    Excellent idea!
My tip is really depressing, though.... give up alcohol! (sorry!)
I'm not sure which thread it should be on either - losing weight, giving up drinking or just general moneysaving as it does all three at the same time.

I gave up three weeks ago and I've lost 1/2 stone whilst eating whatever I like. Bummer, eh....

it's horrifying how many empty calories are in alcohol! I've recently started knitting again and that's helped me to stop drinking - any attempts to knit after a glass of wine have been a disaster and ruined my work so far!

    Hi skintmum,

I've added your thread to the current Old Style weight loss thread as that's the best place to get support for losing weight on the Old Style board.

There are other threads that may help too:

    Morning all....

Im back... soaked to the skin... steamed up glasses (one day someone will invent wipers for glasses and de-misters) but happy as it was 2hrs exercise and i got some bargains :D ..spent €5.09 and got:-

    1 kilo rhubarb
    2 kilo leeks
    1.5 kilo broccoli
    1 huge aubergine
    1 kilo courgettes
    1 kilo carrots
a pot of tarragon and a pot of chives to stick in the tubs outside :D

So tomorrow will be broccoli n leeks in cheese sauce with jackets :j and i will be making a large batch of creamy leek n potato soup and one of cream of broccoli too....
a courgett quiche later in the week and a moussaka type dish made with grated potato and feta nomnomnom oh and im thinking of stewing the rhubarb to mix in with the Apfelmus i have ;)

Right enough waffle... meals today :-
    1. brekkie -cherry yogurt
    2. lunch -leftover pasta salad
    3. dinner - jacket potato with cottage cheese and salad
    4. snacks -fruit or yogurts
    Well done skintmumof3 :T

Rockie..im jealous... you have been to Matlock again  .... When we went there regularly a few years ago we used to go to a pub on the way to Chatsworth..called the Devonshire arms..the food was out of this world... but the last time we went it was awful..they had obviously jumped on the mass produced, get em in and out as quick as possible train of thought and totally ruined the place  ...
Does Caulwell mill still have the little tea room? last time we went we didn't get that far as they were closed.... they used to do lovely soup and cakes :p -do i give the impression that i am lead by my stomach ?:rotfl: I would love to live out that way when we move back -if ever we could afford it... we spent most weekends of the summer there as kids... a cheap day out when mum n dad had 5 to deal with.. pack up a picnic and away we went... Matlock bath was our fave :D

Cheerfulness.....:j pepper plants...woohooo :j you just didn't want to be left behind did you :rotfl: ... little devils they are... I bet all mine end up surviving since i planted extras "just in case" :rotfl:
You are so right about cumbers... did you know that if you don't want to fetch a whole one in at a time -you can just cut the piece you want off the end, cover the cut edge with foil and leave it on the plant ;) ..god the rubbish i learn :o .. I grew some lemon cucumbers a couple of years ago -they are about the same size n shape as a lemon and have a delicate sharp flavour just the right size for 2 and this year im having a go at some called "crystal apple" again as they should be a nice size for us... mind im growing normal ones too..

Good luck with the weigh in MHE and anyone else stepping on today ;)

Floyd.... that lunch of yours made my mouth water :p minus the olives though.... but goats cheese..i love that stuff

Taplady...hm jam n cream scones ...slurpppppp... My niece makes the nicest cream scones i have ever tasted.. mind has anyone tried the tesco finest ones  they are out of this world... and come in 2s which is awfull as hubby doesn't like them ;) .. can't remember the last time i had one of those -but i can still remember the taste :D . Hope your last day off is a nice one

Right i will get off and give my mum a ring...well when i have got into my scruffy comfies ;) . Have a great day everyone and keep up the good work :D

I am wondering if my scales are on the blink..

Yesterday they said I was 11st 10.. today it is 11st 13.. now.. after the time I spent in the bathroom yesterday that isn't possible.. and also after I picked up my very heavy boots it STILL said 11st 13.. I think they are needing repacing cos they is dead..

Hubby just bringing me milk then I'll devour some rice krispies.

I know what you mean about the Devonshire arms! The last time we went there they had 3 veggie choices which involved mushrooms and had run out of mushrooms so I had to have pasta in tomato sauce which looked as if it had come out of a tin and they charged an exorbitant price  we haven't been since.

The teashop is still at the mill,:D we went to get our flour there but didn't go in the tea rooms this time, they still do fantastic cakes, as OH says , you know you've had a piece of cake when you've been in there - HUGE slices:D :D
I like Matlock Bath, we go to the Venetian Nights festival in September, it's lovely.
We would love to live out there, Bakewell is my favourite but short of a lottery win.....

OH is working around Buxton a lot at the moment, he says that's the only good thing about this job - the scenery!!!!

    Hi,
I completely went bonkers over the weekend - driven to gorge on anything I wanted by premenstrual hormones and a bit of stress about some family stuff. Now the hormones have subsided (leaving me with cracking period pain but at least I'm sane again!) I'm going to start again.
I really did eat anything and everything - sweets at the cinema, choc chip shortbreads, pizza, apple crumble and custard, half a bottle of wine - only vaguely balanced out by a bit of dog walking.

So, its a new week and I'm travelling with work a lot this week - Germany tomorrow and Weds, Dublin for the day on Friday, then a hen night in Chester on Saturday and finally off to the US on Tuesday next week until Friday morning when I get back and collapse!

Food will be a disaster because its all hotels and aeroplane food but I'll try to keep it to a minimum of rubbish!
Why do things always conspire against you?
Anyway I weighed and at least there's no change upwards! (yet!)

Have a better day than me....!;)

    Morning all,

pebbles - If you haven't already sown them, just pop each one in a pot of compost (or loo roll core) on its side and cover lightly. They are amazingly easy to grow and the seedlings are huge fat leaves when they come up, more like plants. You'll love them. :D
I think HM cucumbers taste 100% better than shop bought and grow a mile a minute once the fruits are on. Lots of lovely free salad.

I've one tiny little chilli pepper seedling just beginning to pop through so I've put a plastic hat on it so the sun helps it today. So excited. :T

    .

Loo roll core on its side :o im confused now??? also if i put them in pots, how big will they need to be??
Please be nice to all moneysavers!
