Hi pebbles, you can make stock out of any old nonsense really. I whang bay leaves, whole peppercorns, celery, carrots, onions into mine - I dont even bother peeling the veg, I just break them up and throw them in. Also when you bring it up to the boil there will be scum or froth on the surface, try and skim as much of this off as you can (keep it at a low simmer) and it will help keep your stock nice and clear.:T EXACTLY:TCAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

today... im feeling really pleased now as that €300 is what i put away from this month house keeping/shopping money... money that at one time we would have just eaten...and thus stuck to my hips
Hubby is going to give me back anything that is left and im going to keep that bit out as next months house keeping, plus what i have leftover in my purse..and when I get Aprils house keeping its all going back in to refill my account... Anyway, morning all - morning frogga - if you ever go back and read old posts when you get back online - we haven't forgotten you
Was good last night - the sesame salmon and sweet potatoes were yum and maybe I ate a bit more potato than I ought - but no toast and thankfully there weren't any biscuits as I went looking for sweet things later but opted for an options hot choc.
So recipe for those that want:-
Sesame Crusted Salmon with sweet potato
1. Heat the oven to 220C or 190 fan
2. Put sweet potato bits in large roasting tin and drizzle with oil (it says cut them in chips but I did small inch type chunks) roast for 40 mins (yeah right I was hungry and did them for 10 mins + the time it took to cook the salmon). I also added chopped red onion and chopped red pepper.
3. Put chopped leeks in another tin and drizzle with oil. Roast for 40 mins (yeah right as above- and I sprayed with frylight stuff)
4. Pour small amount of white wine over the leeks and stir. Lay skinless boneless salmon on top (Sainsbugs Basic salmon skinned for me) sprinkle salmon with sesame seeds.
5. Put small tomatoes (meant to be on the vine) and add to the leeks. Drizzle with a little oil and return to the oven for 15 mins until the salmon is cooked.
It was very nom nom nom
So food today is:
Porridge (with cocoa and sugar)
Lunch is left over sweet potatoes with a bit of chicken
Tea is ham omelette
Snacks are an apple and an apple.
And hopefully I will resist the lure of tootie frooties and curly wurliesworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

L: rice, veg, beetroot, orangepesto pasta, mushrooms and salmon steak

Hello everyone and good luck with WI toni and any other weighers today.
I got through yesterday and stuck to my eating plan, so that was good. This morning I have had wholegrain crackerbread with cottage cheese for breakfast and I have just returned from the supermarket. I went to get dog food and REALLY felt like buying all kinds of carp but stuck with it and only bought the dogfood and a couple of sachets of chocolate options (coconut - I've not seen that flavour before).
I have a chicken in the oven at the moment so will have that for dinner tonight with HM wedges and HM coleslaw, and lunch will be a cup of soup and a tuna salad pitta.
Still no sign of TOTM and my bust is really sore and I feel mega bloated and heavy. I think I am starting the menopause - how nice:rolleyes:
DD1 is still away - I took her up to the University yesterday - she had to be there for 3.30 and at 3.20 she was still getting ready, telling me to chill.... Anyway we set off just after 3.20 and she announces that we have to swing by her bf's to pick up her make up as she left it there at the weekend - so, after a 3 mile detour we got there at 4pm, which was a minor miracle thanks to the roads being unusually clear. Then I am just driving home down our road and she texts me to say she forgot her purse and so has no money:mad: - can I just pop back (15 miles) up and give it to her. I was so angry that I phoned her Dad and he took it up to her. Then she rings last night and says that she is never going to live in halls of residence (where she is staying for this A level revision week) as they are "skanky" and you have to share a bathroom with 5 other people so she will be living at home for her 5 year course:eek: no wonder I comfort eat!
Planned snacks today are chocolate options drink, a pear and mullerlite yoghurt (bought 10 for £2 in Morrisons and they have to be used up).
Bobbadog - I HATE doing that with hot food - hope it eases up today - painkillers will help if you can take them.Jane

Hey Guys...
Might be about to shoot mesen in the foot here, cuz I'm hoping to spend most of today baking:eek: In my defence, the majority will be out of my reach cuz I'm over at Mum's from Thursday & shopping tomorrow to stock up two households larders for the bank holiday weekend.
I think it is fair to say that we all wish we were better at looking after ourselves--let's face itif we were perfect:- i/ why would we be coming on here & ii/ wouldn't life be boring? What would we find to excite us quite as much as the Tadpoles adventures in the Frogga Pond or MrsMc recipes:p
I shall say now, in case I don't get back on--Good Luck for the GFCWI. Just remember that the fact you are making a conscious effort to improve your diet makes you a winner regardless of what the scales may say:p

Morning all,
That recipe sounds delicious Newlywed. I'm thinking I'll be adding fresh salmon to my April shopping list now that my craving for tinned salmon was nicely filled this month.
Been a bitty morning but washing on the line and HM pea and ham soup simmering... the smell is scrummy. Can't wait for lunchtime.:j
Just nipped to the library and picked up my Little Lady book Recovering. Quite handy really as a friend has just phoned to say she won't be round for lunch as she's laid up poorly, so I'm thinking a big mug of HM soup in one hand and my book in the other while I lay of the sofa. Bliss!
Food today:
2 crumpets with butter
HM pea and ham soup with slice of HM seedy bread
HM cauli/broc in cheese and bacon sauce with jacket potato
Snacks - dried apricots, apples
The lads are having a 'cowboy' sausage, bacon and baked bean mix thing that they love with wedges tonight but I didn't fancy it. Couldn't believe my luck when I went through the freezer and found last weeks cauli cheese leftovers. :T And there's another portion for another day.
Well I hope all those that are poorly or suffering in whatever way (burnt mouths, aching jaws etc) feel tons better soon.
Will pop back later to see how the weigh ins today are going.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Sainsbugs basic salmon pieces are nice - and bonelessJust had to skin em. They are different sizes too - which works out well as I always give OH the bigger bit
Think they were about £1.70 for 2 nice slices (but I did search through the packs to find the nicest ones)
Ooops nicked frogga's spot - where are you girl???working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
