tonight though)"She who asks is a fool once. She who never asks is a fool forever"

Hi All
Pigpen, I can sympathise with you as I seem to have lost very little despite trying really hard. I've had loads of walks over the past 6 weeks, have religiously stuck to 1400 calories per day and am still not losing much, if any. In fact I weigh more today than I did 3 weeks ago. So much for my initial hope of losing 2 stone in the 6 months I've been here. I am going back to the doctor next week for another blood test to check my thyroid function as that may be contributing to it.
I haven't actually been too good today after all that. We went out for lunch with friends for his birthday and to say goodbye and I succumbed to a pudding which added a massive 350 calories to the total!! However, I did get a walk along the beach this morning and got OH to drop me off to walk home when we dropped our friends off which was another 2,800 steps to bring my total up a bit. I also gave half my chips to OH so just had a small portion. I think I may need to go for a couple of circuits round the park whilst he watches tv this evening to make it up to 10,000 though.
B: Fruit and fibre, skimmed milk. Pineapple juice.
L: Cajun chicken, chips, salad. Ben and Jerry's Chocolate chip icecream with cookie dough. 2 large Cokes.
I won't need another meal but will just have fruit and yoghurt for the rest of the evening.
Well done all those who are managing to lose. Even a lb loss eventually mounts up.
Rose
PS Just popped back to say I managed to do an extra 50 minutes of walking after posting so have done 15,000 steps today. Hopefully that might have walked off the icecream dessert!!Weight Loss Challenge 5/7/19 10st 6lbs
