See I tried the chewing everything for a hoog amount of times once - but unless you're eating a bit of steak most things go to mush within a few chews then all you're doing is sat there chewing your gums (says the woman who just dunked a bikket and inhaled it rathern than chewed it :D)

32 times a mouthful..well that would certainly slow my eating down which can't be a bad thing. I've not seen that programme. Wish I had now, sounds interesting.

Thank you all for 'Crackerwatch.' :rotfl: :rotfl: Its kept me chuckling and out of the cracker tub. ;)

However... :o need a bit of a fix foodwise. A friend arrived at the door just when I'd put my water in the pan for my boiled egg. I'd completely forgotten I was supposed to pick her up and go visit an elderly friend.
Upshot was...stayed in talking and drinking tea (her husband on new treatment for Park's dis and quite poorly so she's down) and I made us a buttered toasted teacake. Why didn't I offer her a boiled egg? Just seemed to strange thing to give her.
I've just driven her home and was starving so, looking longingly at my wml bread, had 2 x bread and butter with apricot jam.

So, I've had lots of carbs and no veg, fruit or protein. How to quick fix it better?
Plan was scotch egg salad with steamed pots. Should I just knock off the potatoes to make up for having the teacake?

Still feeling hungry actually but I did gobble down my bread and jam so it's probably not hit my stomach yet. :o Would just like to have a decent day after yesterday. Not easy when someone has to mention lemon drizzle cake, too. When I'm 90 I'm hoping someone loves me enough to bake me cake. :D Aren't you a nice person Taplady. ;)

Oh and those scones sound scrummy...double cream in, my kind of treat. :p

I would still have spudly duddlies with your salad.. or you will probably be hungrier later on and end up with a "quick fix" ;) especially if you are still hungry now. I have finally learnt that after oooohhhh how many years :p

My lunch plans went awry. I didn't manage to get my lunch before I went to the dentist. Have just returned and don't want to start on egg, toms etc, so am having a bowl of HM granola mixed with puffed oats. jacket spud still the plan for later.

Tried a new dentist and he's fixed my crumbling tooth. It feels smooth again now the broken off bit has been sorted out. Have had a change of dentist, the last one is a long way off and although NHS we don't like them there! This new one is 'independent'. Not sure if this is different to 'private' or not. I had a check up and a mend for £45. The check up would have been £12.50 on its own. If I'm not happy with the mend then I can change my mind and have a crown done. Mend is guaranteed for a year! Let's see how we go.

I've been hungry at work all day, so am munching a packet of low fat crisps I had in my drawer. Will skip the toast with my ommellete tonight though x

    Hi all

Good day so far for me, did the work I needed to do, a little housework too, and 1 hour keep fit (bums and tums) that worked me out nicely.

Breakfast: 1 small slice wm bread, 1 oz smoked salmon, 1 bowl of strawberries and blueberries covered in vlf cottage cheese

Snack: 1 small wm slice bread, 1 low fat cheese triangle, 1 orange

Lunch: leek, carrot, cabbage and noodle soup, tomato salad with 1 oz feta crumbled in

Going to have a snack now, probably 1 ryvita with peanut butter or something vaguely sweet.

I am having dinner at my friend's but she knows I am losing weigh the SW way so she is cooking pasta with veg and tomato sauce (low fat), I cannot imagine she will give me anything too fattening - but if she makes pudding I am so going to have a little bit!

    Love to all

    Caterina

ps Taplady, if you have to eat tinned spaghetti so be it, but why not have the freshly cooked stuff instead, so much nicer!

Tonywoty, of course your DS loves the stuff, it is ok for little children LOL

Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Crumbs purpleivy - that was cheap. My dentist was quoting someone £40 just to be seen without anything done. The breakdown with check-up, x-ray and filling was estimated at £180+. That was private treatment..not sure what independant means either.

Thanks for the 'loan offer' of DS but I think he'd be happiest in a house where his musical talent is truly appreciated. :p I'm still traumatised by my sis learning the violin 30 odd years ago.

MRSMC - I think you might be right, I should have the potatoes. I'm ready for my tea already so I'm thinking I'll go ahead as planned and try and eat slowly enough so that I can gauge when I've had enough.
Time I learnt to stop thinking and start feeling about how much food I need.

    Hi All,

Wow it's been busy on here today so can't remember all that's been happening. I've been feeling hungry all day so there must be something in the air - though I have resisted munching so far I've had lots of milky coffees (tiny and made with skimmed milk so only 40 calories each).

It's been raining again all day so have spent the afternoon curled up on the sofa watchin a DVD. We watched The Shipping News which I'd heard of but never seen. I quite enjoyed it but wouldn't want to see it again.

B: Muesli etc. Pineapple juice. - Breakfast is fast becoming my favourite meal of the day as I am waking up hungry most mornings.
L: HM carrot soup. Tiny piece broken off OH's scone.
D: Thought I might have eggy bread (OH is having left over minced beef with jacket potatoes) followed by a frozen raspberry yoghurt.

It looks like it might be clearing up a bit so I shall try and motivate myself for a quick walk around our 'park' - only 1,400 steps but better than nothing.

  • Hello everyone - must be something in the air as I have been hungry all day today too - well, not hungry exactly (I don't think I have been actually hungry since I was about 11) but "peckish" and wanting something to eat all the time.

I had two slices brown toast, dry, with 1 egg for breakfast,
2 slices of dry brown bread with cottage cheese and a cup of hm pea and mint soup for lunch, followed by a scoop of ice cream (couldn't resist - was clearing out freezer and there was this old tub with about one scoop left in so I ate it - wasn't all that nice either!)
Dinner was leftover hm turkey curry with a little bit of rice followed by a small piece of camembert and a frozen banana.

I am not actually hungry now but I could really fancy something nice to eat:o Don't have anything in the house other than healthy stuff but I really have had enough food for today I think.

I wish I was one of those people who forget to eat... I can honestly say that never have I forgotten to eat a meal. Never. Not once. Ever. Even when things are really hectic, when I am on my own, whenever - I always make myself something to eat. My Mum could go for days on a piece of bread and loads of cups of tea - she would never bother with food but I am just the opposite!I love reading recipe books and watching cooking programmes on telly - no wonder I'm fat! DD1 eats like a horse but only when she's hungry, whereas DD2, poor thing, is just like me - first thing she says when I meet her from school is "What's for tea?" and she regularly goes into the kitchen and makes herself something to eat - DD1 would NEVER do this - she just eats junk or demands that I cook her something....

Oh well, hope you can all stay out of the kitchen cupboards tonight!
