    Hi all

Thanks to everyone who has checked up on me today!!! (Cheerfullness, toniwoty, purpleivy, rachelmk, Mrs Mc, taplady). I laughed when I read each one and it did do the trick. All day I was aware of what I was eating because 'someone' might ask me!!!!!!!! :rotfl:

I have had a good day today. I was only slightly hungry this morning and has 1 slice of wholemeal toast with olive spread and jam for breakfast before taking DD's to school. I then went to Sainsbury's to get DD's more school uniform and called at my mun's on the way back for a cup of tea.

Lunch was some leftover pearl barley and sardine rissoto with home grown spinach (leftover from dinner). I didn't think about how much I should or shouldn't eat, but had what I needed.

I then had a lovely afternoon planting vegetables in the garden. Really enjoyable.

I think that is the part of the problem with me - sometimes I spend all day doing boring things (housework etc) and don't allow any time for things I enjoy (like gardening). When I get to the evening I tend to binge to cheer myself up. Well, no more.

Thanks to everyone for helping me start on this weight loss journey. I am determined to get there this time.

Crumbs purpleivy - that was cheap. My dentist was quoting someone £40 just to be seen without anything done. The breakdown with check-up, x-ray and filling was estimated at £180+. That was private treatment..not sure what independant means either.

Thanks for the 'loan offer' of DS but I think he'd be happiest in a house where his musical talent is truly appreciated. :p I'm still traumatised by my sis learning the violin 30 odd years ago.

MRSMC - I think you might be right, I should have the potatoes. I'm ready for my tea already so I'm thinking I'll go ahead as planned and try and eat slowly enough so that I can gauge when I've had enough.
Time I learnt to stop thinking and start feeling about how much food I need.

There was method in my madness. Both children learned instruments in the lower register, rather than upper. Would you rather listen to the mellifluous tones of the trombone or cello, or squeaky violins and trumpets?

Re dental treatment.... I had a check up which was quoted at £12.50. DH had NHS one a few weeks ago at £15+.. XRay is normally a few quid. I had a new bit bonded on where the old bit of tooth had broken away. I think it was a sort of synthetic 'filling', which was set with a UV lamp. AND I was given a choice of treatments! He discussed it with me and answered questions. AND the work is guaranteed for a year AND if I decide I want a crown instead he will take the cost off the filling off the price of the crown. I think I will try there again and see how it goes on.

hi, has anyone been watching the old fashioned way of dieting on channel 4?? it was on last night at 9pm.
well, the interesting thing i found was the edwardian dieters were allowed to eating any thing they liked, but they had to chew each mouthful 32 times.....
but each week they have come out as the highest losers........
is it anything to do with the brain not realising we are full until 20 mins after scoffing a dozen cream cakes....lol

I have watched some of it as I work sometimes with one of the edwardian ladies - Kristy - she's done brilliantly and lost loads and looks fab now!
I have come to realise that chewing more and eating more slowly also helps my IBS, as does reducing my portion sizes.

Caterina - I like proper spaghetti too!;)

cheerfulness - I love baking and if I know its for someone else I'm not tempted to eat some.:D . It is a gorgeous lemon drizzle cake though!every one who tries it loves it!

Rage In Eden - well done!:T 2lbs is brilliant!

Well I have had my weigh in and lost a pound this week:j taking me to bang on target!:T

Good luck to anyone weighing in tomorrow!
    Do what you love :happyhear

Following my brunch onion sandwich I had about a slice of bread in dribs and drabs and then two small baked spuds, lots of peas and piece of haddock, also had my stewed apple... have discovered that a little cinnamon almost does away with any need for sugar. Very proud to be eating our own apples this time of year, they are coming to an end now but there are frozen ones in freezer and a few which I seem to have dried successfully.

Bought tinned spaghetti about 25 years ago as kids asked...didn't like it and when I thought about what it was didn't buy it again.

May need small fill up in a minute before I go to bed..

    Night all

    Morning all!

Today will be a toughie as one of the girls who has been off on maternity leave is coming in for coffee which usually means cake. I took decisive action yesterday and offered to buy the cakes, that way I can pick something that I can have as well!

B: Porridge, skimmed milk, chopped apple
S: Coffee and a Jaffa Cake bar (I bought squidgy stuff as well for those who can eat it or don't care if its a zillion calories an inch ) :rotfl:
    L: Veg and barley broth
D: Pollo alla Cacciatora (not sure what to have it with yet, maybe just veg or a small amount of wholewheat pasta or just salad)

Might go for another long walk if the weather stays nice, if not I will challenge OH to a Wii boxing match

Wow it's cold here today. They've promised us sunshine, and it is bright, but I'm shivering. :snow_grin

A big well done to Rage of eden and Taplady on your losses. :T :T

And also thanks again for 'crackerwatch' yesterday. It did the trick because each time I looked at the cracker tub I just burst out laughing and thought of you lot. :rotfl:

Glad we all helped you too Donnap. ;) I was thinking about what you said regarding all the 'have to's' in a day crowding out the 'want to's'. Its true, isn't it? When I've set aside an hour for sowing seeds, pottering in the greenhouse or just sifting through my wardrobe trying on stuff, I feel really lifted.

Purpleivy - with me its the harp or the saxophone. Both of those I could listen to till the cows come home. :D

Yesterdays food turned out fine in the end and I had my tatties as I really did need them.
I even swapped the salad for baked beans as I craved something warm and filling, so had scotch egg, baked beans and some steamed potato. Was lovely.
Topped it off with 2 apples and 2 pears and a mandarin during the day, so I got some healthy fruit in there eventually.

    Food today:
Readybrek (eyed up the rice crispies but I'd be hungry in an hour with them)
Cheese salad sandwich on HM seedy bread
Mackerel salad with jacket potato and apple coleslaw

Snacks - pears, apple and mandarin

Rose wood - I suspect DS1 and mum and dad are getting rained out in Portugal too. Fortunately DS1 took his lappy and a stash of our dvd's just in case so that he and his cousins can settle down round that if needs be. I've had visions of them watching Transformers and Casino Royale a million times. :p They're in a huge villa tho with everything so they should all be happy and contented.

Need another mug of tea before I can face hoovering the 'hidden bits' today. :o And I've still got DS1's room to face...was saved by my friend turning up yesterday. :p

Be good everyone... and we're still watching donnap so no snacking! :naughty:

update - checked the freezer and NO HM BREAD. How the heck did that happen?! Now I've got to have some Tesco's bakery stuff that was reduced. Nice enough but not the same. :( Oh well, another thing to add to my list of jobs and I do love the smell of bread baking. :p
