Ooh I've just found this fab calorie counting calculator. http://www.stevenscreek.com/goodies/calories.shtml

It claims my cycling to work to be 97cal each way and my proposed swim will be 382 (if I do 60 lengths). It doesn't seem to include walking though. But before I lost my GPS it calculated my 4k walk round the scrubs at 200 so I think I must walk at about 6mph.

ok me again after this I really will go away and shut up

That site says 3500 calories = 1 pound of weight loss (and since I'm metric I figured this out to be 1590 per kg). So that means if I do keep up my target of 500 extra calories per day then I should take 3 days to lose a kilo. That should hopefully motivate me not to fall off the wagon.

    Hi All

Had another really lovely day. We walked up to the lighthouse and then back along the beach - about 90 minutes walking. I also did an extra 1,000 steps going to the bins twice so have done around 12,500 steps. Like you Mrs M, I am trying to think of ways to up my exercise a bit. When we get home to the UK I will get my bike out again but am a bit stuck for anything but walking here.

When we got back we had a late lunch and then I've had an hour and a half lying on the patio with a book. I'm now about to go and start making the evening meal though we won't eat till around 6.30pm.

B: Muesli mixed with fruit and fibre, extra raisins and skimmed milk. Pineapple juice.
L: 3 crackers with 25g of cheddar cheese and smear of butter. 5 cherry tomatoes. Raspberry yoghurt - frozen so it tastes like icecream and takes me 3 times as long to eat.
    Snack: Banana, Coke
D: Chicken with rice, mushrooms, peppers and garlic. Orange.

Welcome to all the new members and congratulations to all those who have lost today.

It always scares the bejaysus out of me when I look at the calories burned up by exercise - cycle to work and you don't even lose a Kit Kat! Cycling to work should burn off at least 2 Mars bars :D

    Hi all,

I seem to have recovered I had the serious munchies yesterday- no reason I can pinpoint:confused:
B-Porridge L-roll ham fruit and yoghurt d- Going out for an Indian....help what are my best choices?
I need damage limitation after my munchie mood yesterday!
I'm actually walking well and even planning on reclaiming my Garden, which has suffered from neglect since I started work full time. I'm going to empty the front and start anew and tart up the patio area in the back, doing the rest next year. I'm going to have lots of pots with herbs in and if I get in the mood I may plan a veggie plot for next year.
    Take care ladies

Something tomato based like tikka masala. Certainly avoid Korma!

Tandoori chicken would be your best option as this is dry and doesn't have a lot of fat - most indian dishes start off with you frying your spices and onions/garlic in a puddle of vegetable oil or ghee. Tikka is dry as well and would be nice as a starter
Watch your na'an - go for a smaller bread if you must have bread - chapattis are less calorific (na'an often brushed with butter) or roti.
Share a portion of rice if you really want rice - or maybe have a biryani? That *should* be a better option.
Not a curry expert but figured the above sounds like common sense - which coming from me today is a bit of a miracle

Oh and I'd probably draw a line at washing it down with 4 pints of lager - might undo all your good work ;)

cheerfulness -I had the sweet potato made as you suggested as it was too mushy for potato cakes so it was a bit like cheesy mash - it went very well with the quorn burgers!:T

We ended up with sweet potato mash as I only had 20mins to prepare and for OH to eat tea   as he's gone back to work.
We had quorn sausage, the mash, and cabbage and leek stir fry - slightly curry flavoured as OH hadn't washed the pan properly the other night  - nice though I put some low fat mozerella pieces in my mash and would have grilled it if I'd had the time.....it all went together well.
I might have a yoghurt in a bit but I'm stuffed at the moment.

9000 steps so far today so I might go for a stroll round the block in a bit to top it up a bit.

For some reason I seem to be constantly hungry today and I have no idea why :(

    So far today:

B: Porridge made with half semi-skimmed milk half water with chopped apple
    S: 1 plum, 1 clementine
L: Tuna on multigrain wholemeal bread with 1/2 tsp of light mayo
    S: 1 plum, 1 pear
D: Roast chicken with green beans, savoy cabbage, tenderstem broccoli, carrots and sweet potato mash with a few tbsp chicken Bisto gravy

Might have an Options hot choc later
