ok well WI was not good :o 1.5lb on, just like i expected. i appear to have got in a rut of 2.5 off, 1.5 on. at least the general trend is down. but i'm still pretty p*ssed off. not sure where i went wrong, don't think i've been particularly naughty.
ah well think this week i will do (and stick to  ) the special k-esque diet. i meant to this week but always found i fancied something else at lunchtime, but didn't have naughty things, just a sandwich or a boiled egg.

i'm gonna go sulk in a corner with my bottom lip stuck out.
    see you tomorrow folks

  • Don't be too downhearted Toniwoty - as you say the general trend is downwards which is good. I haven't lost anything the last two weeks after I lost 10lbs in my first week "back" on the diet. I am hoping to lose something this week though.

Whilst were confessing non OS things I have to say that I love Batchelors savoury rice, in the mild curry flavour - I love it for a lazy tea. I also sometimes do oven chips because I won't have a chip pan or deep fat fryer. When I make hm carrot and swede mash I always add a good spoonful of Mr Mash potato flakes - it absorbs the excess water in the carrot and swede - I hate it when carrot and swede goes all watery....

Delia uses Aunty Bessies frozen mash! so if its good enough for her!:D (havent tried it myself and I cant stand smash:D )

Watch out for Aunt Bessie frozen mash, it is not fat free and it contains butter (in case you wondered!). I had a taste of it in a supermarket the other day where they were doing a sampling and it is gorgeous (but while I am slimming I would rather control the amount of fat I use in my food).

While I am here I am going to update on my dinner which was delicious! Breakfast and lunch in my prev. post earlier on.

Dinner: Polenta with a sauce made with frylight fried onions, carrots, parsnip, celery and tomato. Spread cooked polenta on plate, covered with sauce then crumbled 1 1/2 oz Vinney blue cheese (a bit like stilton but less fat) on the lot, ate it with great relish. Also had kale with a little olive oil, lettuce salad (with leaves from my garden!) with low fat homemade vinaigrette, and 1 low fat SO Organic yogurt, pineapple flavour.

I am well fed now, but all that talk of butter and cakes really made me hungry again hehehe!

Re. smash: prior to my current DH I was married to a Scotsman who, one day that I DARED offer him smash with his dinner, was truly indignant! This guy knew his tatties by name and surname, no kidding, he would say: Maris Piper goes with this, or Pink Fir goes with that, he lived for Jersey Royals season etc etc etc....

BUT: he ate TINNED SPAGHETTI!!! Which in my Italian mind is a total HORROR NO NO NO!!!

It was a clash of cultures hehe

Love to all, I am off to bed before I hit the buttered toast!

I think that you have summed up what we should all be doing! I always get the idea that I have ruined everything if I have even a little bit of non-diet food and this then this triggers my kamikaze mentality and I eat all kinds of stuff, thinking "Oh I'll go back on my diet tomorrow" - which is why I am in the state I'm in weight wise! Well done for eating normally - I wish I could get the hang of it!

Believe me, its taken a long time for me to get to that stage. Years of being with OH who can make a bar of chocolate last 3 days or leave half his dinner because he 'doesn't feel like it' has taught me a few lessons. Just after Christmas, he started buying me big bars of Galaxy and would 'challenge' me to have a strip every other day and eat it slowly. After a few weeks, I stopped craving it all the time and even forgot it was there because I wasn't depriving myself of anything. The same with crisps, instead of having them in the house every now and again I would buy us a packet each from the vending machine in work at the end of the day as an occaional treat.

I still have kamikaze moments but they are a lot less frequent and I seem to do far less damage :D

    morning all

well i'm drawing a line under my sulk yesterday, giving myself a kick up the bum and getting on with it!
did quite well with my 'change one thing' last week and have been drinking lots more. this week i've decided to make sure i get in some exercise every day - even if its just a wander into town with DS or being more active around the house. will let you know my progress!

floyd sounds like your OH is a great support. my OH is also dieting so tends to let me fall off the wagon now and then as it lets him do it too

caterina tinned spaghetti, as frogga would say - YUK!, can't stand the stuff, altho DS loves it, i think its his fave word lately, ask he what he wants to eat and he'll say "s'getti"

mrsm well done on the jeans btw, realised i'd forgotten to mention it!

rockie those muffins sound great. i;m in kent but i'm prepared to make the trip if you can manage another batch! ;):D

    Morning you lot!

It's wet, cold and plain nasty here this morning.

As my lover isn't about to come and whisk me off for a luxury champagne breakfast I guess I'll stick with porridge!

Lunch ... still have a load of cherry toms that I got cheap at the weekend and also mushrooms, so will do an egg and have 'cooked breakfast' ... well sort of.

Tonight was supposed to be jacket potatoes... not sure about that. Would rather fancy a vegetables meal tonight.

Yesterday was rather mixed. I found a few bits and pieces to snaffle, which was naughty. I suspect it was because I didn't have anything sustaining enough at lunch.

Am not in work today, dentist for check up later. Will try and stay busy. Collect ds from school after music.

    Hi all!:hello:

Hopefully I will have done myself some good by getting more active, went for an hour and a half brisk walk along New Brighton front last night because I couldn't bare to watch the first half of the match! Got home in time for the second half though and think I must have sweated out another stone through fear while watching it!

Anyway, today is much the same:

B: Porridge, skimmed milk and chopped apple
L: HM veg and barley soup
D: Roast chicken, mashed sweet potato, tenderstem brocolli, savoy cabbage, carrots and a drop of gravy. Might even get a stuffing ball (ooh-er!) if OH remembers to do them

S: plums and satsumas (didn't eat any of them yesterday so they are still lurking in my desk drawer).

Think I might make some different soups this weekend so I don't get too bored, fancy a nice minestrone
