Hi All,
Well, after saying yesterday I needed to up my exercise I decided to take the plunge (literally) and went in the sea today. It was freezing!! Surprisingly it was my hands that got coldest. I couldn't stay in long (less than 10 minutes) as my arms and shoulders got really tired but its a start. I used to swim regularly a couple of years ago and could swim non-stop in a pool for an hour so was a bit shocked how hard I found it. OH thinks I am mad but patiently walked along the edge slowly whilst I swam. So I've done about 7,000 steps and had a swim so far today. I may try having a quick walk around the block later to try and bring it up a bit higher.
B: Muesli etc. Fruit juice
L: Egg sandwich (with fresh baguette from the shop). BananaCauliflower cheese. Raspberry yoghurt (frozen).
S: Coke, Orange
Hope you all have a good day. Better go as OH is champing at the bit for his lunch - which he made 5 minutes ago and is just waiting for me to be ready.

Rose well done on your dip- I always feel like I've done a work out just getting in and out of my cozzie:rolleyes: But you're in the wrong place our Olympic trials are taking place now in Sheffield for the swimming. I'm a big fan and would be there except I'm in Plymouth this weekend for a family party and I am going to Manchester next week to watch the World Championships.
PURPLE HOW ARE YOU DOING???

Pigpen :T :T We thought you'd deserted us:T :T
Cupasoup - YUK (except for Ainsley's mushroom one) full of chemicals and hydrogenated fats
I've gone back to SWhoping that a few weeks of paying will get me back on track.
I LOVE cold pasta, whenever I cook pasta I do too much so that I can keep a box in the fridge to nibble on, love it on it's own or in a salad with half LFmayo/half natural yoghurt or fromage frais.
I'm too embarassed to reveal what they weighed me in at when I joined, slightly more than you but I was fully clothed and had scoffed all that day!

Hello, I've not been on this thread before but the weight's been creeping on and I went on the scales today and !!!!!. Thanks for all the great advice I've read so far!
I did hesitate about posting this because I don't want to be the bringer of bad news the first time I post on here but I thought I'd better mention it - esthomizzy, I think there's a mistake in your calculations, if 3500 calories = 1 lb of weight loss then it's actually 7700 calories to lose a kilogram, so it would take you about 15 days or so to lose a kilo if you exercise an extra 500 calories a day. Oh I hope that's not demotivated you nowbut I'd hate to think of you looking for your kilo loss after three days and it not happening....
Thanks I'm not in the least surprised my calculations are wrong. Maths has never been my strong pointthat's a really depressing thought though if it will take 2 weeks to lose a kilo
I went swimming yesterday hooray! and after dreading it I found I actually enjoyed myself. An unexpected bonus. I've done really well today (well not in reality but in the minefield of a meeting filled with krispy cremes and muffins and crisps I ate some twiglets with salsa dip on which I think was very strong willed of me).MFi3 member 105 - MFW date Oct 2023 - 12 years 9 months more0 -
Pigpen - you only just made it back before the search party was about to start tracking you.
And you're right, it is much easier in the summer. There seems to be so much more to keep you occupied than just food and the heat kills my hunger. Hmmm, lets see if I'm still saying that in a couple of months.
Recovering - shall be finished the first book either tonight or tomorrow. Really enjoying it. Have just picked up 'Big Apple' from the library this morning so I'm all set for a reading fest this weekend. Actually at the same time picked up the latest Rebecca Shaw one (love my gossipy village ones) and Carole Matthews 'the chocolate lovers' club.' It was the title that got me.That lot will keep me out of foodie trouble for a bit...altho bliss to me is a book in one hand and a sandwich in the other.
Rachel - Well done on the 3lbs loss. :T :T :T
Going to go and soak some chickpeas to make some hummus as I've been planning to make some for weeks. They're right at the back of the cupboard and I've been too lazy to get the kitchen steps out and climb up for them.:o
Keeping hopeful for everyones weigh ins this week... and I agree MRSMC, they seem to be coming round faster and faster, mind I like it like that.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Hi MHE
I can't eat any more ginger biscs because there are none. I 'm desperately trying to get the feeling of control back that I had before Easter. I was sailing along so well.
Have got some dead ends of pastry out of the freezer for meal, going to make quiche, but I don't really want that for me, so will have egg I think and some mushrooms and baked beans. Still have some reduced price spuds (BB 8th March... whatever!!!!) so will do family a few wedges with those.
Trying to have a clear out of the stashed bits and pieces in the fridge and freezer. Holidays is easier doing this than term time."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Afternoon everyone. Well as my normal standards go I've not had a bad day today - no time for brekkie because was in car on way to meeting, then by time I came out I was ravenous so I had a panini - but it had tommyatoes in it so that was healthy-ish *coffs* - and a coffee.
Dinner tonight will be.....................actually I have no idea what it'll be. I'm having my hair done after work so expect it's going to be HM pea and ham soup as it'll be late by time I get home.
And that menu for me is positively virtuous compare to what I have been eating recently so nuh!:p
And have just committed to doing the May Day challenge with the two women I work with - me and Debs are going for the half stone (but my 1lb loss counts already) and Teeny Fiona is going for 4lbs as she's so wee. AND we're going to sign up to some exercise class malarkey as well - that's if they can find one that doesn't entail me having to wear a swimming costume OR jig about to music with a load of leotard wearing yummy mummies OR circuits because I don't like them Or..........well I could go on, there is a list as long as my arm of exercise I will not entertain. Basically if they can't find a salsa class on a Thursday night then we're stuffed! Picky? Moi? Never
